Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

That’s fantastic @worriedbutterfly and I’m glad they gave you some advice.
Did you find you bloated badly during stims? I’m quite conscious about bloating and it being noticeable especially at work as we wear fitted dresses (when I’ve had a sandwich you can practically see the outline of the sandwich through the dress!) I know bloating is unavoidable just wondering if you have any tips to hide it? When my endo used to flare people would comment and say “are you pregnant?!” which hurt and they’ll never know just how much!

May I also ask you ladies -how many scans did you have before EC? And after the baseline how many days did you wait till your first one to see how the meds are working? How regular were they? Thanks! Just trying to get an idea of what to expect!

Twiglet2353 · 01/04/2019 21:02

@mouse1234567 Short protocol I had a scan Day 8 and Day 10 of stims. Triggered Day 11 of stims which was cycle day 12, and had EC CD14 x

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 21:16

Hi @mouse1234567. I was on long protocol, had a scan on day 8,10 and 13. Triggered day 13 with EC on day 15. My follicles were a little slow to grow - the right ovary particularly was a bit lazy! I was quite surprised at how often they wanted to scan me but they were always super conscious of not letting me be overstimuated.

Brambles7 · 01/04/2019 21:20

@Twiglet2353 sorry you’re also feeling a bit nauseous but hopefully that’s a good thing! Hoping the test tomorrow gives you a really good dark line.

@Hopingforbabyd I really bloated badly during stimms as well. In fact I’m still a bit bloated even now tbh. I was lucky that I can wear loose fitting dresses because I was terribly self conscious.

Hopingforbabyd · 01/04/2019 21:32

Thanks for the heads up @brambles7 I’m going to see if I can maybe get a bigger uniform and grow into it 😄🙈 I do feel self conscious when I have an endometriosis flare but...I guess it’s all worth it 😊

@mouse1234567 I was on short protocol and I had BL scan, then a scan on day 8 of stims and triggered the same day - so I think it varies. I had a day 10 scan booked too but didn't need it.

@Hopingforbabyd I bloated on stims which got worse with trigger.

@Twiglet2353 still got everything crossed for you x

DaisyMay25 · 01/04/2019 22:49

@mouse1234567 I'm long protocol, had a scan before down reg, scan before stims then I've got scan at day 6 and day 8, not sure yet after that, maybe one more

Twiglet2353 · 02/04/2019 05:39

Bottom two are from this morning....
Tentatively excited now 🙂. Please still little one!

In other news, two years those Clearblue bad boys have been sat in my cupboard waiting to be used. Only now do I realise I didn't get the one with weeks on it! 🙈

Please stick* even

mouse1234567 · 02/04/2019 06:45

@Twiglet2353 congrats -those lines look great! I think you can get excited now! Congrats! I have just looked back over the conversation and am I right in thinking you were a bit concerned about the embryo grading-if so it’s provided us all with such hope that actually we don’t necessary need lots of high grade embryos. So happy for you it has stuck! I worry with my endo and PCO I won’t have lots of high grade embryos.

@Brambles7 @WorriedButterfly @DaisyMay25 thanks that’s really helpful. I imagined I would be in for scans bit sooner in cycle and more frequently but perhaps not-although they did tell me with my PCO they may have me in daily near the time of EC toavoid OHSS but we shall see!

@WorriedButterfly-your stimms was relatively short then-hopefully I’m like you!

I’m lucky-I can pretty much wear what I like within reason to work -but also suffer from endo bloat and just general bloat so often how baggy T-shirt’s! I work with kids and why would be all to quick to ask if you were pregnant!!

Just patiently waiting for my period now! Hope everyone had a good day. And congrats again*@Twiglet2353*

Twiglet2353 · 02/04/2019 07:02

@mouse1234567 Yes I'd almost written this cycle off as the embryo was a 3BC and google was preparing me for the worst. Not out the woods yet of course but just happy we've made it this far xx

Agog123 · 02/04/2019 07:28

@twiglet2353 congratulations! Allow yourself to enjoy this moment, you are pregnant! As nerve-wracking as the next milestones are x

Agog123 · 02/04/2019 07:30

@chester6 @worriesbutterfly I see you are both doing ET tomorrow? I am too, booked in for 13:30 also!!

Chester6 · 02/04/2019 08:01

@Agog123 Oh wow that’s brilliant. Welcome to the club. How are you feeling? Are you going to do anything different? I am still feeling really bloated and as if I’m permanently full.

And massive congratulations @Twiglet2353. You must be thrilled. As @Agog123 says, enjoy this moment. x

Wesstywoo · 02/04/2019 08:09

Congratulations @Twiglet2353 those lines look great! Fabulous news!

The grading really is just a guide. Things didn't work out with my top grade hatching blastocyst on my fresh round and when I asked why they said they can pick what appears to be the best embryo but each embryo is predestined to be a baby or not and in reality they just don't know which ones will and which ones won't. So don't be disheartened by the numbers, every embie is in with a chance! Xx

Hopingforbabyd · 02/04/2019 08:14

Congratulations @twiglet2353 those lines look great and what better way to see those words! Fab news to see this morning 😊 x

@Twiglet2353 fantastic news!!!

Brambles7 · 02/04/2019 09:21

@Twiglet2353 congrats that’s fab news!! Those lines look great! And so encouraging to know that you don’t necessarily have to have the Top quality grade for it to work.

Good luck today @Chester6 @WorriedButterfly and @Agog123. I hope all goes really well for you!

DaisyMay25 · 02/04/2019 09:40

Good luck with the ET tomorrow @WorriedButterfly @Chester6 and @Agog123 at least you're going through the tww together!

Brambles7 · 02/04/2019 09:54

Woops just realised today is Tuesday not Wednesday! Lots of luck tomorrow for ET.

sl85 · 02/04/2019 10:06

Excellent news @Twiglet2353 😊

Good luck to all of you going through ET today 🤞🏼

Wesstywoo · 02/04/2019 13:49

@mouse1234567 just seen your post about norethisterone - I've had to take it twice now and both times I've felt terrible on it! Side effects I had were feeling grumpy and migraine type headaches with sickness, I've actually found it to be the worst of the drugs I've had to take throughout this process! Hope you are feeling better xx

Chester6 · 02/04/2019 14:29

I’ll second that, I had those symptoms too, especially grumpiness (I put it down to the drugs delaying my period so having more hormones in me).

Sorry for too much info but I am feeling really constipated (possibly down to egg collection last Fri or the pessaries I am taking) and I don’t want it to affect my embryo transfer tomorrow or have to me straining too much (sorry again). Do you think it is safe to take a laxative tonight being the night before Embryo transfer tomorrow lunchtime? Thanks x

AnnaSteen · 02/04/2019 14:52

Hi @chester6. I am the same as you. Very constipaited. I rang my nurse and asked and she said it was fine to take Senokot. I had my egg collection on Friday and I only really got relief today (TMI) so maybe ring your nurse and see can they recommend a suitable laxative that won’t impact anything else!

Also supposed to be having ET tomorrow morning. I had a poor response to stims (even though it’s MFI it was my first round of IVF so hoping they’ll up my meds for next round). They collected 4 eggs and 3 fertilised. On Day 3 two were 4-cells and 1was 6-cells and they said they wanted to wait until Day 5. So we have to go in tomorrow and hope there’s something to put back in 😥
