New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

@phreedam saying all my little prayers for you! We’ve just applied for access fertility. I don’t want to think you’ll be on this path...But if you ever need any info in the future on the programme I’ll update you on the process x

phreedam · 27/05/2019 21:23

I will keep that in mind @Hopingforbabyd , I remember you mentioned a few posts back that you guys have applied for it so I will definitely be asking you for advice if I'm out. I'm taking a leaf out of your book and staying strong! ThanksStarThanksStar

Hopingforbabyd · 27/05/2019 21:55

@phreedam definitely lovely, one step at a time and we can only go with each day as it comes. It’s comforting to know it’s not the end of the road when things might seem that way. Stay strong and know things WILL all work out in the end, no matter which way 💛💐 x

phreedam · 28/05/2019 15:02

It's not good news :( there's hardly vein any growth since yesterday so they will leave it one more day but the chances are even less now. Just preparing questions for the follow up appointment now and trying to figure out our options for the next cycle..
Never mind, hopefully next time.

LeanneMFord · 28/05/2019 18:13

@phreedam oh I'm so sorry. Hope you are ok and are looking after yourself. This is a a very hard gruelling process. X

phreedam · 28/05/2019 20:06

@LeanneMFord thank you sweets, today has been tough but I'm feeling good about carrying on. Mum and bro took me out to Windsor for a wander and ice cream while hubby is at work. I feel much better for it :)

Pleaseletitbeme · 28/05/2019 22:40

Phree- so sorry to hear that you’ve not had the best news
Xxx

Hopingforbabyd · 28/05/2019 22:57

@phreedam so sorry to hear your news today lovely, I’m glad you had some quality time with your mum and bro it’s definitely times like these where’s so good to surround yourself with the ones who love you most. Sending my love x

Hopingforbabyd · 28/05/2019 22:57

*where it’s (appalling gramma there) 🙈

Pleaseletitbeme · 29/05/2019 18:56

Soooo..... I don’t feel very pregnant and haven't done any more tests (good beta hcg last week) but my Fitbit has gone mental over the last few weeks. I know they aren’t very accurate. But there certainly is a trend.
Have my viability scan on a Friday afternoon and feel quite nervous about it.

I'm just healing from this and preparing for the follow up appointment with our consultant next week. I may be starting my next cycle around the same time as you @Hopingforbabyd

Thanks for the support everyone I really appreciate it.

@Pleaseletitbeme that looks interesting lol! I'm sure it'll go well my lovely- wish you all the best for Friday xxx exciting times !

Hopingforbabyd · 29/05/2019 20:42

@phreedam bless you sweetie, it’s such a difficult process. We will get there though ❤️ I have my follow up appointment too next week on Thursday and whilst it’ll be a hard one to attend, I look forward to going so we can start again. I heard back from access fertility today and they have come back with an offer of -
3 cycles with 70% refund
3 cycles with 50% refund
2 cycles with 50% refund

We’re going to speak to the clinic before we apply but I think we’re going to go with the 3 at 70%. They have been brilliant getting back to us so quickly and they have given us the offer based on our medical findings at the clinic so I’m hoping it means it could be promising that’s why they didn’t give us the 2 years unlimited 🤔 x

Hopingforbabyd · 29/05/2019 20:43

@pleaseletitbeme these are understandably worrying times but I’m certain everything will be okay. Good luck for Friday x

phreedam · 29/05/2019 20:55

@Hopingforbabyd our appointment is on Thursday too :)
That sounds like a good deal. It's great to keep going, I don't want to wait too much and get bogged down with the negative feelings.
I'm a little concerned that my AMH levels will mean so won't fit into their categories.. so do I just go onto their website and make an application or do you think I should I talk to my consultant at the appointment first?

Hopingforbabyd · 29/05/2019 22:02

@phreedam Thursday will hopefully be both our lucky day with a nice little plan in place 😘 id done a bit of research beforehand but when I told the clinic about failed cycle I asked if I could speak to access first and they said it’s absolutely fine to do so as long as you’re happy with it. What happens at the next appointment is the clinic will tell you about what they could change and would give you the option of paying them or going through access. We wanted to get the ball rolling so that when we go to the appointment we can know when we can next start and then we just pay access.
So, when you ring them you speak to someone and they tell you about the packages they do. They then ask for yours and hubbys details, you’ll both be sent an email and a link to gain access to a portal. Tell them the package you’d like and what they do after you’ve signed the electronic forms (all data privacy stuff) they then contact your chosen clinic to access your medical records and previous treatment. They then come back to you with a package offer and soon as you’re happy with it you contact them to arrange payment. We said we’re going to wait until Thursday and then contact them and pay just to be on the safe side. They’ve accepted us so it’s just a matter of us paying and the clinic giving the go ahead to start which they said will be next period then 21 days after I’ll start norethisterone again unless protocol changes. The only thing with access is it doesn’t include payment for meds I’ll put the link up here for you x

Hopingforbabyd · 29/05/2019 22:08

Always find it very fascinating that the ball rolls quicker when you pay sadly 🙄

phreedam · 29/05/2019 23:04

@Hopingforbabyd thank you so so much for taking the time to write up all the steps it sounds much simpler now! I will get on it tomorrow and hopefully after discussing with hubby on Friday we will decide on something. Ah so you were on the long protocol I take it?
Make sure you shop around for meds.. Asda/Sainsbury's and obviously your clinic (some clinics are still fairly priced)
We've got a few left over from this cycle so hopefully that'll be a few hundred £'s saved Hmm

Hopingforbabyd · 29/05/2019 23:14

@phreedam you’re very welcome 😊 it’s all so daunting isn’t it I sometimes panic a little about the costs but I just keep telling myself it’ll all be worth it. I stupidly got so angry and threw some meds away! They were only the water parts to the stims that were left open. I had a bout of rage 😄 I will definitely look into meds at those places, thank you for the heads up! I was short protocol last time, the norethisterone is to time my period it encourages it to come a couple days after stopping, I think I was only on them 5 days but my god it was the period from hell...personally I don’t think she needs timing as she’s very on cue 😄 but I am happy to go with whatever flow they suggest x

WorriedButterfly · 30/05/2019 08:42

Hi @Hopingforbabyd And @phreedam

Sorry to jump in - I did Access for 2 round package (discounted price). They were great.

Just thought I'd say We put £200 on credit card which then covers you for the full amount should they go bust or something. It is so much money to part with. They won't let you put it all in CC but we checked with tesco bank and just doing a part payment does still cover you for the full amount - if that makes any sense!

I hope you're both hanging in there, I may see you on future rounds as everything went wrong for me at 9 wks so back to the drawing board. X

Hopingforbabyd · 30/05/2019 11:21

@worriedbutterfly thank you lovely that’s really useful to know about the credit card, I will do the same if I’m able to. So sorry to hear all didn’t go to plan bless you, I remember you from the previous board. Sending you lots of love x

phreedam · 30/05/2019 12:51

@WorriedButterfly I'm so sorry things didn't work out as you hoped but we really are built with valerian steel (game of thrones reference for anyone who is a fan)! We are all going to march on together.
Thanks for the tips ladies I just called access and registered with them, also asked them about putting a small amount on a credit card like you mentioned and they seemed fine with it. Let's see what they come back with.
@Hopingforbabyd roll on next Thursday! It will be a step towards getting things going again

phreedam · 30/05/2019 12:52

Also I'm not looking forward to my period coming now, I've heard it's horrible after coming off progesterone!!

Hopingforbabyd · 30/05/2019 13:26

@phreedam can’t wait! Hope the link helped 🥰 personally for me it wasn’t too bad just extremely heavy. I suffer badly with endo and tbh it was a breeze 😄 lots of migraines after tho but I think that’s just my body getting back to normal and I’ve spotted a bit since af but think that’s the usual after all those meds x

phreedam · 31/05/2019 09:52

@Hopingforbabyd let's hope it's tolerable!! Yes the link was helpful and Access were great over the phone as well they talked me through the options

@Pleaseletitbeme all the best for today sweetpea!!
