IVF March/April

Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@Thund4rcat @Hopingforbabyd my clinic said not to wipe the skin because I was injecting the stomach and it doesn't go into muscle?

Hopingforbabyd · 12/04/2019 21:14

Thank you @daisymay25 that’s interesting to know but also makes sense, I think the wipe for me is like a comfort as that’s what they do at the doctors 😂

Mines opposite sides of my tummy fat. No wipes. I'm in the highest dose of menopur for about 9 days and then it's another one added to it... Can't remember what now. LH? Dunno. My appointment to learn all this was so long ago I've forgotten it all!

2019isouryear · 12/04/2019 21:24

@Hopingforababyd I’m on 300 2x 150IU powder to one solvent. Yeah start fyremadel on day 6.

Hopingforbabyd · 12/04/2019 22:54

@2019isouryear I’m so intrigued as to how they tailor the meds down to us individually. Wishing you lots of luck! Were you told leg and then tummy for fyremadel? I’m glad we’re on same meds least we can help each other through it 😊 x

I’ve had my down reg scan now. My lining is thin enough and I have lots of follicles on one ovary. I still have a cyst covering the other, so I’m having it aspirated next week. Has anyone else had that done?

Hopingforbabyd · 12/04/2019 23:42

Hi @sorka sounds promising! May I ask, are your cysts from endo? I have two on my left below 2cm and 1 on my right below 2cm. My consultant said he is going to leave them, what does aspirated mean and can the cysts cause any harm if you don’t have that done? X

@Hopingforababy definitely good to have the support of each other. I didn’t have a clue about my dose whether it was the norm. Cud be a bit higher cos of my age (41). I feel like I should know more but mostly I feel clueless and just go with what the clinic recommends so good to talk to others who are going through this as well. The nurse never said to inject anywhere other than my thigh, but makes sense to give them a break. Good luck with finishing tomorrow, and starting next week Smile I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow doing it myself for the first time 😬

Sorka · 13/04/2019 00:24

@hopingforbabyd I’m feeling positive. My hormone results are poor, so I’m thinking of this as my one and only shot. I’m on the maximum dose of everything.

I’m not sure what’s caused it. I have suspected adenomyosis which can cause cysts. This is a simple cyst, and I’m not sure whether adenomyosis causes simple cysts or just endometriomas. I’ve had a dull pressure where my right ovary is for years, so I think it’s been there a long time. I had some tests done a few years ago which also found signs of polycystic ovaries, so could be that.

I was expecting a consultant to call so I could ask questions but they didn’t. I guess I’ll find out on Monday.

In my earlier scans I was told it’s normal to get cysts and they normally go on their own in a month or so. Mine hasn’t. It showed up on a scan in November and is unchanged.

Small cysts apparently don’t cause any bother, but cysts can affect your hormones if they’re big enough. Mine is 5cm and covers the whole ovary. I doubt the clinic would be able to collect any eggs with it in the way.

Sorka · 13/04/2019 00:30

@hopingforbabyd how is your treatment going?

mouse1234567 · 13/04/2019 12:43

@Hopingforbabyd i also wasn’t given swabs to clean the area you inject. Although they were in my cetrocide injection packets but I haven’t been using them for my stimms injections.

@Sorka good luck with your aspiration -hopefully that will make the process more successful.

Had another scan this morning -it’s great my clinic monitor very closely but I feel like I don’t get much break from blood tests and scans. Lots of follicles growing well apparently (I have PCO and asked if it was too many -but she said they are under control!) . She also said I must be feeling bloated with them all-which I certainly am starting to. Her recommendation if anyone has the same problem is lots of water and protein. No indication of EC date yet-hopefully I will know more at Monday’s scan.

Hope everyone is feeling ok this weekend-particularly those that did not get the results they wanted yesterday.

2019isouryear · 13/04/2019 18:36

First injection done which wasn’t to bad, did get DH to go through it with me. I have questioned have I done it right, but I know that there is no reason why I haven’t. Hopefully this self doubt will go away as I carry on.

2019isouryear · 13/04/2019 19:59

How soon after starting stims did others start to feel the effects?

mouse1234567 · 13/04/2019 20:58

@2019isouryear it’s hard to say when exactly I felt the stimms-in terms of bloat and heavy feeling in my stomach it’s obky been the last 2-3 days so it prob started on day 4 or 5 of stimms. I have felt very tired at times but not sure if that is the stimms of the cetrocide injection I have started taking to stop OV or the anti-biotics orjust the general stress of it all!

All in all I don’t feel too bad just fairly tired and heavy. Hope you feel ok and well done with your first injection!

2019isouryear · 13/04/2019 21:02

Thanks @mouse1234567 as this is our first cycle just don’t know what the expect. Prob need to stop thinking about things too much. Hope everything is going well for you.

mouse1234567 · 13/04/2019 21:09

@2019isouryear I totally understand -it’s our first one too. So many firsts on this journey! I got a call to up my stimms by another vial so I’m hoping EC will be mid to end of next week 🙏

DaisyMay25 · 14/04/2019 09:07

@2019isouryear I'd say about day four too, but it was about day 6/7 I started to feel really heavy and the bloating started

Hopingforbabyd · 14/04/2019 18:41

Hi ladies 😊 hope you’re all having a lovely Sunday. I just wanted to ask (vent!) I’m guessing me coming of norethisterone and becoming an evil witch is normal? My poor hubby I feel so sorry for him today. I’m a very calm person but my goodness today I feel like I want to just explode into a rage! I’ve asked him to keep out my way and that I don’t mean it 🙈 please tell me this is normal and not just in my head x

Brambles7 · 14/04/2019 19:42

Good luck to everyone just starting out on the drugs.
@mouse1234567 hoping the stimms get you to EC with some lovely quality eggs this week!
@DaisyMay25 fingers crossed for a good ET for you tomorrow!

Hopingforbabyd · 14/04/2019 20:09

@wesstywoo it’s nice to know I’m not going crackers 🙈 poor hubby I feel so bad for him but hopefully it’ll be over soon when af gets here.

Best of luck for ET tomorrow @daisymay25 x

OP posts:
AliceAbsolum · 14/04/2019 21:29

@Hopingforbabyd I said nearly the exact same thing to DH today. Mines PMT mind, so not as bad, but I'm always go grumpy the day before AF.
The hassle we go through the men should definitely take some of the slack!

I'm hoping AF will arrive tomorrow so I can call the clinic and get a baseline scan.

Hopingforbabyd · 14/04/2019 21:43

@aliceabsolum haha me too. This is like the worst PMS one minute I’m so nice and then I’m like a raging witch. I’ve really felt for hubby today he hasn’t even said anything sometimes and he’s felt my wrath. Hopefully af comes soon so my mind can calm down a little and finally get started. Good luck for when af comes lovely, I think we will be around the same days x
