@KittyKatSmile huge congratulations on the safe arrival of Nancy! Any details to share? I love a birth story! She looks absolutely perfect, what a cutie.

@Lalla525 so sorry to hear about the outcome of your scan, what a worrying time. Are you on bed rest or anything?

AliciaWhiskers · 06/03/2020 14:01

@Cauliflower82 how are you doing? I wonder if you have your little one in your arms by now or if I'm being a little optimistic?! I think with my induction with my first it took a while for him to make an appearance after the first pessary, but it's all a while ago now! Thinking of you and hope it's all going well!

Mrbay · 06/03/2020 17:07

so many updates!!

Congratulations on the birth of Tiny Dance AKA mini Keith ;) but she is so lovely, I bet she has that lovely baby smell

Oh @AliciaWhiskers - I forgotten about down regging and stims - I kinda want to continue the blissful head in the sand bliss! Sorry that you aren't having the best time, but fingers crossed it will be worth it!

No update from me, apart from I'd forgotten how lovely it is to be on the pill! No mood swings but I've got no sex drive - poor DH!
But I have nearly lost the IVF weight gain - woohoo!! I'll be back in my size 12s soon, slimfast is my new BFF!

@Cauliflower82 - does that mean you've been induced or waiting for your C section?

Zest11 · 07/03/2020 10:41

@Lalla525 so glad you went to get the scan and they picked up on that. I do actually know of someone who had that so hopefully this will give you some comfort (although it does sound like an extremely stressful experience). It was picked up at about 30 weeks (I can't remember what but my friend said something triggered her to have to go for a scan). She was put in hospital immediately and stayed there for 5/6 weeks. The hope was to get to 35 weeks for a c section but they basically said at any point (hence needing to be in hospital) they may need to perform earlier. Anyway, the baby made it to 35 weeks and was absolutely fine. No issues when she was a newborn nor later and she's 5 now. It's obviously frightening but it's extremely promising they know about this now. Have you gone back to the nhs and have they given you a plan?

@Mrbay amazing about the weight loss - that was flipping quick!! Just goes to show how much havoc the drugs play with our bodies!

@aliciawhiskers I hope you are doing okay and time is going quickly for you to transfer.

I hope you are all enjoying lovely weekends. First of many for some of you with your babies. Smile

Lalla525 · 07/03/2020 12:40

@AliciaWhiskers & @Zest11 thanks very much for the support and reply.

After the private scan I went straight to the nhs triage and they booked another scan for friday (yesterday). I had that scan and they said they could see a marginal cord insertion (basically the cord is not attached at the centre of the placenta but at the very edge, close to the birth canal. They were not sure about the vasa praevia though) and they referred me to FMU at 28 weeks to see if things move/become clearer and how to manage birth. I asked what's the management for vasa praevia and they said they dont do pre-hospitalisation anymore (probably they are too stretched and too underfunded to justify 3 weeks in hospital) and thus got to hope that baby does not come sooner, otherwise there is no time for me to get there in time.

35 weeks sounds so early though, and I feel so sorry for my baby. @Zest11 it is a relief to hear about your friend's story - thanks for sharing. It's such a rare condition that it is difficult to hear from other people's experiences.

Lalla525 · 07/03/2020 12:41

Hope you are all keeping well!! And thanks again Flowers

Cauliflower82 · 10/03/2020 07:43

Damn you ladies are making some cute babies! Huge congratulations @Cauliflower82.

@Lalla525 I have everything crossed for you that things work out well.

Zest11 · 10/03/2020 16:43

@Cauliflower82 awww yayyy so glad he is here! What a cute baby! I have been patiently waiting for your update. I cannot wait to hear more Grin

Zest11 · 11/03/2020 17:33

@Lalla525 I am glad they are going to keep monitoring you. I think what my friend had was Vasa praevia or it may have been what they have found with you as she said something about the placenta not being attached properly. It sounded very complicated and she said it was so rare. Regardless, rest assured that whatever the issue is, there is just no way the medics would just leave you now they know there is an issue. I guess all you can do for your own reassurance is keep an eye on movements and if you need to go in for extra scans for "just to check" do it. :) You've been through enough as it is to get this far. Good luck!!

Welshpugmomma · 12/03/2020 11:04

Morning ladies, firstly congrats @Cauliflower82 with Noah - lovely name and photo loving the yellow :)

Little update from me too, Josiah joined us on planet Earth on Sunday at 11.10, they were right with the weight prediction, he weighed an enormous 9lb12, I came home yest but poor Baba still in NICU for only a few more days we hope, he had respiratory distress during the c section. To say I'm in a bit of pain is the biggest understatement I hate being dependent on others! So glad the DH made it back in time :)

@Welshpugmomma wow what a whopper! Well done you!! He is gorgeous! So sorry you are in pain and hope that feels better soon and hope Josiah (lovely name) is home with you soon too. My first was in NICU for 5 days after birth but is a strong and healthy 11 year old now so hope all goes well for you guys too.

KittyKatSmile · 12/03/2020 17:10

@Welshpugmomma congratulations to you and welcome baby Josiah. Sorry to hear you're in pain. Load up on those painkillers and accept all the help you can. How long is DH off on paternity leave? Sending you so much love. So this round will be 2+2 girls and boys, so cute!!

Lots of love from me and Miss Nancy x

Yayyy congratulations @welshpugmomma wow, he looks so cute! Arghh that is frustrating for you about the pain. Please take all the pain relief given to you and make sure others do everything for you so you can enjoy baby Josiah. I hope he is out of NICU soon and you can bring him home!

I am so looking forward to more updates on literally everything baby related from you all. Xx

AliciaWhiskers · 13/03/2020 12:16

Scan today and lining looks good so starting tomorrow on the lubion injections, the lovely pessaries (I've been told I've got to do them vaginally this time, so I can't even join the BPG gang!) and ET is on Thursday next week. Eeek.

KittyKatSmile · 13/03/2020 12:44

@AliciaWhiskers that's great news! Fingers crossed for you. Shame about the BPG angle; I'll pardon you on this occasion :-)

@Welshpugmomma yay, congratulations and baby Josiah is absolutely perfect! I hope you’re starting to heal a little more now and that Josiah is doing well too.

@aliciawhiskers excellent, I’ll be thinking about you 💕.

Thank you everyone ☺️

Zest11 · 14/03/2020 07:26

@AliciaWhiskers yayy I'm so glad things are moving forwards for you. Everything crossed for you! Also, I'm just an honoury member of the BPG...both my attemps were vaginal too!

@Cauliflower82 looking forward to hearing more of an update from you when you're ready

I hope you have had a restful bit of time off pre baby @Ginandtonic31

Ginandtonic31 · 14/03/2020 08:03

Morning ladies. Apologies, I went absent for a little bit! But happy to see some updates on babies! Congratulations @Welshpugmomma and @Cauliflower82 ! I was happy to see your updates.

I had baby on Tuesday 10th! I've just been absent for a bit as I struggled with coming to terms with the birth tbh and was miserable in hospital. Meet Georgie Imogen. A little club of babies! We got home yesterday evening. She's a little battered and bruised from a forceps delivery but looking better every day.

Welshpugmomma · 14/03/2020 08:50

Omg that POM! So cute @Ginandtonic31!

Good luck @AliciaWhiskers everything crossed for you!

We came home yesterday finally :) so much to learn it's weird being a complete beginner! Having great difficulty with bf as such limited cuddle and skin to skin, let alone breastfeeding opportunity :( I'm literally pumping for Britain and trying to persevere!

Hope you're all well and enjoying the learning curve haha :)

Zest11 · 14/03/2020 09:32

@Ginandtonic31 yayy congratulations! I hope you are recovering okay and make sure you do what's best for you especially in these early weeks. Also, I LOVE the hat. Where did you get it from please? Grin

Zest11 · 14/03/2020 10:27

@Welshpugmomma stick at it for a week or so but if it causes too much distress for whatever reason, don't work yourself up over it. Formula is just as fine too!

AliciaWhiskers · 14/03/2020 16:51

@Welshpugmomma how much skin to skin are they allowing you to have? Are they formula feeding Josiah as well as giving your pumped milk? When my first was born and in NICU the NICU staff weren't terribly helpful regarding getting BF established. There was the most AMAZING midwife on the ward who literally frogmarched me into NICU and demanded that the NICU staff let me try and BF (they were formula feeding him and telling me he wasn't hungry for BF, which was true because they were giving him formula first - bit of a vicious circle). If you can, try and be insistent that they let you try BF little and often and to try BF before they tube/syringe feed. BF takes a while to get the hang of for both of you and is doubly hard when baby is in NICU, so if it doesn't work out then don't give yourself a hard time - you are trying your best and that's all you can do. Good luck xx

AliciaWhiskers · 14/03/2020 16:52

@Welshpugmomma sorry I just read that you are home now. Ignore all that I previously said!! Do you have breastfeeding counsellors local to you? That would be my second tip - call one and ask for help. I had one round a few times and she was great too, really helped us to get going.
