New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

Wesstywoo · 02/05/2019 04:49

@Pleaseletitbeme when I rang the clinic yesterday to tell them about my BFP they told me it's normal for me to be experiencing period type cramps at this stage. Fingers crossed for you.

Well done @Hopingforbabyd - enjoy your injection free day!

AliceAbsolum · 02/05/2019 16:30

Out of curiosity I just POAS, so weird to see a 2nd line! Strange that the one cycle I know 100% I'm not pregnant I see a positive test. Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll see another one!
Keep thinking about the tiny embryos, willing them on. Keep telling myself none may make it. Managing expectations.

But my body is feeling me period is coming....
So stuff it I’m going to ride my horse.

Hopingforbabyd · 02/05/2019 17:14

@aliceabsolum I was curious too to POAS but I darent lol. Getting really nervous for EC tomorrow I’ve not had a very good day with my anxiety 😞

AliceAbsolum · 02/05/2019 17:26

@Hopingforbabyd Understandable to be nervous. You'll cope with whatever happens, you're clearly very capable ☺️

@aliceabsolum thank you 😘 I’m really nervous about the sedation and being in pain during the procedure. Does it last long? X

AliceAbsolum · 02/05/2019 18:12

No idea I was totally unconscious! How long did they say it would take? Are you having conscious sedation?

Pleaseletitbeme · 02/05/2019 18:42

Guys, honestly EC will be fine xxx
Mine last week was not unpleasant. Had midazolam and Alfentanil. Beautiful drugs Hahahaha.
Had no pain afterwards either.
Good luck! Xxx

Hopingforbabyd · 02/05/2019 18:54

@pleaseletitbeme thank you 😘 I think because the last couple of times I’ve had to have a procedure it’s been for my endo and tube removal I’m just feeling a whole rush of emotions. I think I’m comparing it to those times but I need to remember it’s for our babies to be made and that it’s not a bad thing.
@aliceabsolum it’s just says sedation on my sheet and that it can take around 30 minutes.
@twiglet2353 how was it at the clinic for you?

DaisyMay25 · 02/05/2019 19:16

@Hopingforbabyd I had anxiety before mine too. It's the unknown isn't it?
I was awake for mine but not really with it I was just having a nice chat, I think it takes about 15-20 minutes, mine took about 30 just because of the amount of follicles. I had zero pain after just bleeding for the next couple of days (but not a lot)
I cried at the end though because purely from all the hormones haha

Hopingforbabyd · 02/05/2019 19:25

@daisymay25 thank you lovely, I think it’s the initial waiting isn’t it. I think when I’m there all will be okay. It’s all becoming a bit real. I hope they get some eggs. Hubby is home and he too is very nervous bless him x

Russkispy · 02/05/2019 20:30

It's been a hell of a day! 12 hours later I'm finally home! Went to EPu at 8, 6 hours later they told me I might not even have the procedure done today as theaters/surgeons are busy! By then I haven't had a drink or food since yesterday 4-6pm as I was puking all evening! I screamed at them! I just couldn't go home after all these hours and mental and physical exhaustion! Finally at 4pm they took me to theatre! And finally discharge me at 8pm! I'm so exhausted and frustrated and in bits about the whole situation, words just failing me. But it's done now. Time to move on. And have my ducks in a row about the next plan of action. Have already some thoughts which need to process/digest and then act once ready. But this is not over yet! Thank you for all your lovely messages! Means a lot! 🤗🤗

@Hopingforbabyd good luck for tomorrow. I also was very nervous before EC but it was nothing like as stressful as my laparoscopy -I had a fair few eggs and it was all done in twenty mins. You literally remember nothing if you have heavy sedation-I just woke up feeling quite high (quite a fun feeling!) and sleepy. You walk in yourself -it’s so much less formal than proper surgery. Having had the sedation it’s really calmed me down for my general anaesthetic hysteroscopy when I finally have it. You have got this -all your tube stuff was much more serious surgery and you got through that-this will be easy in comparison. All the best.

@AliceAbsolum I tested after my hcg trigger for IUI -it was so strange seeing the second line come up really quickly and so strongly-finger crosses you will see it again soon!

mouse1234567 · 02/05/2019 21:16

@Russkispy I’m so sorry to hear your news. I’m also so sorry the hospital did not deal with it all better -you poor thing. What a terrible day and to have to wait that long is awful. I’m glad you are now home. Look after yourself.

Hopingforbabyd · 02/05/2019 21:50

@mouse1234567 thank you 😘 it’s very reassuring to hear it’s probably not as bad as I’m anticipating. I’ll update you tomorrow when it’s all done 💪🏼

@russkispy bless you, I am so sorry to hear of your awful experience today. This journey is very painful at times, I hope you will be okay. Sending you so much love and support x

WorriedButterfly · 02/05/2019 23:29

Good luck @Hopingforbabyd - it will be fine. Just remember to breathe and remember you've got this! X

findingmyfeet12 · 03/05/2019 00:30

I don't know if anyone is awake but I'm really stressed about a hospital appointment tomorrow.

I'll find out if they were able to identify any immune issues to explain my 3 mc after years of IVF.

If they can't find anything I'm back to square one.

AliceAbsolum · 03/05/2019 07:41

@findingmyfeet12 I really hope they find something fixable. Whose going with you? Good luck x

@Hopingforbabyd Not long til it is all over. Let us know xx

Thanks Alice

Dh is going with me. It's not until this evening so he'll just come home from work a bit earlier. He's quite excited but I'm more nervous.

Hopingforbabyd · 03/05/2019 10:40

Hey ladies!! I did it! Just on my way home from EC. For anyone new to IVF and wanting to know what the sedation is like it really isn’t as bad as I anticipated and I am grateful for all of you ladies advise on this too and keeping me sane 😘 so I thought I’d share my story... we arrived at 815 and were quickly taken to the recovery room, hubby went to do his thing and came back shortly after 😄🙈 I had a cannula in my arm which was a little uncomfortable but no bother. They took me to theatre and the room was very cosy. I was so nervous and the embryologist, nurses and my consultant was fabulous. They gave me some Valium to calm me down as I was shaking from nerves - For me personally I don’t like the sensation being calmed down, it makes everything for me heavy and dizzy but it does do the trick and I’m always grateful for it in the end. They made me a little hot water bottle to hold as my hands were too cold for the heart reader. They made it out of a rubber glove and the whole time I thought I was holding the nurses hand 😂 I was awake for it all but it felt like I was bobbin off like you do on the sofa on a night time and time passed quickly. I remember them scanning me and then a deep pinching pain, I know one point it really hurt but again I cannot remember that sensation. Sedation really is wonderful 😉 I did nod off at one point but the lovely nurse woke me up again, to which I told her I’d had a dream of cats eating loads of bread 😂🙈. Slight pains from them inserting the needle but my consultant was right, it makes you forget everything during and after. I have no pain only a little when I peed and a tiny bit of blood but so far all is well.
I’m very pleased to share we had 13 follicles and they collected 11 eggs! I’m so proud of my body particularly the left ovary as she did all the work.
We’re off to get my little fur baby now and some chicken nuggets from McDonald’s 😄 then it’s a day of relaxation.
I hope this story helps others as I really was a bag of nerves today. Thank you ladies for supporting me yesterday x

DaisyMay25 · 03/05/2019 10:57

@Hopingforbabyd so happy for you!! Enjoy your mcdonalds! I just slept all day after mine haha

Hopingforbabyd · 03/05/2019 11:01

@daisymay25 haha I am dying for a nap now nearly nodding off in my nugs 😄 I’m hoping 11 is a good number and they’re gonna get some little embies from them. They’re calling us again on Monday with first update x

findingmyfeet12 · 03/05/2019 11:20

That's a great result Hoping.

I've had a few ECs and you do feel exhausted afterwards from all the stress and the sleepless night the day before. I slept for hours afterwards.
