New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

Pleaseletitbeme · 05/08/2019 13:38

Hoping! What wonderful wonderful news!!!

My OH went off to work this morning and I was bored and sick of house work. So I did a POS and it’s a strong positive.
I’m praying we do better than six weeks this time.
Good luck girls!!

Hopingforbabyd · 05/08/2019 14:04

@Pleaseletitbeme amazing news!! Hope the next 9 months all go smoothly from here! I'm so happy for you!

Pleaseletitbeme · 05/08/2019 15:03

Viletta thank you.
I’ve not told anyone yet- well you guys!

AliceAbsolum · 05/08/2019 15:14

@pleaseletitbeme Ahhhhh!! How exciting. Really really hope you have better luck this time.

If I don't count today, or Friday, which is the day I'm going for the blood test (then have to wait til 6pm for DH to get home) then I have 3 days to wait. But in reality I still won't know in exactly 4 days time. Ok, 4 days to go. Come on thats not that long.

Feel pretty grotty today, couldn't finish my lunch (which never happens!) but I've been on this rollercoaster of hope 42 times now, it always ends the same way.

@AliceAbsolum I'm same, home today and going crazy.. ate half a tub of ice cream. I gained so much wait since starting IVF last year.. at least a stone and a half. Never saw a hint of bfp..

AliceAbsolum · 05/08/2019 15:45

@Viletta Keep busy keep busy! Oh I hear you about the weight-gain, my consultant tole me to put on a stone (apparently a BMI under 20 isn't actually good for fertility, despite all other health care professionals and NICE guidance saying its fine Angry). I always wonder if I had not spent the first 2 years TTC with a BMI 18.5-19 whether we would have had success. In good news IVF has a better chance of working for women who are obese than underweight - which means fat is a good thing! Something about estrogen production and the endocrine system. I'm rambling now Hmm

I’ve gained loads of weight-10kg.
My diet hasn’t changed either. Hahaha.
I am so hungry. Unbelievably hungry. And itchy. And spotty.

Viletta · 05/08/2019 18:15

My BMI is 27.8... It used to be 24 when I went on a healthy eating when typing naturally 3 years ago. Ttcing naturally was a nightmare though.. 2ww every month!

Wow what an exciting few days for lots of you.

@Hopingforbabyd so glad to hear transfer went well -and you have some great grade frozen embies too! It’s a comfort to know they are there if you need them. Good luck for the tww.

@Pleaseletitbeme this is great news! What dpt are you? Do you think one or two stuck??

@AliceAbsolum hang on in there -you have done brilliantly -you don’t have too much longer now!

All is well with me -my mind is fairly far away from ttc (as far as it can be when you really want a baby! ) -off to Greece on wed and have told hubby I’m not allowed to think or talk about ttc the whole week-this will be a challenge for me! I did the maths today and think I will start downregging in about 3 weeks. Also -time is flying for me as I’m all relaxed on my school summer hols!

Hopingforbabyd · 06/08/2019 09:16

Oh ladies. I need to put this somewhere and my first thought was you. So my positivity has not lasted long. Who am I even kidding?! I woke up this morning feeling really lightheaded and like I didn't know what I was doing. I somehow make my way to work and see one of my colleagues only to burst out crying and have the biggest panic attack I've ever had 😓 this process is so overwhelming and I think this time round I really tried my damn hardest to be positive and act "normal" it's all come crashing down I don't even know why I feel so sad. Currently sat in my office trying to calm down as work are sending me home. I just....I don't even....I don't even know what to think or how to feel. All I know is I won't kid myself, IVF is fucking hard and hats off to all you ladies who are going through this process too!

Viletta · 06/08/2019 11:14

@Hopingforbabyd oh, it is so hard! Can you take rest of the week off? Sometimes you just need a good rest, lots of sleep. I find it hard being at home in my own and planned some activities, will go to the garden center to pick up some plants on sale, perhaps little shopping? Do you have a friend or family you can chat with? Ivf is really really hard and sometimes it's just impossible to stay positive and it feels like it will never happen. We are strong brave women for trying though. I find it hard to be positive this time around but distracting myself really help. Take care of yourself and feel free to moan here, we are all here for support. X

Pleaseletitbeme · 06/08/2019 12:44

Hoping I feel so much for you.
I feel really weird.... I can’t get my hopes up as I’m too frightened it’s all going to end in tears and miscarriage again.
I haven’t been office based since the start of May. I just trundle from place to place doing stuff from my home/car/office.
There is a girl at work who is pregnant and I just don’t want to see her. full stop!

AliceAbsolum · 06/08/2019 13:52

@Hopingforbabyd Oh no, panic is horrible. You're going through a lot, take it easy. Read this: www.selfhelpguides.ntw.nhs.uk/penninecare/leaflets/selfhelp/Panic.pdf It's super informative. Glad work were helpful, why not take a few days off x

@mouse1234567 Oo Greece sounds fab, a break from it all before it starts again should be just whats needed.

@Pleaseletitbeme Can't imagine how anxiety provoking it is for you. I think anyone would feel the same, hard to get hopes up when you have that smashed before. There are 4 pregnant people where I work atm, its a stress isn't it.
