Hello to the ladies reading this.

My husband and I had a successful pregnancy with a fresh cycle of IVF in 2017 and so we have a 13 month old son.

We had a frozen embryo transfer last month. Because we had success the first time round we kind of expected the FET to work. So getting a bfn last week was soul destroying.

Due to husband's preferences and clinic availability we won't be starting a second round of IVF until mid June 2019 (which means egg collection mid July). This means I have to wait until end of July for the first sign it's been successful or not.

Feeling sad and anxious. I'm turning 38 in July so not sure if any chance of having a second child if this next cycle doesn't work. I'm so desperate for our son to have a sibling and I've always wanted to have two children.

I wonder if anyone in a similar situation? It can be a very lonely time getting through each day during this long wait.

Thanks for your replies x

Welcome Bailey2017 :-) Sounds similar to me (I had a 3BB transferred the same day cause I'm testing Thursday even though I was told to test Friday - one day shouldn't matter my doc said). Yes progesterone gives all those symptoms so I have the same cramp type sensation. Good luck Thursday morning!

Great news hgdg2018 good luck for tomorrow (and same to Clueless21!)

Yes might be all progesterone as per my doc. I am having sour taste from few days, twinge. Yesterday back pain(which is also normal to AF) but did some DIY work as well so could be from all the standing.
Today I am feverish. I should be 8dpo as per by doc and bit to early to test! :)

keeping fingers crossed for all of us

Hi gals! @IceCreamSummer yep I managed to stay up but I'm pretty dopey today - brain has not kicked in to gear at all and I have so much to do as tomorrow (I'm assuming) I'll be flat on my back most of the afternoon? As you will be able to tell from my trigger time I am not due in hospital until lunchtime - which is handy - but I'll be nil by mouth all morning, so I expect to be in a FOUL mood and am therefore not scheduling any meetings. Really I should be getting on with some work now but it more fun (and easier on my brain) to email my IVF gang :)

@hgdg2018 that is ace news! i can't remember whether you said you were going to have multiple embryos transferred? (I don't want to scroll up in case I lose my message!)

Hey @Bailey2017 - do you know what it is in pineapple that is supposed to be helpful? My feet are always boiling hot in this weather so I have that bit sorted. A friend of mine was told to eat a spoon of tomato puree and a pickled beetroot every day and another one had a boiled egg with every meal and both of them got preg with IVF - but they will never know if it was the weird diet that helped or not. I've just been carrying on pretty much as normal with less booze and more water. I'm happy to eat pineapple though! Not so much the tomato paste beetroot or egg :) Probably a bit late anyway.

I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow x

@Clueless21 I wasn't on my back for most of the afternoon after mine, i was able to move and get up and eat so i think i was lucky to not feel sick afterwards but everyone is different! I am still having period type pains every now and again but apparently that's normal and i'm so bloated i look pregnant today.... brilliant! The irony isn't lost on me..

They said we can have up to transferred but she said on Thursday that if any get to Grade A then they would only transfer one! We are not sure whether to transfer both (if they are not Grade A) or have one put in and have one frozen? As if it doesn't work at least we have another one and then we wont have to go through all of this again but more chance with 2 in?? We definately don't know what to do!!

I love pineapple so i will defo get on that as of tonight!!! Pineapple is good for your stomach anyway, if i eat that when i have period pains it does help my stomach and doesn't make them hurt as bad!

They said we can have up to 2 transferred* (because we are under 35)

Hi @IceCreamSummer my test day is this Friday but I'm testing Thursday instead. We said if I'm pregnant we will go out and celebrate, but then I said what if I'm not pregnant think I could hack going out knowing we would have been celebrating Sad it's so hard.

Had a call this morning and the final 2 we had have not cultured on enough to be able to transfer today so there's nothing they can do. 😔

Oh god @hgdg2018 that’s really sh*t. Do they have any idea why they didn’t make it? Not that it will help. Has been a hell of a few days for you. I’m so sorry.

hgdg2018 - so sad for you :-( You worked really hard for this. Please don't give up. Just like the couple in that documentary - give it one more shot! Good luck at your follow-up consultation. When I had a failed transfer, I booked a consultation 3 weeks later (earliest the consultant could see us) to arrange further treatment (this IVF cycle). At least once you have a date in the calendar you can put this trial to bed and focus hope on the next go. It doesn't mean it sucks any less though Sad

How are you doing this morning hgdg?

Report

yes @hgdg2018 I hope you are OK. take your time. thinking of you lots.

@icecreamsummer have I got this right - you are doing this all on your own???

had my extraction yesterday, they got 14 out which they seemed chuffed with. all went fine, no pain really and i was able to come home pretty much straight after. felt a bit sick but i think that was just dehydration. just as well as my partner was totally useless, had deleted uber off his phone for some stupid reason so had to stand outside Guys in the roadworks and the rain whilst he downloaded it again which took so long i ended up giving up and getting the train. then when we got in i went to lie down and he laid down next to me and promptly fell asleep all afternoon snoring his head off, so i ended up back downstairs working! so much for being looked after! feel totally fine today though, WFH this AM waiting for the embryologist to call and say how many made it over night. as we've seen though anything can happen so i am just getting on with work and trying not to think about it. looking at transfer day of either friday or sunday..... if i have any left to go back in x

Morning clueless 14 eggs is really great! Hope you have good news from the embryologist this morning. As you said, anything can happen, but with good numbers like this hopefully you'll get at least one to be transferred back. You're tale of getting home afterwards made me smile, but I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time.

Yep, I'm on my own. Have a good friend who know's what I'm doing but other than that I haven't told anyone else in case it all goes wrong. I don't want to deal with other people's thoughts and emotions on top of my own, so thought it best to keep it to myself for now.

I've tested this morning (7dp5dt) and nothing. Not even the faintest of lines (no matter which way up I turned it and tilted it Smile), so I think this probably hasn't worked for me. I know it's early to test, but I think I should have seen something today judging by other people's experiences.

Hi all.

That's a great result Clueless21. We look forward to hearing how many fertilised today. Funny/stressful story about your egg collection day! Good luck for later.

IceCreamSummer - I hope you don't give up hope. Remember this is why you're not supposed to test too early. The waiting is killing me but I'm gonna get to 10dp5dt which is tomorrow first thing. Even though it's one day early my doc said it was cool. Last time (frozen transfer) when I checked early it wasn't a morning wee and it was with a cheap test (not sensitive like first response). So tomorrow I'm using first response first morning wee. I'm dreading it because I know already how much it hurts to see a one liner :-( Good luck getting to testing day without driving yourself crazy!

so we had 9 fertilise over night meaning we've got a drop out rate of 40% - they have already made me an appointment to go back in on Sunday for transfer so lets hope a couple of the little blighters we've got remaining can hang on til then

good luck tomorrow @ChatWithMe! When are you supposed to test @icecreamsummer? MASSIVE kudos for going it alone btw x

(what does 10dp5dt mean?)

Report
IceCreamSummer · 31/07/2019 15:14

That's great chat. Fingers crossed they hold on.

I'm not supposed to test until Sunday. 10dp5dt means 10 days post a 5 day transfer. So 10 days after a 5 day blastocyst was transferred.

Hi all. It's been fun riding the 'hope train' with you guys but it's my stop. I'm not pregnant I'm afraid. I even got my period so hardly needed first response to break the news to me this morning! I still want to find out if you guys get preggies :-) Best of luck! Btw, I'll be booking the frostie transfer in asap...

Oh mate I’m sorry! But thanks for letting us know. You are so brave! Picking yourself up and dusting yourself off. And so sweet to want to stay in touch. Please do as your knowledge and support have (selfishly) been really helpful to me. When can you go again with the frozen embryos?

So sorry chat. This train is a devil to ride, full of hope and false promises but all too ready to throw you off at any time. I think I may be joining you and hgdg back on the platform shortly as I've tested again this morning at 8dp and still not even a faint one. I won't test again now until my official day on Sunday, but I'd be very surprised if it changes.

It's great that you have a frostie though, and I hope you'll keep in touch on here ('tis your thread after all!) with progress.

Still on for navya and Bailey this week I think?

Hi all sorry for not replying sooner. We've taken the rest of the week off work to do nothing and figure out where we go next. We have a follow up tomorrow with the embryologist so maybe they can tell us what happened and also if they'd do anything differently for next time?

So sorry to hear @ChatWithMe xx

Thank you hgdg2018 Clueless21 and IceCreamSummer. Your support has been super helpful. Btw, I think a big reason why I feel ok emotionally today is having watched that documentary I mentioned called One More Shot (and the other films too). Also, what I did last night was write myself a letter to read today if I got a negative result. My own words of encouragement actually helped even if a bit cheesy! Maybe you guys might want to try this some time? Oh and as for the frozen embryo transfer I guess it would be September at the earliest. Not sure. I think I might not continue with the group once I find out your guys' results. I might be more introspective with the next go if that makes sense? x

We went for our follow up consultation today. No reason why they didn't make it to day 5? 🙄 I don't know if that's more annoying that it's 'just one of those things' as there's still nothing wrong with me or husband? Everything was as it should be. It's so frustrating!!

We can start again after my next full cycle. So September we will be starting long protocol again and down regging.

They said they'd also up my stim meds and change me from Gonal F to Menopur. That was the only change they'd make from the last cycle.

Just wanted to share my update. So still feeling pretty shitty but onwards and upwards!
