New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

@Pleaseletitbeme Thanks for checking in. I'm OK! Staying sane. I'm 5dp5dt, I've booked a hcg blood test for a weeks time, not going to buy any anxiety-sticks. I can't stare at another bfn, or shine lights on the tiny evap lines that FRERs appear to have now. I'm after cold hard quantifiable data 😅 To be fair I'll probably start bleeding before then, because I'm not that lucky.
@Viletta I had my transfer the day before you at Reprofit! Bet we walked past each other in Brno 😅

@Hopingforbabyd 10 is such a great number, so pleased, are you going to hear from the embryologist today?

@mouse1234567 @Pleaseletitbeme Interesting discussion about 2 transferred. At 34 I was always dead against it because I want a live birth, you know, worries about complications, but if this transfer fails it will be on to my 3rd cycle with 2 previous transfers and 4 years ttc... I know I'm young in IVF terms, but I wonder if they would consider 2. Do you know if it is generally a flat no if you're under 40? I don't have the money to keep doing this and some embryos do not survive the thaw.

@phreedam Hope you're OK.

@Hopingforbabyd @AliceAbsolum thanks for
Chcking up on me it really made me smile when I saw the Mumsnet notifications
I'm ok, been a bit down about this whole ivf thing- having had two cycles and not made it to transfer both times.
We had our appointment at lister last week and I must say I had renewed hope because Dr.Nicopoullos was absolutely amazing! So we are going ahead with them after I get a few tests done, waiting for my period in a couple of weeks then we can start again.

@Hopingforbabyd im super duper excited for you, can't wait to hear what the embryologist tell you- you must be watching your phone call airing for it to ring!
@AliceAbsolum we are the same sort of people, can deal with wishy washy lines, I'm with you on the hcg numbers- all the best hun xxx

phreedam · 02/08/2019 08:59

@Pleaseletitbeme thanks for thinking of me too xxx (sorry about the typos in the previous post!)

Hopingforbabyd · 02/08/2019 09:48

We got the call! 10 eggs all fertilised...6 have made it to embryo stage all graded good/great! ET scheduled for Monday unless anything changes tomorrow. Really chuffed as last time we only had 3 embryos and 1 catching up.

@phreedam so pleased to hear you’ve found someone who is taking a different approach to your last 2 cycles, make sure you keep us updated. I’m rooting for you!

Viletta · 02/08/2019 11:00

@AliceAbsolum haha! What a coincidence! We actually stayed in Prague this time around so we're in Brno very briefly. Good call for hcg testing! They seem to give very long time before official test date, mine is 12 August, but I'll be testing at least the day before on the weekend. How are you feeling? I'm 4dp5dt, feeling heavy and weird burning sensation down there. I can't bring myself to hoping it might work this time.. had 2 failed cycles and already thinking when to go next time if this one doesn't work. I've luckily have another frosty left. FET is so much easier than full cycle and so much cheaper!

Viletta · 02/08/2019 11:00

@Hopingforbabyd great news!! Hopefully you'll have plenty left for freezing!

Pleaseletitbeme · 02/08/2019 11:44

Hoping! What wonderful news.
I don’t feel any different- but it’s only 3 days,
I’m trying not to obsess. Finding it easier this time round.

Hopingforbabyd · 02/08/2019 12:20

Thanks ladies 🥰 I feel so happy this time round as hopefully we’re in with a better chance for some to freeze. I feel so ahhhh 😊 but I won’t count my eggs just yet (no pun intended)

AliceAbsolum · 02/08/2019 13:36

@Hopingforbabyd 6 on day 3 is fab fab fab. Surely you will have at least one to freeze if you need it.

@phreedam Great news! Hope the Lister changes things and gets you your baby.

@Pleaseletitbeme I'm finding this 2ww easier too, I think 2nd time round I'm better at knowing what to do. I've stopped Googling everything and I'm just keeping distracted. Not buying any FRERs which is also helping. Plus if it doesn't work I know we will go back and do another round in Oct, so its not as crucial as it was with my only funded round with my eggs last time.
Really hope it goes quickly and we get a sticky BFPs.

I'm 4dp5dt and feeling af coming.. burning sensation and back ache... so much more waiting before I find out...

Viletta · 02/08/2019 17:00

I find this blog is so true and so funny.. I need and IVF WTF computing book! www.google.co.uk/amp/s/adultingisabitch.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/4dp5dt/amp/

AliceAbsolum · 03/08/2019 15:31

@Viletta Funny blog, I stalked her on insta and she's pregnant now.

I'm 6dp5dt today and just starting to unravel. My brains like "maybe you should test early". Lord give me patience.

OP posts:
Viletta · 03/08/2019 22:34

@AliceAbsolum when's your test date? I think better to hold off, if it's a bfp you'll see it anyway later on. If it's bfn I'd be obsession thinking i tested early and re-test daily feeling sorry for myself still having to take all the meds. My test date is next Monday which would be 14dp5dt.. but I'm planning to test on Saturday or Sunday.. when are you thinking? 6dp5dt is way too early I think it should be at least 10dp

Viletta · 03/08/2019 22:44

@AliceAbsolum do you baby any symptoms? I feel nothing at all.. which I think it's a good thing for me, it's 4 days till my af is due and I normally feel it coming a week in advance. However last time I had a two week delay all due to progesterone

Pleaseletitbeme · 03/08/2019 22:44

I’m due to test 10/8.
However tonight for about 2/3 hours I’ve had waxing and waning pain 6/10. In my left side.
They’ve just about gone now. It’s not like any pain I’ve had before.
Bad news on the way I’m guessing.
I’ll have to go to hospital if it doesn’t stay away. :-(

Viletta · 04/08/2019 00:07

@Pleaseletitbeme hope it's nothing serious:( see how you feel tomorrow and let us know.. I wonder if you suspect an ectopic, would they do beta test in the A&E to find out?

Pleaseletitbeme · 04/08/2019 11:37

Hi!
I’m fine this morning. :-)
Hope everyone doing ok! Goodness only knows what it was!!

AliceAbsolum · 04/08/2019 19:39

@Viletta My official test date on Sunday, which I think is ridiculous tbh. Thats 19dpo! Yes I can understand some people might not show a BFP before then, but as long as you carry on taking meds, then it would be ok.
I've got a blood test booked for Friday. I need to just stop looking at pictures of peoples strong BFP lines at 6dp5dt. Do we know why clinics have such late test dates?

I've had no symptoms before today, but I've been feeling weird all day. AF cramps :( really hungry, lightheaded, slightly sore boobs, irritable. Basically exactly what I feel before AF is due. Tuesday is 14dpo so I'd be due on then as I generally have 28 day cycles, but goodness knows what the last 2 months of drugs will do.

@Pleaseletitbeme Glad you're feeling fine now :)

@Hopingforbabyd Best of luck for transfer tomorrow. I did the mindful IVF app guided meditation before and after and found it really helpful, have you tried it?

OP posts:
Viletta · 04/08/2019 20:18

@AliceAbsolum I think the clinic gives expended test day to make sure that people don't test yearly, get bfn and stop the meds. They want to be 100% sure. I've just read a reassuring thread where 6dp5dt bfn turned into bfp at 8 or 9dpdt. I am annoyed how expensive beta hcg test is. Here prices are around £80.. I think I'd rather do a home test. If I do the bloods I'd then want to see a progression if it's a bfp

Pleaseletitbeme · 04/08/2019 21:01

I’m confused about testing too.
My OTD is 12pt. I had a 5 and a 6 day blasto transferred.
Last time I tested at 8ish days (was a faint positive that got stronger and stronger over the days).
My skin is terrible. I have acne worse than when I was a teenager-my chin and my nose- I’m like Rudolph.
My resting heart rate has gone up from 63 to 65....
so I’m hoping for good things.
Hope everyone is ok!

AliceAbsolum · 04/08/2019 21:02

@Viletta I know the cost is ridiculous. £110 here! But I cannot look at another stark white BFN. I just can't. Plus I think it will help me hold off testing.
I got sucked into threads about people expecting AF to arrive then getting a BFP. Which is reassuring.
