everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.

That's great @LillyLeaf. Well done. I know it's still scary but stay positive.

@Vilanelle I'm not the best for advice on side effects to be honest as I didn't have many during stimms...just bloated but that was it. I think everyone reacts to the injections very differently but what you're describing sounds like what they told me and what I read on the leaflet. Stay strong though...you got this.

Vilanelle · 04/09/2019 12:56

@Onisa7 Thank you. One thing I am not feeling is bloated! I feel like I have lost weight, I am on slimming world and expected to put on this week with injections but I have lost 2lb!

LillyLeaf · 04/09/2019 12:56

I'm feeling fine, a little tired but ok. There was a question about DPs sample as to whether we should do IVF or icsi so they'll let us know later once they take a closer look. I just need as many as possible to make it to day 5/6 so they can be biopsied ready for pgs testing. Hope everyone is getting on ok.

facevalue · 04/09/2019 14:01

@LillyLeaf sorry to hear this. in one of the clinics they said if you have low egg reserve or abnormal eggs they believe if the sperms are normal then it's best to go for ivf ( meaning put all sperm in the dish and the strongest will be accepted by the egg) so in theory improve the embryo quality. ICSI is usually for low eggs or abnormal sperm. if you have 10 eggs they can do 5/5 to see if it helps... i hope it helps xxx fingers crossed

Parkandride · 04/09/2019 14:31

Day 6 update, another 3 made it to blast and have been biopised for PGD.

So 15 eggs / 10 mature / 9 fertilised / 6 blasts. Results at the end of the month, more waiting! Can only think about that step, not when we'd transfer - would probably be new year. I'll stick around here for a bit to hopefully see you all get BFPs!

facevalue · 04/09/2019 18:03

@Parkandride amazing update x thanks for this uplifting info

i think i need all positive news and chat i can get until test day... i started off positive and realistic but can't help but start imaging a happy end then i get a really rush of anxiety and go very pessimistic 🤧 bloody hormones

LillyLeaf · 04/09/2019 19:12

@Parkandride that's great news, everything crossed for the next few weeks for those results (I'm dreading that bit again).

My lower back is killing me after the EC, everything else feels fine.

Sabelaa · 04/09/2019 20:27

@facevalue I did my own research into and I agree with what u said. However a small number of studies also supported the use of long protocol. In my case my AMH was were under the category of unexplained infertility until we kept getting low fertilisation rate NO MFI. And my eggs were all over the place so I just put it out as thought to the consultant to see if down reg would help to get even size eggs and he kind of just agreed to it. I have seen the consultant a few times now and it's never a caring conversation you just made to feel that your one of many in a production line.
@Onisa7 glad u at least managed to get one put back in. Like they say it only takes one and my one did work first time around until it ended in a MC. I spent all night on and off with pain but seems to me I may have a mild case OHSS with nasty cyclogest sideeffects. Was fine with the pessary first time. I have already spoke to clinic yesterday they said all normal (great) but today I can't even walk straight or go through bumps without wincing in pain. So I am contacting the again tmrw. Mine was a 5day transfer which was clinic's choice. Thanks for the advise will try them.. once I know what my body wants to do it's been a bit of both diahorrea and constipation.
@Vilanelle not sure what medication your on but maybe stating the obvious here are u keeping hydrated some of the injections have a habit of dehydrating you.
@LillyLeaf congrats on getting 8 fingers crossed you will get a few fertilised xx

facevalue · 05/09/2019 11:22

LillyLeaf · 05/09/2019 12:06

Update 6 fertilised out if the 8 so hopefully they'll keep going.

@facevalue how many days past transfer are you now?

facevalue · 05/09/2019 12:53

@lilyleaf fantastic news xxx

my test date is 14th sept 2019 i don't my clinic does two weeks.. it's longer

LillyLeaf · 05/09/2019 14:31

@facevalue that is a long wait, my clinic have always done 9dp5dt for a blood test, although I've done home pg test on the same day. Hang in there.

Parkandride · 05/09/2019 16:47

Well done @LillyLeaf do you get any more updates or just day 5?

LillyLeaf · 05/09/2019 17:02

@Parkandride I'll get a day 3 update then a day 5. It's exactly the same results as my first cycle so far.

Yorkshirehope · 05/09/2019 19:29

Hello - joining late but have egg collection tomorrow. My follicle count is only seven so fingers and toes crossed they can get an egg or two... first time but am 40 so very nervous about that ticking clock.

LillyLeaf · 05/09/2019 19:31

@Yorkshirehope welcome and good luck for the EC tomorrow, how are you feeling?

Yorkshirehope · 05/09/2019 19:35

@LillyLeaf physically feel ok ( albeit a little bloated) but been agitated all day today. Poor hubby can't do anything right. Am nervous about tomorrow - feel that there is hope today but it could be wiped out so quickly.

Onisa7 · 05/09/2019 20:25

@LillyLeaf great results. Fingers crossed for the next updates.

@Yorkshirehope welcome to the pack. We're all in this together. Good luck for the egg collection tomorrow. I was very nervous and anxious for mine but it was actually ok.

facevalue · 05/09/2019 20:31

@Yorkshirehope welcome here.. lovely to have someone new to hopefully lift us up and we will try our best to support you too.

i'm also 40 this is our 5th cycle so nervous for test day.. what's your story ( if u would like to share) .. the husbands will all be suffering because there's just so much stress on us physically and mentally cos it's our ovaries, eggs wombs - they sample in a cup 🤣

YogaPants4 · 05/09/2019 20:47

Hi Girls...first time ivf’er. Finally downregged and started on a double dose of menopur today, not great with needles 🙈 is it normal to feel like the mornings inject is working already? Only after 1 dose? Def feel
Very awRe of that ovary area already

drminion · 05/09/2019 22:45

Hello everyone and happy almost Friday! Welcome new ladies to this hormonal roller coaster full of needle fun, speculums and shiny monitors! Who would have thought that our fluffy baby dreams would be so bumpy?!
At least we're in this together :)
Any Londoners here? UCLHers? I'm having my baseline scan tomorrow and staring injections (hopefully!), I'll let you know how I feel @yogapants4!

YogaPants4 · 06/09/2019 08:14

Thankyou dr minion good luck for your scan today 💪🏼🤞🏽

LillyLeaf · 06/09/2019 08:41

@YogaPants4 I was in quite a high dose of stims this time and started to feel the effects early on, hopefully you won't get too uncomfortable.

@drminion good luck with your scan today, fingers crossed for the go ahead.

It's quite nice today that I have nothing going on, no updates today, no nervously waiting for a call from the clinic which is great because I've got a hell of a lot of work to do today and I really need to not be distracted. How are you all finding working during this?

Sabelaa · 06/09/2019 09:23

@LillyLeaf the first 2 rounds it was all fine with work. No one knows that I am going through this so it was a blessing to not have much side effects. This last one long protocol was pretty difficult hotflushes during work worsened by the hot weather we had about that time, feeling tired at work due to sleeplessness again courtesy of the down reg drugs. I went to work for a few hours this week and I struggles even moving around with pain. Its lucky that I have this week apart for the few hours one day and next week off. Constipation/diahorrea/tummy cramps/swollen ovaries are not a great combo to be at work. The things we go through ey. Hope everyone else is managing the symptoms ok.
@YogaPants4 I never had symptoms first 2 or 3 days but I suppose it depends on the dose ur on and how quick ur ovaries react to it. I hope it doesn't get too bad for u xx

Vilanelle · 06/09/2019 13:15

Hi everyone, Thank it's friday eh!?

@LillyLeaf Working is being a distraction for me. I am finding I am exhausted in the evenings and mornings though. I told my boss about my treatment today. We were on the subject and thought I had better. She seemed shocked but relatively happy for me.

I have a scan on Monday, having been on injections for this week - not sure what will happen. In my mind I feel I may be having the IUI next week?
