@2fingers22018 they won’t go ahead with the scan unless I’ve bled

2fingers22018 · 04/08/2019 21:28

@Anaesthetist83 so have u not had any scans yet? Im new to the ivf side of things ive never had a cycle gearin up for my 1st im assuming i must be short protocol then since my poa is different

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 04/08/2019 21:39

@Anaesthetist83 thankyou it was tough but we are doing ok!
When I was on buserelin for my fet (i had to have a freeze all) it did delay my af by a week if not slightly longer!

@2fingers22018 no he was by himself no other half maybe that’s why there was no self control 😂. I am also getting back on the healthy eating tomorrow need to feel like I’m getting ready for the next round even though my holiday is in 10 day still want to try my best!

2fingers22018 · 04/08/2019 21:47

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF my hospital has a freeze all policy aswell this is where im gettin kinda confused on wether they do the stimulation then egg retrieval, do they then wait until u get af then embryo transfer the next cycle? I felt like we were bombarded with info and it wasnt explained great. Well your holidays nicely timed at least u can get chilled out before u start everything

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 04/08/2019 22:02

@2fingers22018 after ec you’ll have a bleed mine was 5 days after so quite quick then once the next af has shown you can start a transfer wether that’s medicated or natural have they said? Mine are medicated so you start day 21 of your cycle

GreyC · 04/08/2019 22:04

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF @2fingers I went shopping the other day and brought so much fruit and salad etc it’s been a nice change. Definitely helps to make better choices when your house isn’t full of chocolate 🙈🙈 because I’ve eaten it all!! Haha.

Although the my usual morning; plain yummy porridge thought I’d slice it up with raspberries and blueberries (I don’t really like either but thought the taste would be hid) well it was awful I was gagging haha!!

2fingers22018 · 04/08/2019 22:10

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thanks ur so gd at explaining stuff like i said it was rush the info down ur throat lol @GreyC😂 im terrible sumtimes eatin fruit n veg seems like a punishment tho doesnt it? I can imagine u sittin there pinchin ur nose lol

GreyC · 04/08/2019 22:25

I’m better with veg than fruit. But goodness I was almost sick. On the end I had to make a fresh bowl and I couldn’t even look at it!

2fingers22018 · 04/08/2019 22:41

@GreyC😂 i cant do the sweet with savoury thing it has to be one or the other i luv raspberries and porridge but not together lol

CloudSway · 05/08/2019 06:35

I bloody love porrage, but had to give it up for a while since I take mine with half a tin of sugar in it!... really fancy it now lol.

@2fingers22018 is right, you are very good at explaining your protocol @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF, I'm starting to look like the font of all knowledge when me and DH discuss it, he keeps asking how I know so much haha 😉 how are you feeling about starting up again?

@Anaesthetist83 welcome, sounds like you are slightly ahead of most of us, although we do have a few people who are a lot further down the road. I'm mf, and we are on a 3 month lifestyle change before we start in September to try to spark a bit more life into DH's next test. If it hasn't improved then it'll be DNA fragmentation/MiOXSYS (haven't quite figured out which is which!). My AMH is on the low side but I'm hoping the eggs I have are in good shape. Do you mind me asking, do you know what's been preventing you from getting there naturally? - only answer if you want to obviously, I hope that isn't a rude question x

@GreyC great about your CBT by the way, have you had it before? Both me and OH have had it via phone, it did him good but he wasn't blown away, but for me it was an absolute game changer, has completely changed how I deal with anxiety for life! Fx it gets you in a great frame of mind for what's to come 👍

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 05/08/2019 07:19

@GreyC I think I’m more of a veg and salad girl I only really like apples and bananas not so keen on the berries! I eat a lot of eggs for protein 3 for breakfast! Salad at lunch with chicken, turkey or tuna sometimes cheese and then night time varies! I really need to sort my weight out I’ve put in half a stone since starting and am really struggling to shift it I know it’s not loads but i can tell!

@2fingers22018 aww thanks once you have started and done it don’t think you can forget it but I know what you mean there is a lot to take in! Reminds me I must ring up the clinic and make my appointment with the nurse to go through it all again so I can get my meds delivered hopefully before I go away!

@Cloudsway thanks but you’ll all be experts once you get started! I’m ok I think I’m scared this time just because of last times out come and now trying to think of anything I can do to help! It was also interesting that my consultant said miscarriage rates are higher if you PCOS which I didn’t know and obviously it has been mentioned that I could have it so that worried me and I’m going to be 35 this year so don’t want to put it off but I have said if this one doesn’t work I might have to take a break just to sort myself out and regroup if that makes sense! It is hard work and with working full time and studying life is extra exhausting at the mo! Gosh sorry for the rant lol

Hope everyone else is ok? Xx

Anaesthetist83 · 05/08/2019 10:15

@CloudSway

Our background:

I'm 36 later in the month, husband 40. No children or infact pregnancies to date. Trying since beginning of 2018 but clear I wasn't ovulating. Started clomid Sept 2018 - ovulating, but thinned endometrium. Switched to letrozole, better but didn't work. Decided to skip IUI as found the unpredictability of whether or not we would be able to carry on with a cycle each month frustrating (particularly given my long cycles)

My AMH and AFC are good for age. Husband's SA also good..... so looks like probably a combination of subtle things in our way. Finally started bleeding today so scan on Thursday should carry on. Just hoping I can then start stims, with egg collection at end of the month (potentially a "good" birthday present)

veeboo · 05/08/2019 15:57

Hello ladies. I am back from the wedding weekend. No awkward questions which was good!

Welcome @Anaesthetist83 , this is a supportive board. I am due to start IUI in September. We are unexplained with some ED issues. Do you mind telling me what you mean about the uncertainty of finishing the IUI cycle?

2fingers22018 · 05/08/2019 16:08

So used an opk yesterday AM negative, last nite positive test, now this morning negative do u think its a waste of time making the effort to dtd tonite?@CloudsSway i luv porridge too but i have the opposite LOADS of salt in it lol the CBT sounds gd @GreyC. @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF dnt apologise i luv a gd rant as u can tell clears the mind lol

2fingers22018 · 05/08/2019 16:09

@veeboo glad ur wedding went well did u manage to get a little cheeky cocktail or are u in the tww?

GreyC · 05/08/2019 16:13

Hi @Anaesthetist83 - what protocol are you on?

All booked in and start buserlin?! 23rd to make my ovaries asleep and first scan on the 10th sept. So excited!!
Also I’ve started slimming world again in the hope I can shift this half a stone I’ve put back on 🙈

Anaesthetist83 · 05/08/2019 16:38

@veeboo - the nhs clinic that I was at for initial ovulation induction plus potentially IUI was Monday to Friday. As you are scanned on day 1 of your cycle for IUI, if this fell on a weekend, you couldn’t start. They also had problems with their ultrasound breaking and being out of action for a number of weeks, so no IUI cycles could start. There was then going to be greater demand than capacity so they couldn’t guarantee starting future cycles. All in all we worked out it could take a good 9 months for 3 attempts at IUI, which doesn’t have the greatest success rate. So we decided that we would go straight for IVF.

I’m on a long protocol @Greyc. You are exactly a month behind me as i started buserelin on the 23rd July. It’s actually been fine so far. Just hoping stims can start later this week

veeboo · 05/08/2019 16:47

Thanks for explaining @Anaesthetist83. Ours told us weekends wouldnt be an issue but they sometimes are full so push to the next cycle. I don't think theyd let us go straight to IVF but we want to try it anyway.

@2fingers22018 I am in the tww but I did have a few small drinks. After 18months I've learned depriving myself is not necessarily helpful but I didnt get drunk and in the run up to IUI now I wont drink. No more events to tempt me either! It was a good wedding. I did a reading which went well, I was so nervous!

Mrsmch123 · 05/08/2019 17:09

Hi everyone, just checking into the new thread to keep track. I have been very quiet as I'm still in limbo land and waiting for 2nd sperm analysis results, which was meant to be in July but it got cancelled until sept. Hope everyone is well.
