Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

Hi I’m new here,
Just about to try Clomid on my next cycle been Ttc for over a year I had a pituitary gland tumour which I’m under care of the endocrinologist and all levels seen to be returning to normal. I’ve had this for 8-9 years now and have conceived naturally 7 years ago who is now over 6. So I know I have problems conceiving naturally but recently found out I have a cyst on right ovary am awaiting seeing the gyno team so doubt I’ll be able to start Clomid now. My bmi is still 32 after losing nearly 9st in a year thought would make easier to conceive but obviously that’s not the case. I did clear blue ovulation tests and only hit peak once and had a lot of pains down there which was the cyst. Atm I have been told I need to get under 30bmi to be referred for fertility help but I’ve also been told by my bariatric team I’m not allowed to lose any more weight am currently in a no win situation which is why we brought Clomid from an online pharmacy in America sorry for the long rambling post any advice would be great please no bashing for buying online desperate times

lori2019 · 19/07/2019 06:09

@Gd1988 sounds like you are having a horrible time, it must be so stressful. Not bashing but you really should talk to your doctor before taking clomid - there are processes and tests in place for good reason. Your time will come again.

seven201 · 19/07/2019 07:19

@Gd1988 I think clomid can have side effects of cysts for some women. I really think you should see medical advice as you could be doing more damage, growing the cyst or making new ones. Maybe go for a one off private consultation so they can talk through your options. I completely understand your frustration, but you really don't want to make the problem worse.

doomkittycleo · 19/07/2019 07:33

@Gd1988, the ladies above are absolutely right. I was having it unmonitored via an nhs specialist and paid for a private consultation because I hadn’t conceived after 4 cycles of clomid.

They did ultrasounds and discovered that I had a minimum of 5 mature follicles and told me not to BD as this would be a dangerous risk of multiples.

I’m currently anxious sitting around crossing my fingers that I don’t land in hospital with ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome.

Imagine if I hadn’t got the scans when I did.

At very least your Dr needs to discuss the risks with you, so you know what to watch for.

HmBuddy · 19/07/2019 08:48

Hi everyone...
I've taken my first round of clomid (had horrible side effects and was basically bed bound for a day 😔... But sure) and got a positive opk yesterday... Fingers crossed!
I had a couple of months delay before I could start clomid as I have a 3cm cyst on my left hand side which they were hoping would go away. It shrunk very slightly so they suggested I started the tablets. Had my scan done on day 13 and the cyst had now slightly grown. Had anyone experience of this?
Thanks!

P. S. Congrats to all the BFPs..... Hearing your news is keeping my hopes up 😊

impatientmammy · 19/07/2019 11:44

@Goingbacktokansascity is your OPK any stronger? I took a few yesterday just getting weaker only three left so one a day now x

Marmite83 · 19/07/2019 12:32

Thanks for all the 'good luck' wishes everyone. Fingers crossed this is the answer for us!

Jesskir89 · 19/07/2019 12:58

@marmite83 good luck! Keep us posted x

Goingbacktokansascity · 19/07/2019 20:20

@impatientmammy they’re getting weaker too ☹️ It’s so frustrating. Maybe I ovulated early but I doubt it so I’m just gonna keep going but fully expecting no pregnancy this month. I think I’ll need to up the dose next month

doomkittycleo · 19/07/2019 21:03

@Goingbacktokansascity, I ovulated on CD6 and CD9 the last 2 months of clomid (before clomid I usually got a positive opk on CD16), so it really can change things drastically.

Unfortunately this cycle I matured several eggs, but not sure I released any as the biggest one got to 30mm and the smallest were 17/18mm. It looks like the early ovulation could have been a warning that the dose I was on was too high, but until I had my ultrasound had no way of knowing.

The fact that I matured 5+ eggs suggests that the clomid has been too effective.

That’s why I’m stopping it for next cycle (whenever af arrives as my BBT never went up after my surge (almost 6 days ago).

Are you charting your BBT? This is a really good indicator of when you actually ovulated.

AmyMaria2 · 20/07/2019 01:11

@doomkittycleo If you had too many mature follicles due to the clomid, are they going to monitor your more from now on? Or are you stopping clomid?
It's so lucky you got the scans when you did x

Flashesofrage · 20/07/2019 02:10

New in here 👋

I’m on CD6 of my first clomid cycle. Yey!!!
Anovulatory DUB since age 15; laparoscopy in March confirmed no physical issues.
Have been TTC in earnest for a year but knew I would need help. Had to go through the motions and give up and go private to get anyone to listen!

I’m referred to the fertility clinic finally. But for now my private doc has told me to take clomid 50mg days 2-6 and try it for three months (unless I don’t ov at all).

I won’t be having any scans at this point but she has booked me in for day 21 Prog testing.

Grin

Feeling optimistic but curious about Clomid side effects. I’ve had absolutely none... anyone else been successful on it while feeling completely normal?

Cheers x

Jesskir89 · 20/07/2019 07:26

Hi @Flashesofrage I've been successful but also psychotic from the chlomid you're so lucky!

doomkittycleo · 20/07/2019 08:05

@AmyMaria2, I’ve done 5 rounds now and given the number of mature follicles I am stopping the clomid. I think if it’s was gonna work this time round it would have done by now.

We’re trying naturally for a couple of months and if no luck by September we’re gonna start ivf.

impatientmammy · 20/07/2019 09:18

@Flashesofrage welcome my first cycle I had no symptoms and a BFP x

Goingbacktokansascity · 20/07/2019 09:40

@doomkittycleo thanks for letting me know about the early ovulation, I was on letrozole day 5-9 this cycle so maybe the high at day 10 was early ovulation, I can’t eveen remember if I did the deed 🙈 my temp charts look like mountain ranges no clear rise or fall at all

seven201 · 20/07/2019 10:19

@Goingbacktokansascity what cd are you on now? On day 10 my opk often looked positive but that was actually just the clomid or tamoxifen still in my system I think. I ovulated later on day 18 ish.

gwen7896 · 20/07/2019 11:14

I’m now on CD10 of my first Clomid round but I’m too nervous to start using OPKs [ Scan is for CD 16... How silly am I haha x

Goingbacktokansascity · 20/07/2019 11:42

@seven201CD 17 for me 🤞🏽 Completely faint OPK today

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/07/2019 13:53

Has anyone had a 21 day progesterone checked when I'm clomide or Letrazole? I phoned for mine today (it was actually day 20) and the result was 40. The nurse said that was good for ovulation. Im pleased but also slightly disappointed as the month we conceived my result was way higher.

Jesskir89 · 20/07/2019 14:57

@squirrelnutkins1 I had 3 blood tests. My first was at 24, second at 5 then they put me on 100mg and it went to 89. 40 is good. Anything over 30 you're ovulating x
