everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.

@facevalue I'm 40 and doing it with my hubs. It's our first ivf cycle. We were not able to freeze any so I'm really hoping the two embryos are good and results in a positive:)

LillyLeaf · 10/09/2019 18:57

@Vilanelle good luck for tomorrow.

@Glitter83 I think you're right about the mental emotions, I feel like I've held my breath with worry for weeks. I do the mindful IVF and headspace but I often fall asleep, I'm not sure if that's the point. I need to try the focus meditation because I'm useless at work at the moment but somehow hiding it well.

@Parkandride how many days after EC did you get your period? They put me on Cyclogest for 5 days after ec in case they wanted to transfer something but I'm off it now, no idea when AF will arrive. I'll get my results in about 2 weeks 1-2 days too. Terrified! I think we both did well with our 6, it's a good number.

Anaesthetist83 · 10/09/2019 19:10

@LillyLeaf

I was a freeze all due to severe OHSS. Oestradiol >20,000. Bleed started 2 weeks after trigger injection

Parkandride · 10/09/2019 19:24

@LillyLeaf AF came 11 days after collection, which was couple of days late for me as I have shortish cycles, was feeling very ready for it - hoping to lose that last bit of bloat! Yeah I think we've done really well! Hope we both get some good news in a couple of weeks

LillyLeaf · 10/09/2019 20:24

@Anaesthetist83 & @Parkandride thanks. Are you planning on any prep pre FET? I feel like I want to get fitter, healthier but at the moment I really can't be arsed. I've put on about a stone since starting IVF last November and just feel gross.

Anaesthetist83 · 10/09/2019 21:32

@LillyLeaf I’m still recovering - totally knackered. Am just trying to eat as healthily as I can without being ridiculous, take my folic acid, Vit E and D and Arginine (recommended by my consultant for endometrial thickness, which seems to be an issue for me) and rest. My job is very high stress and long, unpredictable days with 24 hour oncalls. I’m not currently up to it, so have been signed off for the rest of Sept. planning to try and reduce my hours using annual leave for the FET (often work 60+ hour weeks)

Glitter83 · 10/09/2019 22:01

@Vilanelle good luck for tomorrow.

@Parkandride I'm trying to occupy my mind with decorating. I should rephrase that..... My husband will be decorating I'm merely sitting back observing and choosing paint colours. I'm going to give the mindful IVF app a shot. I use the calm app but just fall asleep without taking in much of the meditation chat

@Sabelaa sorry to hear about your MC. Taking each day as it comes sounds like a good plan. It's the only thing that keeps me focused through this. I have a tendency to run away with myself.

@Lilyleaf I am exactly the same with the breath holding. I am a natural worrier anyway. I was kinda holding it together with work and then it all became too much about two days before my retrieval. I'm in a pretty stressful job, long hours and a lot of pressure. It's the last thing I need right now.

I'm still waiting on post retrevial period. My retrieval was 11 days ago and still no sign. I feel it's lurking though.

@LilyLeaf and @Anaesthetist83 I'm just sticking to healthy diet, no alcohol, (light exercise when I'm fit for it, someone suggesting to go swimming which may be best. Different for me as I'm used to body attack classes) and my folic acid and vit D. I tried acupuncture pre retrevial and wasn't too keen plus it was a lot of money.

Hi lovely ladies. I think I'm out. Started having some very light pink discharge yesterday (1time after the toilet) and what are my normal period symptoms and today in the morning I had more discharge (brownish) similar to how my period starts. I still didn't test but this is it, I'm sure. Good luck to all of you! I'll keep following your journeys whilst deciding what I'm doing next.

facevalue · 11/09/2019 08:46

I tested today

BFP xx

can't believe it

facevalue · 11/09/2019 08:47

@Onisa7 remember what said before it's not over until you test.

fingers crossed x hugs

LillyLeaf · 11/09/2019 08:54

@facevalue congratulations, well worth the wait.

@Onisa7 you need to test to know for sure. Fingers crossed

I feel so bloody sluggish, my digestion is screwed. I think I need a detox.

Glitter83 · 11/09/2019 09:06

@facevalue Congratulations. Fantastic news!!

@Onisa7 keeping everything crossed for you.

facevalue · 11/09/2019 09:47

so i called the clinic with the urine test result and they r saying I HAVE TO have a BHCG blood test first before they would book a scan!

what's the point of that?

Parkandride · 11/09/2019 09:58

Huge congrats FaceValue!!! Very pleaaed for you, will they do the blood test?

Fingers still crossed @Onisa7, time to do a test to check?

@LillyLeaf I've still taking my vitamins but nothing extra in prep for FET, I'll go back to accupuncture as I had a decent lining during stims while doing that (probably coincidence!), think we'd have a bit of a break though and maybe transfer in the new year as I'm not mentally prepared for the next step yet, keep thinking they all might be dodgy so it's still 1 step at a time!

facevalue · 11/09/2019 10:42

@park&ride thanks. they rang and said if u don't want the blood test that's fine- scan in 3 weeks

i can't really be happy yet- just relieved

now the next big wait for a heartbeat 😢😢😢 so bloody stressful

Yorkshirehope · 11/09/2019 11:06

Hi all - so many emotions in the last few messages- happy and sad. It really sums up this IVF journey doesn’t it - complete rollercoaster. Sorry for those with not so great news and super happy for those with positive. I have transfer today - after 5 fertilised only one made it to blaster stage. Apparently it is a great grade but sad that have no back up. Hey fingers crossed though as only takes one. Xx

Ayuree · 11/09/2019 11:18

@Onisa7 I had the same too this morning. Not sure what to think. Don't feel like talking to the nurse about this. Does feel like game over for me for this cycle. So badly want to stay positive but not sure where to get the strength to hopefully wait till 16/09

I've read that there are women that bleed during the 2ww and still had positive. I'm a bit confused tbh like how can we get period whilst on pessaries.

Hugs to you.

Onisa7 · 11/09/2019 11:46

Hi everyone thank you for your words. I'm gonna test today in the afternoon when my bf comes back from work. Can't take this anymore and I just want to get it over with. I'm still having cramps and period symptoms but haven't had the courage to go for another wee since the one in the morning.

@facevalue so so so happy for you. I know you still probably have fears but it's a massive step. Enjoy it. I'm gonna get myself a big bottle of wine and book some holidays 😉

@Ayuree I've read cases like that as well but I really don't/can't think I'll be one of those. It's better for me to prepare for the bad news. Hope can be a dangerous dagger on your back....sorry, I'm too gloomy and negative today. Stay positive on your end 😉

Onisa7 · 11/09/2019 11:55

@Yorkshirehope massive good luck for the transfer today. I know the feeling of not having back up but that one is good quality. All fingers and toes crossed.

facevalue · 11/09/2019 12:29

@onisa7 @Ayuree I don't want you girls to give up until the test is done. I already shared this FACT true story from personal experience.
first, my sister had IVF and 2 days before test date she had what she said was her normal proper period she was devastated and convinced IT FAILED and she did not bother with the test because it was 100% her typical period .. she booked a holiday for 2 weeks and then on her return she contacted a new clinic to start again .. when she attended her appointment to admitted to the dr that she never took the pregnancy test but she definitely had a period. the dr refused to proceed unless she took the blood test as a routine things. she got a call back which she missed then a week later she got a letter saying she must contact the clinic immediately.. anyway they told her her test was positive and she needs a scan! her son will turn 3 next month.
i also had ivf in May i did have spotting and period symptoms but on test day i had a bfp- it did end as a chemical pregnancy

i guess what i'm trying to say... please just do test on the date stated by your clinic - delay the sadness until it's confirmed

@Yorkshirehope excellent news the you had a blastocyte. i don't want to give anyone false hope however i feel i owe you ladies this: to just share my true experience. my 2nd ivf cycle i only had one embryo which was not great quality and transferred on day 4 ( i think because i was flying the next day or something) and no frosties- this is now my 2 years old DD. so it really does only take one! just take it easy take the pessaries and vitamins and keep positive

I don't know if this bfp will end with an actual baby - anything can happen still but i want to keep positive and keep the hope and fingers crossed

lots of hugs x

Ayuree · 11/09/2019 13:09

@facevalue thank you so much for taking your time to share your story and your sister's story. You surely have given me hope. Thanks. 5 days to go and counting. Thanks again.

Vilanelle · 11/09/2019 13:23

IUI done! Test day is 27th x

Vilanelle · 11/09/2019 13:24

@facevalue sorry just saw your message
Massive congrats xxxx

Sabelaa · 11/09/2019 17:15

@facevalue huge congrats so happy for you. It feels an even longer wait to the scan. How many weeks do u have to be to get a scan at your clinic? Mine do it at 7 weeks plus.

Sabelaa · 11/09/2019 17:27

@Vilanelle hope it wasn't too bad for you x.

@Onisa7 @Ayuree I know its scary to be hopeful as the journey of infertility is alot of disappointments. However as they say hope for the best and prepare for the worst. In my job line I have seen ladies who even I thought from their history have likely miscarried (in my mind) but I have seen enough to not think that the outcome of bleeding is not always MC. It's common to have ECH (extrachorionic haemorrhage) in early pregnancy as well as implantation bleeding. So be kind to yourself and don't loose hope until it's definitely negative.

@Yorkshirehope hope your transfer went well. I know how you feel as in both mine I only had one that made it. But at the end of the day it's only takes one. So just try to look after yourself, laugh, do something you enjoy, stay away from caffeine etc and fingers crossed you will get your BFP. Xx
