New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

So sorry to hear that you are going through this @Wesstwoo really hoping that you start to see the progression.

I’ve had the call this morning and the good news is that all 6 eggs are still going and whist not bad news 1 is classed as poor and 5 average which made me feel a little despondent but the nurse has said things can still change. This is all new to me so not sure what I should be thinking, but still trying to channel positive vibes as the main thing I’m telling myself is that none have been taken out the running. Just wondered what others experiences of their update on day 3 was and am I overthinking. Booked in for 5 day transfer on Mon.

Wesstywoo · 27/04/2019 11:37

Thank you @2019isouryear

Great to hear you have several in the running, that's really good news - best of luck for ET on Monday! xx

2019isouryear · 27/04/2019 18:12

Good luck with your trigger tonight @AliceAbsolum

Hopingforbabyd · 27/04/2019 19:45

@wesstywoo I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through it isn’t a nice process, try to stay positive though. Your body has lots and lots of meds in it and can mess things up a little but I’m still holding onto hope for you for your OTD.

@aliceabsolum I have been thinking of you...good luck with trigger tonight! What time you doing it? Monday will be here before you know it!

Question ladies, I keep meaning to ask the nurse with regards to things like fake tan, hair dying (my hairdresser will only do cap now as she doesn’t want to put any on my scalp which is understandable) gel nails (home kit) can we use them during stims? I haven’t dared do anything and I must admit I’m starting to look a little shabby and could do with a boost 😄

2019isouryear · 27/04/2019 20:15

@Hopingforbabyd not sure about stims but for EC I was told no make up, nail varnish, perfume, strong dedorants so I reckon fake tan would be a no no.

Hopingforbabyd · 27/04/2019 21:09

Thank you @2019isouryear I think I’ll hold off until after EC 😊 how are you doing? X

AliceAbsolum · 27/04/2019 21:15

It was 19.30....and it was incredibly stressful. Small amounts of liquid kept leaking out while I was drawing up the power, so stressful! But I got I reckon 98% in so that's that. Very pleased it's my last one.
Mum lent me a dressing gown today for Monday, I'm excited now 😀

@hopingforbabyd I think it's fine, they care about their success rates so if something impact on that they would say. Good luck for your Monday scan X

@2019isouryear Kind of confusing update for you from the clinic... they're doing what they should but not high quality? Does that mean they're currently set for getting a 2:1 rather a 1st?! Hope you get some more clarity soon.

@westywoo, so difficult, really hope things start going strong again x

@Hopingforbabyd not to bad on count down to mon for ET 🤞🏻 the little embies keep growing.

@AliceAbsolum glad that you’ve got it done. Try and relax and enjoy no injections tomorrow. Think they meant cell wise they were what they wud expect, but the cells r slightly uneven so makes them average, but that cud change and others can catch up. The science baffles me I shud of left asking and just wait and see what happens on mon. The good news is they’re all still in the running. If average quality they are talking about transferring 2 which slightly scares the crap out of me and DH.

AliceAbsolum · 27/04/2019 21:48

@hopingforbabyd Meant to say yesterday - therapy for the phobia was life changing for me. Difficult process to say the least but hugely worth it. You can self refer to your local iapt service for evidence based treatment.

@2019isouryear 2, eep. Yes my clinic keep saying the same. Such a hard decision- risk extra complications or risk bfn...who can choose either way? Having 2 babies in the NICU is not a trauma I want to risk in life. But nor do I want a bfn... But what can you do? Make the best decision you can based on your family.

@aliceabsolum well done you!! So happy for you that it’s all done with now and you can relax until Monday. No more shots yay! Have a lovely day tomorrow ready for your big day 😍💐
@2019isouryear so glad to hear they’re all progressing still but it is confusing with the science bit isn’t it. You have come so far, Monday is the day! And they’ll be back where they belong. So exciting for the possibility of 2, they told us we would probably be the same if grades are good not top and we too about fell through the floor 🙈 it’s a scary thought but you have come so far and you deserve to be given the very best chance...and if both take...amazing!! 🥰

Wesstywoo · 28/04/2019 08:46

@AliceAbsolum well done! Best of luck for EC tomorrow and enjoy your injection free day today!

mouse1234567 · 28/04/2019 08:51

@2019isouryear the grading etc is hard to understand but remember you still have lots in the running and average is not bad! I want an average child ha! Hand on in there till tomo.

@AliceAbsolum well done on trigger -hope you are managing to relax today.

AliceAbsolum · 28/04/2019 08:54

Thanks lovely ladies! Watching the London marathon today with my running club. Much fun.

Think I’ll give up trying to understand the science @Hopingforbabyd and excited to get them as you say ‘back where they belong’

Thanks @mouse1234567 I’d definitely be happy with average.

@AliceAbsolum enjoy the marathon better to be watching the running. Done that once not sure I’d do it again.

Hopingforbabyd · 28/04/2019 09:52

@aliceabsolum enjoy the marathon watching! I always get this sense of nostalgia when the marathons on I think it’s because summer is just around the corner 🥰
@2019isouryear most certainly!! How are you feeling about tomorrow? I’m excited for you.
@mouse1234567 how are you getting on?

Ladies, during your stims before EC did your boobies hurt like they would after ovulation? I’ve woken up today with the heaviest boobs and everything everywhere is sore I’m hoping this means EC is soon 😁

2019isouryear · 28/04/2019 10:59

@Hopingforbabyd thank you I’m both nervous and excited. So happy to get this far. During the last few days my boobs were so tender, was such a relief taking my bra off, and I’m sure my nipples looked liked they had doubled in size and were permanently standing to attention 😂 hopefully you will find out tomorrow about trigger 🤞🏻 for u

mouse1234567 · 28/04/2019 14:54

@Hopingforbabyd yes my boobs were so sore a few days leading to EC and continued to be sore after (and remember I wasn’t on any progesterone so must have been the stimms) they only actually stopped being sore a week after when I got my period. I hope you can trigger soon-not long now for you I don’t think.

I’n getting on ok thanks -slightly anxious I still haven’t heard from the hospital about a date for my hysteroscopy and that it might hold things up but also hoping that I will hear from them early next week. Had a good chat with a friend this morning about the balancing all this with work and has decided this week I’m going to ask my boss to go down to 4 days next academic year -but nervous-wish me luck! She knows me well and thinks it’s a good decision. I think a bit less stress and a bit more joy would make life easier.

Hopingforbabyd · 28/04/2019 18:26

@2019isouryear @mouse1234567 thank you both for the reassurance I’m finding everything so fascinating I was just laying in my (warm 😄😫) bath thinking how my body is just going with the meds and how crazy it’s been waiting all this time to get to this point and now I’m finally here, it’s all a bit surreal isn’t it. I’ll keep you posted about tomorrow. Got some serious bloat going on this evening and it looks way more than a Sunday dinner haha.
Mouse I’m really hoping you hear from the hospital soon, is it your general hospital who should be in touch or is it through the clinic?

Ginandtonic31 · 28/04/2019 18:45

@Hopingforbabyd mine were really painful my last round too.

Not much happening here. Still suffering with my mental health. One day I can be happy and high, the next completely rock bottom.

Hopingforbabyd · 28/04/2019 19:03

Bless you @ginandtonic31 it is a rollercoaster of emotions and you’re allowed to feel all the feels. Has your clinic got a fertility councillor to help you on your journey? We are here to keep you on your highs during your lows and of course to help keep those spirits high on your best days ❤️

2019isouryear · 28/04/2019 20:55

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow @hopingforbabyd 🤞🏻it’ll be trigger time for u, @AliceAbsolum wishing u plenty of eggs and @pleaseletitmebe hope ur little embies get snuggled in (hope I’ve not missed anyone off) x

Hopingforbabyd · 28/04/2019 20:59

@2019isouryear thank you! I hope so! I’ll keep you posted. I felt like tonight was the last night of stims but we will see 🤞🏼
@aliceabsolum wishing you all the luck in the world for tomorrow!
@pleaseletitbeme I wish you lots of luck too!
