everyone,
I've started a new thread for people starting treatment this month. I'm hoping to make some new friends with people who understand how hard this journey is. Hopefully we can have some fun whilst getting on with the treatment.
This is my first cycle of ivf/icsi so any treatment buddies please say hello.

Don’t stress about it too much - mild OHSS is fairly common (20 to 25%) and is self limiting and easily manageable at home. I was sadly at the very severe end of the spectrum, which is rather rare

facevalue · 10/09/2019 06:47

morning everyone. this thread has expanded significantly which is amazing but I end up only commenting to last comments as by the time i reach the reply button my head got mixed up

@Glitter83 welcome to group. goodluck and keep us posted

@LillyLeaf when is your 7 week scan? hearing the heart beat will be absolutely priceless - hope it all goes well

@Vilanelle what are your updates

@Onisa7 48 hours until test day ! my mum was so irritated i said i was sweeping the leafs in the garden and my husband is doing most lifting and bathing our 2year old... now it's completely not scientifically proven that rest will do anything to make it a bfp but i'm just being a good girl and taking it completely easy

i am absolutely terrified of testing but even more when i wipe in fear of seeing blood..

anyone does this ridiculous thing where they wear white underwear as a way to observe i'd bleed! then get too stressed and change to dark or black so i don't see blood if it comes

erghhhhh 🙄🙄🙄🙄

there were so many more ladies i wanted to check on but the @ function isn't giving me the full names options and i'm only using my mobile so less user friendly for sure

facevalue · 10/09/2019 06:59

@Ayuree welcome to the group. 2WW is killing me too. what i find helpful is talking talking and talking about your journey - as you will notice on this thread i make comments daily.

what's your story? first cycle? age? are you doing this alone or with a partner? you got kids already? anything really you want to share

i'm 40, this is my 5th ivf cycle
1st bfn
2nd bfp - my daughter is 2
3rd bfn
4th bfp - chemical pregnancy
5th waiting to test on 14th

I also went through a phase of watching ivf stories on youtube like mad bfp stories to give me hope but also bfn stories to make me realistic. if u do have a partner just tell them not to get upset by anything u say or do until testday because u will be absolutely MENTAL

i think so far in this thread we 2 ladies with bfp @Lil221 and i already forgot who else had a positive test but i'm sure there were 2 more maybe the ladies can tell you themselves

facevalue · 10/09/2019 07:03

@LillyLeaf sorry the above was for @Lil221 regarding 7week scan😭😢

this phone is crazy like me it selects the wrong names xxx sorry

Lil221 · 10/09/2019 07:13

@facevalue thank you I will let you all know when the scan is booked in. Not long till you can test now, I cant believe you have been so strong and held off.

@onisa7 I'm so looking forward to you testing on thursday! We have been on this journey together throughout and I wish you the most amazing luck on thursday.

Hi to all the new members!! Good luck in your journeys and stay positive xx

Oh guys, I am so stressed. Was instructed to take my trigger shot last night at midnight.

With the suprecur injections I had problems working out how to open it so thought I would open the trigger slightly to make sure I could do it rather than stress at midnight.

Came to midnight and I opened it up properly and the needle was all bent, like in about 3 places. I tried to put it in belly anyway and the end snapped off.

Cue stressing and almost crying then my girlfriend decided to transfer it into another needle but I worry we lost a bit of fluid, she reckons we didnt lose a drop. Hmm.

Anyway, do you think this will make a difference? Feeling stressed today.

@Facevalue iui tomorrow at 12.00 lunchtime! Assuming I did the bloody trigger right

Anaesthetist83 · 10/09/2019 09:31

@Vilanelle I’m sure it will be fine

Glitter83 · 10/09/2019 09:32

@Anaesthetist83 hi there, yeah getting there thanks. Sounds like you were worse than me! I'm still off work at the moment too, just feel exhausted at the slightest things. Think I'm over the worst of it now but trying not to do too much. I want to be fit and ready for our first transfer. This is our first cycle too.

Glitter83 · 10/09/2019 09:34

@Vilanelle easy to say but try not to stress. I'm sure it worked perfectly fine. Big deep breaths.

Ayuree · 10/09/2019 09:37

@Vilanelle did you call your clinic?

Anaesthetist83 · 10/09/2019 09:41

@Glitter83 I’m the same - absolutely exhausted. I’m usually so active and always on the go. At the moment, a flight of stairs wipes me out. I am having the rest of Sept off.

Anaesthetist83 · 10/09/2019 09:42

We transfer drugs frequently between syringes (Anaesthetist) - the amount lost if done carefully is minuscule. Calling the clinic in the middle of the night wouldn’t really have helped. It will be fine!

Vilanelle · 10/09/2019 09:49

@Ayuree No, I am feeling too anxious about it!

Vilanelle · 10/09/2019 09:49

@Anaesthetist83 thank you. I think it was just a small drip from the top x

Glitter83 · 10/09/2019 10:16

@Anaesthetist83 I'm exactly the same! i emptied the dishwasher the other day for ten minutes then had to go for a lie down! Really not used to this. Going a bit stir crazy tbh! I'm supposed to be going back to work next week but I might be a bit over ambitious. I'll see how I am at the end of the week......

Sabelaa · 10/09/2019 10:41

I am in the same boat ladies.. feeling knackered even going up a flight of stairs at home. The drugs and physical/mental emotions just seem to overtake our bodies. After nearly 2 weeks of feeling rough likely to due to mild OHSS I have finally started to feel better. So it's does get better ladies.

To the ladies that had OHSS sorry you have been through it. I hope ur getting better. Sorry using my phone so names are coming up.

Update - to those who may have not seen I am one of the ladies with BFP awaiting for my scan end Sept/beginning of Oct. Keeping fingers crossed for everyone xx

facevalue · 10/09/2019 12:42

@Sabelaa thank you. fantastic i knew there was another beautiful BFP in here .. looking forward to hearing your updates x wish us luck

LillyLeaf · 10/09/2019 15:35

We managed to get the 6th embryo biopsied today, which is one more then last time.

Hope you're all getting on ok.

I've felt the odd pain around the ovaries when I've stretched or twisted. I'm 6 days past EC so thought they should have calmed down a bit now. Still feel knackered.

Vilanelle · 10/09/2019 15:45

Keep your strength up ladies!

I have butterflies just thinking about tomorrow. I am so nervous!!

facevalue · 10/09/2019 16:25

@vilanelle what's happening tomorrow?

@LillyLeaf that's fantastic news .. fingers crossed you get lots of good ones to use xxx

@Onisa7 tick tock tick tock i'm so nervous ..

facevalue · 10/09/2019 16:27

@Vilanelle sorry .. yes tomorrow is your iui .. i have no experience at all.. about the trigger i really wouldn't worry now.. what's done is done

Glitter83 · 10/09/2019 16:29

@Sabelaa Congrats on your BFP!! That's amazing news. Glad to hear you're on the mend from OHSS. I'm very much looking forward to getting back to normal or as normal as can be on this emotional rollercoaster!! If you don't mind me asking was this your first round?

I'm same I use my phone and trying to catch up with names and messages so please don't think I'm rude if I miss a message.

@LillyLeaf I think the mental emotions can exhaust you as well which is something I never really considered before all of this kicked off.

Have any of you being trying apps like headspace or mindful ivf can you recommend? Patience is not my strong suit but I've had to learn very quickly you need a whole heap for IVF/ICSI!!!!

Parkandride · 10/09/2019 17:41

Welcome new joiners! I'm mainly lurking again as I feel less like ivf is occupying my whole mind which is nice, post retrieval period finally showed up and its 2 weeks 2 days til PGD results!

Fantastic to see some BFPs come through

Great news about the 6th embryo @LillyLeaf We have the same number biopsied now! When do you get your results?

@Glitter83 I use them both, they're soothing if nothing else, my husband used to be silently laughing at "fertile body fertile mind" and "your beautiful gorgeous eggs" on the mindful ivf one Grin

Good luck tomorrow @Vilanelle

Onisa7 · 10/09/2019 17:41

Hey ladies. How's everyone doing?

@Vilanelle what a scary situation. But I hope you're recovered now. Good luck!

@Sabelaa not sure if I missed it as well. Sorry if I did but huge congrats. We all need good positive stories around here

@facevalue I'm so terrified, anxious, horrified to to do the test. I'm feeling a bit meh today, with some cramps and I'm definitely not constipated anymore 🤯 I also wear white underwear now to be able see if anything goes wrong. Today I panicked because after going for a wee it looked like a very very pale pink on the tissue. Can't tell how horrible and anxious I felt. Just want to get this done with tbh.

@glitter83 I use Mindful IVF and it's ok. I also have Vita West meditation clips that I use sometimes. It does help me a bit but I'm not one to "believe" in those things that much so my mind wonders a lot during the exercises.

Sabelaa · 10/09/2019 17:50

@facevalue thank you x

@Glitter83 thank you. No it's my 3rd one. First ended in an early MC. Second non fertilised (didn't see that one coming) and here we are with our 3rd we no frosties. I am taking each day as it comes. After the first ended in an MC I can't seem to let myself fully excited.

@Vilanelle good luck for your IUI tmrw. I had 3 goes on that tears ago. It wasn't too bad from my experience. So I hope it goes well for u. Try to relax best as you can (I know easier said than done) but being relaxed and calm does to a certain degree help. It certainly won't solve fertility issues but will help provide a better environment. Try to watch or read something tonight something funny.

@LillyLeaf my pain/sorness around the ovaries started 4/5 days lost EC too and got worst from then on. So keep up with the fluids and limit salt.

To everyone else who I haven't mentioned good luck at whatever stage you are on. Xx
