New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

@mouse1234567 I'm lucky in that i can work from home and my clinic is really close but in saying that my appointments were always really early in the morning so i was never really that late for work. For EC I told work i had a minor procedure and needed the day off and then my ET was on sunday so i had just booked off monday to rest. At the time my boss was in the middle of relocating so she was very distracted. Its funny coz last year when i did IUI my boss was on holidays so i didn't need to explain to anyone why i was late etc....lucky timing eh!

@Mouse1234567 I’m similar to @AliceAbsolum that my work has an ivf policy that entitles you to 5 days leave which I’ve used for appts. I had planned to take my own leave as well after ET but didn’t need to in the end with the clinic signing me off. I had told my manager so luckily this didn’t come as a complete surprise.

Good luck with your scans today ladies x

Had my scan today - no pain!! 😁💪🏼 All is still looking on track though they said it’s too early yet to give a date for EC. I am a little baffled though as they only told me about 14 follicles today - where have the other 6 gone?! They didn’t seem concerned and have kept me on same meds until Monday 🤔 how did you get on today @aliceabsolum x

2019isouryear · 26/04/2019 16:16

@Hopingforbabyd yay for no pain. They problem just mentioned the follicles that are close to size I reckon. Not long to wait for ur next scan 😀

2019isouryear · 26/04/2019 16:46

Meant probably not problem

Hopingforbabyd · 26/04/2019 17:03

@2019isouryear thank you for the reassurance 😘 my lining is now 11.7 but they said they’re still happy with it. I just wanna know when I’m gonna be pulling that trigger 😍 do you know how much a follicle can grow in 3 days? X

Wesstywoo · 26/04/2019 17:11

@Hopingforbabyd glad your scan was pain free today! Fingers crossed for EC soon xx

2019isouryear · 26/04/2019 17:15

@Hopingforbabyd they can grow up to 2mm a day. I didn’t get my sizes on my last scan but going by my first scan I reckon one that was about 13mm caught up and became mature. I think mon cud be trigger day for u Smile

2019isouryear · 26/04/2019 17:16

That was within 3 days as scans were fri and mon. So excited for u @Hopingforbabyd

mouse1234567 · 26/04/2019 21:33

@AliceAbsolum that’s brilliant news! And exciting re trigger. Rest up over the weekend.

AliceAbsolum · 26/04/2019 22:09

@Hopingforbabyd excellent that there was no pain. Slow and steady wins the race! When's your next one?
Nurse said to me ewcm is good news because of all the estrogen.

I'm going down first as there are no icsi ladies, 7.30am. so relieved, big weight off my mind. Need to borrow a dressing gown, I don't own oneConfused

@AliceAbsolum this is fantastic news! How are you feeling about it? Am I right in saying I saw on a previous post you have a phobia of sick? I too have this phobia and all I can think about is what bag to take in the car just Incase I’m ill it makes me too nervous 🙈
My next scan is Monday afternoon. I’m praying they’ve got to where they need to be by then x

AliceAbsolum · 26/04/2019 22:29

@hopingforbabyd Emetephobics unite! Sorry to hear you struggle with it. So traumatic to live with sometimes. I used to be much worse but over the years I've had a lot of therapy to manage my anxiety.
I told the clinic from day 1 because I wanted more anti emetics than usual. I feel sick because I'm hypoglycemic so 4 hours without drinking or eating would not be fun.
Have you had CBT for it?

Hopingforbabyd · 26/04/2019 22:46

@aliceabsolum bless you I completely get where you’re coming from. I haven’t had any treatment for it. Sounds stupid but sometimes I sit and panic myself about one day having a child and them having a sickness bug and if it’s really worth it. That sounds awful but I really struggle if people say they’re sick, feel sick or I see them throw up and then when it’s happening to me it’s even worse especially if I’m put in a situation where I have no control - I don’t drink because I’m scared of spewing and when I had a general my anxiety went through the roof but they gave me plenty of anti sickness for it. My clinic reassured me I’d be given it but that it’s not something they’ve come across. I should probably get some therapy for it tbh 🙈

Wesstywoo · 27/04/2019 05:55

@AliceAbsolum I have low AMH too - you've got great numbers there!! Best of luck for your EC on Monday! xx

Wesstywoo · 27/04/2019 09:07

Ok so I've carried on testing. Today 9dp5dt - tests are still positive but faint and I'm not getting any real line progression so I think this might be a chemical. Stepping away from the tests until OTD on Wednesday as I'm driving myself mad Confused

mouse1234567 · 27/04/2019 09:26

@WesstyWoo I’m so sorry you aren’t seeing Line progression-it must be so stressful. Will you be having a blood test on Wednesday? Sending hugs

Thank you everyone for your feedback re work -it’s interesting to hear different perspectives. Just trying to work out if I want to ask to go down to 4 days a week next academic year.

@hopingforbabyd and @AliceAbsolum I also hate being sick -around it etc! It’s such a fear! I avoid people like the plague!! Don’t worry tho as anti-nausea stuff they give you is good. After the EC you feel quite high so you don’t really worry about it.

Wesstywoo · 27/04/2019 09:39

@mouse1234567 no annoyingly I don't get a blood test - I had a similar thing happen on my fresh cycle where I got a BFP on OTD but AF showed up on the same day. They just told me to keep testing but it took well over a week to turn negative!

mouse1234567 · 27/04/2019 09:43

@WesstyWoo I’m so sorry to hear this -it must be all the harder after your first cycle experience. This journey is so tough. I’m really hoping that the line will get darker in a few days. Would it be worth finding somewhere you could pay for a blood test to put your mind at rest? Although maybe is it too early for a blood test?

Wesstywoo · 27/04/2019 09:50

Yes I will see what happens on Wednesday and I could perhaps pay a private GP or something xx
