BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

Okay, I'm panicking. Did another FRER this morning and the line is much fainter than it was two days ago. Is this over before it's even begun? I'm terrified.

First photo is Thursday, second is just now. I'm 12dp5dt today.

Line strength is not a reliable indicator as there are to many variables, such as urine concentration, dye contained within test and fluid in body. When was / is your OTD? A line is a line and you are pregnant until you have a major bleed or a scan shows otherwise. I'm not suggesting you start shouting it from the rooftops or blow your savings in Mothercare as there is a still a long way to go but stress and worry won't make that time pass any quicker and nothing you do or don't do at this stage will really make a great deal of difference to the outcome. Will you be any less devastated if you worry and stress than if you try relax and think about a successful pregnancy and the worse happens? Probably not!
Take a few deep breaths put your tests used and unused in the bin and try and distract yourself with going out for a nice Sunday lunch or something. I understand your anxieties but I think we're our own worst enemies sometimes Flowers

cannonball8726 · 16/09/2018 19:35

@redpandafluff I'm sorry about this period of uncertainty. Flowers I don't know much about pregnancy tests so not sure about the significance of these changes :( when is your OTD? Does your clinic measure beta hCG?

Beherenow32 · 17/09/2018 08:17

@RedPandaFluff sorry, I don’t have any advice? We just had a blood test. Could you phone your clinic. The first weeks in pregnancy are terrifying. Especially before the first scan xx

RedPandaFluff · 17/09/2018 08:59

We went abroad so won't be doing blood tests or anything; OTD IS tomorrow (Tuesday) which will be 14dp5dt.

Tests are still very faint positives - barely there - so in order to be able to function at work I'm stepping away from testing until Wednesday morning, as I'm working from home that day. I plan to do a digital and deal with the outcome.

I feel sick with dread and anxiety.

cannonball8726 · 17/09/2018 18:01

That sounds like a good idea @redpandafluff. wishing you the very best of luck. x

TheArtfulScreamer · 17/09/2018 18:39

Fingers crossed for you on Wed Panda. I was to scared to even think of my BFPs before OTD as BFPs so I think doing the digital on Wed and dealing with the outcome then is the best way forward for you.

cannonball8726 · 19/09/2018 10:50

How did it go @redpandafluff? Thinking of you.

RedPandaFluff · 19/09/2018 10:57

A resounding "Not Pregnant" on a digital this morning, after several super-faint FRERs over the last couple of days.

So it's over for me - but I wish you all so much luck and happiness for the next stages Thanks

TheArtfulScreamer · 19/09/2018 11:28

Sounds like you've had a chemical really sorry to hear this, we invest such time and emotion into the procedure for it to not come to fruition is heart breaking. Take a bit of time out for yourselves to allow your body and mind to recover Flowers

Beherenow32 · 19/09/2018 18:40

@RedPandaFluff I’m really sorry. That’s sad news 😞 xx

cannonball8726 · 20/09/2018 07:08

@redpandafluff I'm really sorry :( this process is so cruel. Flowers

Beherenow32 · 22/09/2018 09:43

Can’t believe I’m over 15 weeks now, and starting to cope better with daily life (still have times of feeling rough!). Does this still count as early pregnancy??

How is everyone else???

Thinking of @RedPandaFluff

X

Behere we are officially in our second trimester. I've told my mum this weekend and spilled the beans to a few close friends. My mum started crying she didn't know about the IVF and I'd had egg collection when she came to visit (and explained is as a small gynae op) and she'd seen my sharps bin so she was thinking might be IVF or some sort of female cancer so needless to say she's really pleased.

Beherenow32 · 22/09/2018 12:50

@TheArtfulScreamer aw, it must have been so nice to tell your mum. Hopefully we can start to enjoy pregnancy and relax a little. But I’m not there quite yet! Hopefully after next weeks scan.
Hope you’re keeping well. I’ve been quite lazy so far today. 😴 xx

Beherenow32 · 22/09/2018 15:21

Does anyone else feel their stomach and inside being pushed and stretched?? Still waiting for a proper bump, but I am looking a little wider!

🙈 xx

Itonlytakesone · 26/09/2018 21:44

@Beherenow32 your gender scan must be anytime soon?? any ideas what you are having. I think girl 💞for you as your symptoms have mirrored mine.

My stomach feels very stretched seeing more of a bump now. Sorry Iv been quiet my fiancé's mum passed away 😥we've been supporting the rest of the family & getting through it together. Having my pregnancy however lifts everyone's spirits. I'm 15 weeks tomorrow. Smile

Beherenow32 · 26/09/2018 23:08

@Itonlytakesone sorry for your sad news ❤️ Shame for it to happen now... but a new little baby is a lovely focus for everyone.
Yes, my gender scan is on Sunday! We think a girl (so, it’s prob going to be a boy then! Lol). A couple of people at work said they could see my bump showing... so there is something going on then.

Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 27/09/2018 11:36

Sorry to hear your news @itonlytakes my Dad passed away nearly 2 years ago and it was such a difficult time but I like to think he worked a little cosmic magic when it came to our IVF.
@Behere if you're having a girl I'll be even more convinced that mines a boy as that's what we said right from ET.
@bean how are you getting on are you still having weekly scans, you can't be far off 12 weeks now.

Itonlytakesone · 27/09/2018 18:46

@Beherenow32
Thanks. Aww Sunday that's exciting I'll be waiting to hear what you get told you must be so nervous to find out i was and i only had to wait until i was 12 weeks.

@TheArtfulScreamer
Aww your dad would have been so pleased that your ivf has worked he must have been looking down on you Smile I think boy for you too?!🤰🏼

We were grateful to share our pregnancy news, gender and baby name we have chosen before my fiancé's mum passed (she was terminally ill bless her) she was absolutely made up so that nipt test results early meant so much to us it's priceless. I'm so glad my ivf worked first time too, feeling grateful but tough emotional times ahead. (Especially with these pregnancy hormones!)

cannonball8726 · 27/09/2018 19:55

So sorry to hear about your mother in law, @itonlytakesone. I'm sure she was heartened to know about your bubba.

Has the sickness finished for you ladies? Hope you're all doing okay! How exciting to see some emerging bumps.

I'm 12 weeks today and had my scan this afternoon which was okay. They gave me the combined screening results too (couldn't believe their turnaround time was so fast for the bloods) and low risk for the three trisomies... relieved. Find out my Harmony results and sex of the baby on Saturday. And then not sure when we will tell people. What did you guys do? And have you all told work?

Good luck for your scan this weekend @beherenow32! Is anyone else having another scan before 20 weeks?

@beanhunter and @tigerlily99, hope you are both doing okay x

Itonlytakesone · 27/09/2018 20:21

@cannonball8726
Yes I'm so glad we got to tell her.

I told my parents, my fiancé's parents and fiancé's sister and husband about the sex but no one else will find that out until 20 weeks.

Iv started telling Close family & friends about the pregnancy but no one else. Word is naturally getting around but I'm not announcing on social media (I don't have Facebook only Instagram)

I'm not having any scans in between my 12 and 20 week scans, only because Iv had a scan at 8,11 & 12 weeks, the 12 weeks scan was quite uncomfortable for me too!

Any ideas what the sex will be on Saturday aww good luck it's such a special phone call! Smile you see your whole future right there and then!

cannonball8726 · 27/09/2018 20:21

Forgot to ask about @gingergnome. How are you getting on? And @sproodlemummy I hope things turned out okay?

cannonball8726 · 27/09/2018 23:16

@itonlytakesone I think we will tell our parents this weekend after Harmony results. No idea about others. It's weird that I feel so guarded about all of this. If I could keep it a secret until 20 weeks, I would! I know that's crazy. I will have to tell work soon though! I hated seeing pregnancy reveals on Facebook etc - I always felt sad that it wasn't happening to us. So I don't think such a reveal feels right for me!

No idea re: sex. Husband thinks boy. I don't have a particular feeling!

Think I'm going to try not to have any scans until 20 weeks. They are probably feeding my anxiety! (I've had scans at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks so far...!)

beanhunter · 28/09/2018 05:53

Struggling so just lurking. Currently in hospital for thr second time with dehydration. Now 11+2. Scan next week which is scary. Progesterone wean started today. Also scary.
