New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

Thanks ladies. I’m feeling hopeful. Come on embies!

phreedam · 06/05/2019 14:09

@Hopingforbabyd just read your EC story, I'm a little nervous for mine even though I just started injecting but it'll be here soon hopefully. Thanks for putting that up, just reassured me that it'll be fine Thanks all the best with your embies, that's a great number!! How exciting!

Wesstywoo · 06/05/2019 14:33

Bad news from me - took another test today and it's turned negative (5 days after OTD) so I've had a chemical. Just had a feeling. Will ask for a blood test to confirm so I can stop meds. Best of luck with your cycles ladies xxx

DaisyMay25 · 06/05/2019 14:39

So sorry @Wesstywoo

WorriedButterfly · 06/05/2019 15:03

Sorry to hear that @Wesstywoo. x

AliceAbsolum · 06/05/2019 15:14

@Wesstywoo Oh I'm so sorry. That's awful news. Take time to feel what you feel. Hope you have people about to support you x

@phreedam Glad you have started. Keep us posted!

@WesstyWoo I’m so sorry-how horrible for you. It’s all such a struggle.

@Hopingforbabyd I think you should be very pleased with your embryo news -brilliant that they say the majority are great quality.

Hopingforbabyd · 06/05/2019 15:42

@phreedam fantastic! So glad you’re now on your cycle. It soon whizzes by, when’s your first scan? Aw you’re welcome, I was an absolute nervous wreck when I went in...so nervous that the stirrups were all over the place with my shaky legs 😂 the nurse gave me something to calm me down and it helped. I told hubby about my experience yesterday and he had to remind me of already told him 3 times 😄 the mind is so powerful, it’s the unknown but if I had to do it again I would as we were in and out by 10am (my fear was feeling like I did coming round from a general and that feeling of being in hospital- bit like popping to the dentist 😉) x

Hopingforbabyd · 06/05/2019 15:43

@wesstywoo I am so sorry to hear this, sending you lots of love & support ❤️💐

Hopingforbabyd · 06/05/2019 15:44

Thank you @mouse1234567 just hoping they stay strong for a couple more days. How are you doing? X

phreedam · 06/05/2019 16:02

@AliceAbsolum thanks I'll keep you guys posted! 2nd lot of injections tonight but I'm not worried- the first was a hurdle because we were watching the instructions vids and trying to get it all perfect. Blimmin air bubbles!!
I'm on 100mg clomid as well so it's quite and aggressive protocol (I've got low AMH).

@Hopingforbabyd my first scan is on Friday morning :) fingers crossed my body will be reacting to the meds positively xx I'm glad I've finally started too, I was 3 weeks late and it felt like the longest cycle ever , I just wanted to start Sad

Hopingforbabyd · 06/05/2019 16:18

@phreedam bless you it’s a right pain isn’t it. I’ll be thinking of you for Friday. What meds are you on? X

phreedam · 06/05/2019 21:45

@Hopingforbabyd I'm on
150 gonal F
225 menopur
And 100mg clomid every night.

Then starting on day 6 I'll be injecting all of the above and Fyremadel every morning to hold back ovulation. It's a pretty aggressive protocol- hoping I pull through ok...

Sorka · 06/05/2019 22:17

@hopingforbabyd those are brilliant numbers! You must be so pleased.

ET was trickier than I thought as the nurse found it a bit tricky to get everything in the right place. I was feeling tense anyway, and wasn’t prepared for it as I was expecting it to be quick and simple. I think it normally is but I was unlucky.

I have ended up with 4 embies to freeze. I can’t believe how many I have given my AMH level and polycystic ovaries.

I’m finally feeling more like myself. I have been able to walk about as usual feeling normal this weekend.

@wesstywoo I’m so sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to you.

@phreedam I’m glad you’ve finally started. How long are you due to be on meds for before EC?

Hopingforbabyd · 07/05/2019 08:40

Morning ladies 😊
Just wondering if anyone experienced anything similar. From stims my boobs got incredibly sore I’ve never felt anything like it, they peaked at trigger and now they’re still tender but nothing like before. Just wondering if this is normal? I don’t want any meds to be running out if that’s even possible? 🙈

Twiglet2353 · 07/05/2019 11:15

Well it's been an eventful 15 hours. Started bleeding last night, got heavier this morning. Cue A&E and gynae ward attendance. Scan shows a haematoma but thankfully a happy baby on board for now. Gynae doctors shocked that the ivf unit stopped my progesterone so early and have prescribed me some more pessaries to take up to 12 weeks. Just hoping everything stops Sad, so scary

DaisyMay25 · 07/05/2019 11:21

@Twiglet2353 glad everything is okay but how scary! I don't think mine stop them until 12 weeks

AliceAbsolum · 07/05/2019 11:34

@Twiglet2353 I've been wondering about why you stopped so early :( my clinic say 2 everyday til 12 weeks, 27 for twins. So sorry you have such a scary time. What's a hematoma? When do you get scanned again?

AliceAbsolum · 07/05/2019 11:37

I rang the clinic to ask about testing as I've got meetings on Wed and Thursday next week. I can't POAS see a negative result then go to work. They said collect urine Tuesday morning then do it Tuesday afternoon. Double check with a clear blue non digital on Wednesday morning. So a week to go. Started getting cramps this morning :(

Does anyone know how long it takes for 15,000 hcg to come out of your system?

Hopingforbabyd · 07/05/2019 11:56

@twiglet2353 thank goodness both you and baby are okay. I too was a little concerned that they stopped your pessaries so early on. Glad the gynae got you sorted. Hope you’re resting up today x

phreedam · 07/05/2019 14:13

@aliceabsolum wish you the best hun! its all quite nerve wracking I can't imagine!

@hoping for babyd have you had your transfer yet?

@sorka thanks sweets, I'm not sure on it's day 3 of injections today, I think its about 10 days assuming its going to plan...

Been reading through this thread and it's wonderful how we all support it other- well done ladies!!

phreedam · 07/05/2019 14:16

@hopingforbabyd LOL at the stirrups going everywhere, that is SO going to be me hahaha.

Having a tough time with menopur :( does anyone have any tips on how to make it less painful (it burns!)

WorriedButterfly · 07/05/2019 15:08

@phreedam I found the same, I found just taking it really slowly helped - like 2 or 3 mins slow, it's horrible carrying on when it stings. I just did it in tiny amounts at a time (keeping the needle in) also make sure you're at 90 degrees and your arm can sustain a few mins in that position if you do go slowly, as soon as the needle wasn't straight it hurt as well, I used a cushion to support. Not very scientific but it helped me. X

Hopingforbabyd · 07/05/2019 15:13

@phreedam haha they were everywhere 🙈 I felt like Ross on friends when he is in the stirrups and can’t get out 😂
Transfer is tomorrow. So nervous but excited at the same time. I just hope they’re doing okay we won’t know until we go in. They told us they’d put two in but it may just be the one as they are all top grade apart from 1 I’m happy with that though, hopefully we can freeze them if possible. I’m a bit worried my endo will be the barrier after all the smooth sailing 😞
I found sometimes my stims would sting if I pressed the plunger too fast/hard. In the end I did them so slowly I could’ve got to the shops bought a loaf of bread and come back by the time I’d finished 😄 I wasn’t on menopur but I’ve heard it can be a little sod x

phreedam · 07/05/2019 15:33

@worriedbutterfly @hopingforbabyd
Thanks for the advice guys, I will try and do it more slowly and maybe support my arm to make it steadier...I've been trying to do it as quickly as possible to get out of the way but maybe that's not the best way haah!
Also, I find that when trying to get the air bubbles out I push the plunger up a little to get a drop of the menopur out and I think this is what burns my skin more when initially making contact with my tummy. Don't know any other way to make sure there's no air in the syringe. Spoke with a nurse at our clinic today and she said its expected so unfortunately just need to deal with it :|

All the best for the transfer tmrw @hopingforbabyd wear some warm socks and big smile :) it's your big day!!
