Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@Chester6 Drink lots of water and Lucozade Sport to keep hydrated, and I had warm hot water bottles to help too x

Chester6 · 31/03/2019 20:21

Thank you x

Brambles7 · 31/03/2019 20:35

Hiya. Can I join in?

@Chester6 I had terrible bloating and tiredness the last couple of days. I think
Its par for the course.

My ET was on Friday, I had a couple of really good days and today I’ve had a huge meltdown and can’t keep anything much down for some reason. I keep worrying that this will be so detrimental to the embryos. My mum keeps telling me to just relax but it’s so hard!

Wesstywoo · 01/04/2019 07:42

Great news @Thund4rcat! All the best for your tww xx

WorriedButterfly · 01/04/2019 10:16

Morning ladies - I need some help! The embryologist has just called to say I have one outstanding quality embryo (day 3) and one good quality but some cells are slightly compromised- do I hold out for blasto or transfer today, I've no idea what to do, I thought they'd tell me what to do! I can't get hold if my husband either! X

Thund4rcat · 01/04/2019 10:35

@worriedButterfly that's weird they haven't given you a recommendation. I would go for it today if one is obviously the best. I have read that the only reason to wait until day 5 is to see which one is the best by then and pick the best one, and actually it can be better to put it inside you where it belongs at day 3 rather than wait until day 5.

Thund4rcat · 01/04/2019 10:46

@Brambles7 are you still on antibiotics from the EC? Those made me feel really sick constantly.

I know it's a nasty circle isn't it - worrying so much you get upset, and then worrying that the upset has made it worse! It's impossible to avoid the occasional meltdown in all of this I think. I doubt the people who it works for are entirely stress-free for the whole thing.

I don't know what helps you to relax but yesterday I went for an Indian head massage and foot massage and that was just so nice it really did make me feel better. Is there anything you can do to treat yourself?

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 10:58

@WorriedButterfly. I think sometimes if there’s one that heads up, it’s best to put it in rather than wait as they generally rather put something in that nothing. I had 2 put in on Friday because they had a couple doing well and there was a risk of none if it was left til today.

@Thund4rcat thank you. No I’m not still on any meds excepts pessaries. I called the clinic this morning & they suggested it could just be a virus. Lucky I’d booked today off work anyway! As you say, vicious circle of worrying feeling rubbish then worrying because you feel rubbish! My clinic said as long as I can keep down fluids they’re not concerned.
Am just feeling sorry for myself!
Lovely that you went for a massage to treat yourself. You deserve it!

Hopingforbabyd · 01/04/2019 12:04

@worriedbutterfly oh my goodness! I’d say go for it! Sounds like that one is ready to go! Did you manage to get hold of hubby?

Welcome @brambles7 hoping you are feeling a bit better? Wishing you all the best for your tww x

Thank you! I did manage to get hold of him and I also spoke to them again and they advised we hold out til Wednesday- it's so hard isn't it, knowing what to do.

Fingers crossed we get there! X

Thund4rcat · 01/04/2019 12:39

@WorriedButterfly ah, glad they gave you a recommendation in the end. They know best!

Thund4rcat · 01/04/2019 12:40

@Brambles7 poor you! Sounds horrible to be so poorly. Hopefully it will pass soon :(

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 13:25

@WorriedButterfly. Glad they gave you a recommendation in the end!
They do this everyday so here’s hoping for a lovely little blastocyst for you on Wednesday.

@Thund4rcat. Thank you. Have managed to have a little toast & banana (brat diet!) so hopefully I’ll be on the mend soon. I hate being poorly! Am not a good patient - I always want to be better like right now! Grin

Chester6 · 01/04/2019 13:52

Hi @Brambles7, hope you feel better soon.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for funny things to watch in the 2ww? I was told lots of laughter is good. Thanks x

WorriedButterfly · 01/04/2019 14:07

@Chester6 how is your bloating today chick? That is the thing I have been most surprised by throughout all of this. I was really bad before and after EC but it has subsided a bit since and just gets bad when I eat again.

I am wondering what to watch as well - so I am glad you asked! Hope you had a good phone call earlier x

Chester6 · 01/04/2019 14:15

Thanks @worriedbutterfly. It’s a bit better thanks. I took everyone’s advice and had a hot water bottle last night and a bath. I don’t remember having anywhere near as much bloating last time I had an egg collection though.
I am booked in for Embryo Transfer on Wednesday at 1:30pm. Eeek, am excited but a bit nervous too as I know i’ll be questioning everything I do once they are in. How are you? When is yours booked in for? Got my call earlier and I have 5 although 4 seem good quality at this stage. Fingers crossed they stay that way as I think it’s not until the day of ET that we’ll really know how good they are.
Are you planning to do anything in particular after ET? Are you taking time off work? xx

WorriedButterfly · 01/04/2019 14:35

I haven't really got as far as afterwards yet! Just so nervous to make it to Wednesday! I am having acupuncture before and I think afterwards as well, then I'd thought about watching funny stuff - I might try and get a funny book to read as well (recommendations welcome) I am trying to go outside as much as poss, keep my feet warm, and eat warming good food (sloppy things!). I plan to rest on Wednesday but back to work on Thursday- but I work from home do not too strenuous! x

Chester6 · 01/04/2019 14:53

Great plan, I will try to do similar. And I have everything crossed for you on Wednesday. The funniest book I have read recently is ‘this is going to hurt’. I was laughing out loud xx

DaisyMay25 · 01/04/2019 15:13

@WorriedButterfly glad they helped you make a decision in the end.

I'm on day four of stims and I'm a bit crampy, anyone else get this?

WorriedButterfly · 01/04/2019 15:22

@daisy yes I had cramps on and off from day 3 and I was nauseous. Good luck!

@Brambles7 I hope you feel better soon- you could try crystallised ginger to settle your stomach , it really helped me. X

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 15:23

@Chester6 and @WorriedButterfly the best of luck for Wednesday. I hope the staff are as lovely for you as they were for me, it really helped to relax me.

@DaisyMay25 I didn’t have cramps per se only a few little pains in the left ovary. Hope are able to keep drinking lots of water, every time I had any pains or felt rough I just drank more. My days were like drink, pee, drink, pee repeat!!

DaisyMay25 · 01/04/2019 16:29

@WorriedButterfly and @Brambles7 thank you! I've just bought a load of apple juice and water, I'm so bad and not drinking enough! Luckily no nausea though

Fingers crossed for people in the tww!
@Twiglet2353 how you doing?

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 17:00

@WorriedButterfly. Good idea, will try that! Am a little better this afternoon. So hopefully I’m on the up now.

@DaisyMay25 that’s good you have no nausea, I didn’t either during stims. I also found lucozade sport in small amounts helped because it’s designed specifically to rehydrate. I’m drinking some now!

mouse1234567 · 01/04/2019 18:53

@Brambles7 hope you are feeling better -poor you.

I have just taken my last norethisterone tablet so now the wait is on for my period. Had a terribly headache all day -did anyone have this with norethisterone?

Twiglet2353 · 01/04/2019 19:26

@worriedbutterfly Fantastic about your outstanding embryo. Wednesday will seem like forever away for you but it's so exciting!

@Brambles7 I'm now totally craving banana on toast :D. Glad you're starting to feel slightly better

@mouse1234567 I also got quite bad headaches during the norethisterone. Hope AF shows up soon for you

@DaisyMay25 I didn't get much cramping during stims, so much so I was totally shocked when at my first scan there were actual follicles there. Towards the end of stims though I started to feel quite delicate.

I'm doing okay thanks, had a bit of nausea and fatigue today but don't know if it's all in my head? Did another test yesterday which was darker, have demonstrated self control today (HA!) by not POAS, but tomorrow I've got another FRER lined up and the bad boy Clearblue digital haha!
