everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.

@LillyLeaf it's stressful. to go through this whole process and produce embryos that get discarded is the worst thing u can do to me! so please be kind to yourself x

i've been looking it up and i'm definitely no expert but is it really a 100% ! could you not put 2 or 3 back in and then allow the rest to be tested for the freezer?

i was watching this guy and my heart really aches for you guys xxx hugs

LillyLeaf · 03/09/2019 06:53

@facevalue UK clinics won't transfer abnormal embryos. I really wouldn't want to go through another miscarriage or even a late term miscarriage, stillborn etc which could happen with abnormal embryos as they still can implant and develop. There are cases (in the US) where abnormal embryos have been transferred and been fine but it's mostly antidotal. Right now I have to trust in the science.

On a another note I would love to stay in bed today, it's going to be a busy one at work today.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 03/09/2019 06:56

Morning,

Can I join please a bit late to this thread but am about to start the process again for a 2nd medicated fet! Injections start Tuesday!
Had to have a freeze all at ec but had a fet in June resulted in a bfp but lost it at 5 weeks confirmed at my 6 week scan! So we are on to the next am quite anxious but keen to get started again!

facevalue · 03/09/2019 07:09

@finallytaking welcome x i'm so sorry to hear about your previous chemical pregnancy, mine was in May and it's heartbreaking ( i never appreciated how painful it is until i had one). please feel free to chat away. all the girls are so kind and supportive here x

@LillyLeaf that's excellent that you did your homework and are convinced ... this journey is bloody hard.. so many unknowns .. i guess i'm silly and think have a day 3 transfer of 2 or 3 untested embryos ( obviously can end in bfn, chemical pregnancy, miscarriage or stillbirth like any other pregnancy) and let them check the remaining after for the freezer! 😢 but this is why i'm me and you are you ... everyone copes with different risks based on past experience .. it's all bloody traumatic.

on a separate note ... I HATE THESE PESSARIES i've got a massive headache, sore boobs and achy muscles... arrrghhhhh all sideeffects clearly written on the leaflet😑 .. my mum has been calling me every night chatting away about silly things and keeps telling to call her anytime i'm bored or stressed ! how sweet as i never was close to her.. we spent 15 mins talking about poo 🤣🤣🤣🤣 very classy eh!

Vilanelle · 03/09/2019 07:12

Morning ladies. My injections went ok they didn't hurt but I did lose a bit of liquid from first one because I cocked it up! Left me with a stingy red rash too which has cleared up.

Anxiety levels still fairly high

LillyLeaf · 03/09/2019 10:52

@facevalue sorry about those side effects, they sound awful! How much longer until you can test?

LillyLeaf · 03/09/2019 10:59

@Vilanelle have you try the 'mindful ivf' app? Or headspace? They helped me lower the anxiety and be calmer.

Vilanelle · 03/09/2019 11:50

@LillyLeaf No but I will 100% give that a go this evening, thank you!

Has anyone had any side effects from injections?

facevalue · 03/09/2019 12:04

@LillyLeaf yep . 14th . won't test until then i learned my lesson b4 😢

@vilanelle i had side effects with all the drugs 😢 just read the leaflet and i will see if it's there x

Vilanelle · 03/09/2019 12:07

@facevalue I know what I am like though, if I see a side effact I will imagine I have it!

I felt nauseous after injection last night - couldn't have been a side effect as it was the first one lol

Parkandride · 03/09/2019 12:59

Mindful ivf app man has a lovely soothing voice, I always fall right to sleep Grin

facevalue · 03/09/2019 16:00

oh ladies i've had a banging headache since 5 am ... despite paracetamol and a 2 hours nap ( took the day off) ..

i'm desperate to continue the pessaries but i think it's all side effects ... my heart is pounding as if i've got the flue but no fever ... could this be a migraine ?

how is everyone else doing

Parkandride · 03/09/2019 16:33

Day 5 update (finally!), we had 9 embryos.

3 have been biopsied and frozen for PGD
2 are blasts but not hatched so hopefully can biopsy tomorrow
2 aren't full blasts but might get there tomorrow
2 out of the game

Hoping for a good update tomorrow, a couple more would be great

LillyLeaf · 03/09/2019 17:06

@Parkandride that's fantastic. How long does it take to get the PGD results?

Parkandride · 03/09/2019 18:12

About 2 weeks I think @LillyLeaf, just need the consultant to get in touch to book a follow up appointment.
DH is late home and has to go straight out so I don't know if I have time to tell him Sad

LillyLeaf · 03/09/2019 18:48

@Parkandride just tell him as soon as he comes in, it's great news.

I'm going to try to get an early night tonight before my egg collection tomorrow, god I hope there's some decent eggs in there.

Sabelaa · 03/09/2019 23:07

Hi ladies, joining in a bit late. So I am 1 week post 5d embryo transfer. We had 10 eggs but only 3 fertilised and only 1 made it in the end. Had some spotting 1 and 2 days post ET. But now for the past few days I have been getting abdominal pain and switching between diahorrea and constipation all apparently normal with the pessary. However I am also getting pressure down below, painful cramp like pain when having a wee or opening bowels. Has anyone had any symptoms like that? I spoke to clinic and they said not unusual sounds bowel which I keep trying to convince myself but at the back of my head I am worried worried about an ectopic pregnancy. This early my symptoms can fit with ectopic but completely some with OHSS although not at risk of that. This is our 3 attempt, 1st one ended in MC, second non fertilised and this one good quality embryo transferred. Despite the Dr suggesting donor eggs so very bluntly without exploring any other avenue ie change in medication or protocol. I suggested a different protocol which the Dr said we could try that... thank God I did as here we are ended up with 3 fertilised even if only one made it. To say I am disappointed with the way clinic has handled it so far is an understatement but i went ahead anyway. So symptoms wise if it helps anyone headaches, hotflushes, sleeplessness during down reg were all awful. Then came the bloating and constipation post EC and ET. Now this which is all new never had it before I feel pressure even when I go through bump when driving which I try to turn from one side to another in sitting position. I just hope and pray it's not ectopic it's just too much after all this. Sorry ladies for the long story... needed to vent to people who are in the same awful roller coaster of infertility. To everyone else good luck and thank u in advance I will keep u updated.

facevalue · 03/09/2019 23:34

@Parkandride well done you x keep fingers crossed and try nurture your body with healthy eating /vitamins and your mind with positive thoughts and meditation to be ready for the embryos xxx hugs

@sabelaa welcome to the group. test date? i'm testing 14th sept so the torture of the waiting. i don't know how old you are but it is annoying that your clinic didn't put 2 or 3 back on day3. you don't need a blastocyte if u have low egg count. to reassure you my 1 cycle i only had one embryo. my 2nd cycle there was only one embryo who is now my 2 year old daughter so if you are willing to try and can afford to then why not.. if you are 45 or older they say donor egg but still no one can force u.. u can always go abroad. janet jackson had a baby aged 50. obviously less than 9% success rate but if u r willing and they r honest that's fine x
about the symptoms u r describing it's all probably linked to the bloody pessaries - i am suffering with them .. headache all day today, sore boobs, bowel bloating, muscle aches... it's so so hard to stop your mind from imagining it's all pregnancy related incase u get that bfn slapping you in the face!!! torture will be over soon

Sabelaa · 03/09/2019 23:53

@facevalue thank you for your quick reply. So my test date in the 9th so not long to go and I am not testing early too many disappointments of almost all scenarios has taught many lessons. So I am 33 and already managed to conceive naturally after a few failed IUIs n was about to start ivf. They didn't want to put more than one in coz I had already had one n naturally they couldn't risk.multiple pregnancy. Your story gives me hope. Like they say it only takes one but my first ended in a MC. I have one more go left on the package I paid for but this 3rd one has been so hard n took a toll on my body n health don't know if it's coz of all the down reg drugs as it was the long protocol which was what I suggested n took all the recommended supplements n managed 10 eggs n 3 fertilised but ended up with no frosties. Donor egg is not an option for us by choice. I get some women saying it was unexpected 3rd or 4th etc baby n ur heart just aches and bleeds. Then other no longer want the pregnancy which is their right but I wonder how it works that we are injecting ourselves with all sorts awful drugs in order to have one or give our one a sibling. It is what it is as they say. These threads keep me going thank ladies xx

facevalue · 04/09/2019 00:09

@sabelaa i'm not sure how many opinions you asked before you committed to this. for ladies with low AMH and low egg/ embryo it is best to have short protocol with lower dose drugs because you want to get better quality egg .. the temptation is to pump u with drugs to increase numbers but the studies show u get more eggs but they r immature or if poorer quality so it's false hope. u r best sticking with less and better quality egg .. also don't obsess with day5 embryo as the evidence show exactly same pregnancy rate between day3 and day5 when u have less eggs xxx anyway u r young and must keep hopeful xxx IUI is cheaper so if u r same sex or single then try a load more of that x fingers crossed that u don't need to x

Onisa7 · 04/09/2019 08:43

@Sabelaa welcome to the pack. This is was our first IVF cycle and we are in the exact same situation, only difference is that I had only 5 eggs retrieved and only 3 fertilized. We had a 3 day transfer but the other 2 didn't make it. I test 3 days after you!!!
Anyway, I don't have as many symptoms anymore just my breasts starting to hurt but my next cycle is supposed to start in 2 days so I thinks that's my body telling me what's happened. If you're unsure and worried it could be ectopic it's always an option to go to A&E and ask for a scan no? They told me that if I get any strong pain to go straight away to rule it out. To help with the constipation I've been having plums (the dark grape look-a-like ones-sorry don't know the name) and that's helped me in the last few days.
Hope it all works out for you. Be kind to yourself.

Vilanelle · 04/09/2019 11:58

How are we all today? Day 3 of injections for me. Cloudy head and lightheaded with a touch of nausea. Is this normal so early on?

Good luck for your test days ladies, I am routing for you x

LillyLeaf · 04/09/2019 12:14

Just had my ec 8 eggs, I was hoping for more. It's what I got last time then 5 embryos, hopefully they all progress nicely and I'll get a good batch of normal embryos.

Parkandride · 04/09/2019 12:40

Well done @LillyLeaf how are you feeling? 8 is a great number, hope they fertilise well

Parkandride · 04/09/2019 12:41

I think anything is "normal" during this process @Vilanelle Grin
