Bad news everyone...I'm bleeding. And it would be on a Friday evening (my clinic is closed at the weekend). My only option is A and E but that seems a bit excessive. I'm also away this weekend too so I'm not sure what to do so I guess I just have to let whatever happen.

Mrbay · 01/11/2019 20:17

Hi @zest11 - I'm not the best to give advice, but it may be the same type of bleed that I think ginandtonic31 had, a hematoma fingers crossed for you 🤞
If you are worried call 111 as they will be able to give you the best advice.
Big hugs

KittyKatSmile · 01/11/2019 22:39

@Zest11 so sorry to hear this darling girl. So many people get bleeding early on and it turns out fine; you will be safe not going to hospital if that's what you want. A&E can only refer you to the EPU anyway I think. May be worth seeing if there's an EPU near where you're going for the weekend. Take care. Thinking of you and sending strength xx

@Zest11 I’m so sorry about the bleeding. How many weeks are you? Would it be worth getting a private scan as you could get one at weekend? Your hcg was high wasn’t it -which means the sack would be seen. I’m sorry its so stressful -I did have a big period red bleed at 5 and half weeks and it managed to hold on. I really hope the same for you.

Thanks all for the well wishes -luckily all looked goodly viability. The lady who performed my ultrasound was the one who did our initial consultation so it was rather lovely. She recommended the harmony test at 10w if I’m anxious. Did anyone do that?

Got bad lower back pain -not sure if it’s pregnancy related or I have slept on it funny or something. Did anyone else get this? Only really get relief lying down. Looking into pregnancy physios -but don’t want to harm baby!

@Mrbay really feel for you. It’s such a tough wait. Try and stay as distracted as possible.

KittyKatSmile · 02/11/2019 16:47

Hi @mouse1234567. I did the Harmony test, yes. I'm really pleased I did as the NHS tests can be really misleading. But also because you can do it earlier. You can also find out the sex at that time if you want to. And with mine I had 2 scans so that was nice as well. Glad things are going well x

@Mrbay thank you so much for that advice, I didn't think to call 111 but did after seeing your post Smile. Got referred to out of hours gp who then referred me to epu who saw me today. The bleeding had thankfully stopped (as now it still has) and they couldn't find the source of it. They said everything is looking as it should be for 5 weeks. It was only a bit but it was red and I thought it was the start of my period. I'm sorry you're finding this tough too, I'm completely with you on the struggling front.

@KittyKatSmile thank you so much for your kind words too, this forum is so so helpful

@mouse1234567 so so pleased for you that your viability scan went well, I really hope things go nice and smooth for you now. Re. Harmony I don't know what that is but I'm sure kittykat said something about getting that done. Also, thank you for your kind words...you were right...with my numbers they could see stuff so it was helpful.

Ginandtonic31 · 02/11/2019 17:11

@Mrbay & @Zest11 I'm so glad both scans went well for you. I hear of so much bleeding in early IVF pregnancies. And in me too. Three times!

I was going to have the Harmony Test but I decided to save my money in the end because our NHS screening was so low risk. If I was worried after the screening I was going to get the Harmony test as it's more accurate but my risk of downs came back as something like 1 in 49,000. I think it depends what your gut feels like that. I'm completely happy with my NHS risk factor.

mouse1234567 · 02/11/2019 17:31

Thanks all-really helpful hearing what you thought of the harmony.

@Zest11 so pleased you had be scan-and I guess they saw the yolk sack? Brilliant news. Hang on in there. Bleeding is scary but does seem very common.

Anyone else had lower back problems in preg?! Reading about it -it seems if you have a weak core you might be more prone to it -and I do!! Apparently all the ligaments are stretching.

Zest11 · 02/11/2019 22:22

@Ginandtonic31 thank you so much. That's interesting to read about the harmony test...will be something to consider later.

@mouse1234567 yes there was a yolk sac...even though there's not much to see it is quite fascinating to see what can happen in just 2 and a bit weeks! Yes the nurse said 50% of women experience blood in early preg (I didn't realise it was that common)! She said it was likely to be implantation (which I thought I'm a bit late for) or to have been the progesterone as mine are front entrance rather than back passage!

Thank you all for being so kind, caring and helpful. I wish there was a way of just being able to come on to the Internet and come on here but filter/block Dr Google!

Mrbay · 02/11/2019 23:27

Hey all, I've started bleeding a few hours ago, seen the out of hours gp who didn't seem overly concerned.

This may be TMI, but did you all pass clots?

Zest11 · 03/11/2019 14:08

Hi @Mrbay I hope you are okay. Did the gp refer you to the EPU? That's where you need to be as tney can scan you and monitor bloods.

I think mouse and ginandtonic had heavyish bleeds. Good luck to you xxx

mouse1234567 · 03/11/2019 17:01

@Mrbay so sorry you too are bleeding. It’s such a stress. My big bleed was very heavy and some clots. I passed a lot of blood. Are you on aspirin or blood thinners? I was and think that made it worse. Try and get to an EPU tomorrow. Quite a few are walk in self referral. Mine st UCLH was.

I have still have light spotting on and off and all seems to be ok. I really hope yours is.

mouse1234567 · 03/11/2019 17:02

How any weeks are you? How much blood is it? @Mrbay could be implantation?

Mrbay · 03/11/2019 17:12

Hey, the out of hours GP wasn't concerned (I had to show him my pad - what a weird experience). He said there wasn't enough blood for a misscarriage but after I left, I passed a weird clear clot which I think is/was the sac or possibly Barry the weird cyst/failed embryo.

The bright red bleeding stopped after a few hours and was less than my day 1/2 of my period. I've just had brown spotting today and lower back and abdomen pain.

I'll call my clinic tomorrow and ask to bloods even if I have to pay as the not knowing is the worst.

Zest11 · 03/11/2019 17:34

@mrbay That does seem weird and gross you had to show the doctor your pad but I suppose that's what needs to be done. The clear clot thing sounds like a cyst, especially if you have endometriosis. I would have thought if it was the sac the bleeding would be heavier but I am no expert. You are right to call your clinic tomorrow and yes...the uncertainty of everything is just horrible. xx

Mrbay · 03/11/2019 17:59

It's so they can understand how heavy it is, plus they want to see anything you have passed.
That's what I think as it wasn't heavy, heavy and I passed about 3-5 clots so not that many but the blood was very watery.

Mrbay · 05/11/2019 17:58

I'm 90% sure I'm out, went to EPU on Monday and my IVF consultant was there so that was handy!
Due to it still being early, they wouldn't scan me and have told me to test on Monday and return if it's positive.
The nurse I saw was so lovely but she did a pregnancy test and said it was a weak positive.
I'm going to call my clinic tomorrow and see if I can stop meds as I've not stopped bleeding since Sunday evening and it's pretty heavy.

Zest11 · 05/11/2019 19:06

@Mrbay I'm so so sorry to read your update. I really hope you are okay. If what you think is happening is actually happening, that is so so cruel. Stay strong. I am thinking of you xxxxxx

Mrbay · 05/11/2019 19:49

Hey @zest11 - thank you but it's ok, I'm more annoyed that I've been told to wait and see, as if it's over I could take proper painkillers, selfish I know but I cannot deal with the pain!
I was so angry about it yesterday but today I've accepted that this embryo wasn't suitable for life and that's ok. Next time may be better.

How is everyone doing?

Zest11 · 05/11/2019 20:08

@Mrbay that is not selfish at all...it's completely understandable and the human brain copes better with definitive answers rather than uncertainties. Also, if you're in pain then that must be even worse! I hope you get the answers you need from your clinic tomorrow.

Nothing new with me, actually really glad to be back at work after half term last week xx

mouse1234567 · 06/11/2019 20:18

@Mrbay so sorry to hear of your update, I remember feeling the same with my chemical in June, I just wanted confirmation to stop meds and let nature take it’s course. It’s so hard though, sending a hug.

@Zest11 how’s the bleeding? Hope ok. I still get some spotting for time to time so who knows!

In other news -I know the teachers will feel my pain, we got the OFSTED call yesterday, stayed at school so late yesterday and had the most stressful day today. Roll on 3.30 tomorrow!! I am so exhausted. Never known work stress like it!! Worried I have put the baby under stress! Bled more today! I have been teaching 9 years so I’m quite lucky , this is my first OFSTED.

KittyKatSmile · 07/11/2019 02:08

@Mrbay I'm so sorry to read of your news. It sounds like you're in a very positive frame of mind, but take time for yourself and look after yourself. Loss is hard whenever it happens. Be kind to yourself.

@mouse1234567 that sounds horrific. And it must feel so personal. Maybe try to detach yourself from the situation (that is what I have done with great success from my work recently. It doesn't sit well with me but it's the best thing overall). Or of course just go in there and kill it.

Love to all x

Hey girls,

I had my breakdown about it all on Monday and now I'm just ready to discuss why it may have happened and get the next transfer booked in.

I'm just in physical pain still and I doubt they'll let me stop the meds until the test is negative or they scan me on Monday. I think it's quite obvious it's over. I passed a lot of the stuff on Saturday evening, so I'm not sure why I'm still in so much pain. From Dr Google it looks like I had a blighted ovum.

Oh ofsted, that sounds fun!

KittyKatSmile · 07/11/2019 22:32

@Mrbay I'm so sorry to hear this. I'd probably say you can take a codeine or two if you want to now. My GP in Guernsey told me I could take it whilst pregnant to deal with my migraines. Whilst I actually don't agree with that advice (now), I did take some and things are still ok. I mean, I could have harmed the little one I suppose but not seriously. You know what I mean. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. The not knowing is the worst x

OP posts:
Mrbay · 08/11/2019 13:25

Hey all, I went back to the EPU this morning and saw a very lovely doc who agreed to scan me.
There wasn't anything there, which yes is sad but thankfully I've passed the bits naturally. Waiting for my clinic to call me back so I can find out next steps and arrange a follow up.
I'm more concerned about DH as he seems to be taking it badly, he's the very optimistic one in the relationship, where as I'm more data driven.

I hope every one else is having successful and relaxing pregnancies Smile
