BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@Beherenow32
Oh no i bet you want to just cancel all of your plans and stay on the couch. That's lovely of your family to book a special gender reveal scan. I'm hiding the gender we won't tell until 20 weeks, we thought it was too much information at once! I have people asking if I'm paying for a gender scan 🙊.

Yes I'll ask the doctors for something, I'll take whatever they've got. Yesterday's washing of my hair took it out of me! Know what you mean.

Hope everyone else is doing ok Smile

beanhunter · 12/09/2018 10:34

Also feeling diabolical. 9 weeks today and have lost half a stone because I can’t eat. Scan today at recurrent mc clinic. Nervous as don’t trust my symptoms.

Beherenow32 · 12/09/2018 10:59

@Itonlytakesone that’s fair enough. I didn’t even think about an early gender reveal... wasn’t sure that I even wanted to find out. But very excited now. Yeah, wish maternity leave started as soon as pregnancy did!

@beanhunter wow is that you 9 weeks now! Sorry you’re feeling so bad. I have to force myself to eat. I used to love food!
Let us know how you get on the scan 🤞 x

Sweet211 · 12/09/2018 11:06

Hope everyone's ok any one with st marys Manchester clinic?

Beherenow32 · 12/09/2018 11:16

@Sweet211 no, sorry! I’m not in England! Hope you find someone to share experience

Sweet211 · 12/09/2018 11:34

I've had a FET before and I had a baby just wondering if it's safe to use FET again my embies are in freezer since 2014

beanhunter · 12/09/2018 16:07

Scan ok. Feel crap so back to bed for me x

TheArtfulScreamer · 12/09/2018 16:47

Glad your scan went ok and hopefully the feeling crap is the hormones as your sticky bean beds in nice and deep. Rest up and take care.

Beherenow32 · 12/09/2018 18:43

Haven’t been in a bath since falling pregnant. Considering one tonight... they’re ok, yeah? 😂😂 just need to make sure it’s not too hot..? Xx

Itonlytakesone · 12/09/2018 19:03

Well my evening nausea has showed up again...I'm stuffing my face with ginger biscuits hoping for the best.

No Iv not had a bath since becoming pregnant I wasn't one for baths before though. Wondering whether you can though as i might this weekend when I'm on a mini break (if I'm up to it still🤢)

Also spa days can you get a neck and shoulder massage if i take away the 'back' part? Going on a spa day for my hen do was just going to avoid the hot tub 🛀

Beherenow32 · 12/09/2018 19:13

@Itonlytakesone tbh, I am a little worried about the bath, and with feeling lightheaded etc...
I would have thought it was fine, as long as they don’t go towards your lower back. Definitely tell them though. It may affect which oils they use.
A spa day sounds so lovely! Xx

Beherenow32 · 15/09/2018 09:31

How is everyone doing?? Having a wobble again this morning- feeling so anxious. Due to have scan in 2 weeks and I think it’s starting to make me overthink again! Also, my bump isn’t much of a bump... prob too early? 😐 I’m 14 weeks now.
I swear I could feel them the last 2 nights though. Like a weight inside me and flutters.

Please tell me I’m not crazy for still worrying but it’s normal not to have a bump yet?! It shrunk lol.

Hope everyone is ok xx

Itonlytakesone · 15/09/2018 09:41

@Beherenow32
I'm not doing too good! Iv lost weight and have had all night nausea for four nights. Iv been given anti nausea tablets from the doctors and had one last night so feel more human today. I'm 13+2 today. No bump whatsoever 😂. Good to know it's not just me feeling anxious ect it's not easy this!

Beherenow32 · 15/09/2018 09:54

@Itonlytakesone thanks for your quick reply! Oh no... the neusea is so hard! Can’t believe it’s still going for you 😞
I still have a yucky feeling in my stomach and food aversions... but it’s calmed down a lot. Tired tho- I’m just at work, or in bed!
Let us know how you get on with the tablets. When’s your next scan again?

Everyone knows I’m pregnant now, and I’ve already received a few lovely presents. Adds to the nerves a lot though! Xx

beanhunter · 15/09/2018 10:00

In my first pregnancy I had no bump until 24 weeks xx

Beherenow32 · 15/09/2018 10:20

@beanhunter thank you. I’ll try to relax about that part! Hope you’re keeping well xx

RedPandaFluff · 15/09/2018 11:54

Hello everyone - may I join you? I'm 11dp5dt (FET, donor eggs, two embryos transferred) and I feel really despondent today. I feel like I'm on a knife-edge - I've been testing positive for days but it seems so fragile, I can't believe I'll be lucky enough for the pregnancy to continue and finally have my baby. I'm terrified there won't be a heartbeat at the viability scan (6th October) and the waiting is going to be agony.

I'm also worried because the digital test said 1-2 weeks on Wednesday (8dp5dt) and still only 1-2 weeks when I tested this morning - I think I was expecting it to have changed to 2-3 weeks.

Reassurance would be much appreciated . . . !

beanhunter · 15/09/2018 12:24

Oh redpandafluff. We get you! If you can then step away from the tests. They will stress you out and won’t tell you what is going on.
The very sad truth is that it will either be ok or it won’t. But if you’ve had a positive test and and aren’t bleeding then you have no evidence to suggest you aren’t pregnant. Thinking of you. I’m now 9.5 weeks and still convinced it will go wrong. I don’t think the uncertainty will go away - we’ve all worked so hard to get here and understand how fragile it is.

sproodlemummy · 15/09/2018 16:23

Hi everyone, looking for a little reassurance as I’m currently going crazy. I’m currently 5 weeks & 4 days pregnant. Up until today I’ve had reassuringly painful breasts the have had very prominent veins. Today they have totally deflated, are no longer painful & the veins have disappeared.

Anyone else has a this or should I fear the worst
X

RedPandaFluff · 15/09/2018 16:32

Thank you Bean - it just seems like such an unbelievable, precious, fragile thing, doesn't it?

Can't help you, Sproodle - I'm equally as (if not more) crazy as you! Our heads tell us that all this symptom-watching and hypervigilence is pointless but we still do it Sad

TheArtfulScreamer · 15/09/2018 17:28

I'm 14 weeks today and throughout my symptoms have come and gone. When I first got my BFP and prior to OTD my boobs were really sore but that calmed down and now they are occasionally a little tender. Some mornings or afternoons I'd be retching others I felt fine and dandy. For the last couple of days I've had headaches. Their is no rhyme or reason to symptoms so I find it best to always think or myself as PUPO and if the worst happens I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Welcome and congratulations to the newbies and a wave to all the other ladies still hanging on and riding this rollercoaster.

cannonball8726 · 15/09/2018 18:14

Congrats @sproodlemummy and @redpandafluff! @beanhunter and @theartfulscreamer have given very sensible advice! It's an anxious time and we can't do anything about it except try and keep ourselves happy and healthy. My symptoms have fluctuated so much! Had a week of feeling less exhausted and the nausea resolved. Nausea returned yesterday - nothing too bad though!

@beanhunter good news on the scan!

@itonlytakesone sorry you are feeling rubbish - hope these symptoms pass quickly! Hope you're able to take things easy.

@beherenow32 don't worry about not having a bump yet! Are things better with the work situation?

Hope everyone else doing okay. I'm 10+2 today and had scan and Harmony bloods this afternoon. Scan was okay. Now counting down the (12) days until my 12 week scan...!

Tigerlily99 · 15/09/2018 19:09

Welcome and congrats @sproodlemummy & @redpandafluff! Totally get the worrying, we initially had low betas and were told it could be another ectopic but bub is now 9+3 and continues to grow ok. The anxiety doesn’t go away though... Apart from sore boobs (which was from the progesterone as I had it from before the transfer), had absolutely zero symptoms until week 7. Then only had a week of bad nausea and symptoms have been abating again although nausea comes back occasionally. So no symptoms really doesn’t mean anything!

@beanbunter glad to hear scan went well, hope you start to feel better soon. X

@cannonball good luck with harmony test! We are having panorama on Fri. I think it takes 2 weeks for results though- eek! X

Beherenow32 · 15/09/2018 20:29

Hi, and congrats to the newbies! As everyone says, symptoms can change so much. We are have worried though! My symptoms got stronger at 7 weeks- and I’ve felt constantly rough since then 😂 but the intensity of things changes throughout the days.

@cannonball I’m glad your scan went well. Hopefully you get harmony results soon.
Haven’t been called in for meeting yet (it can still happen). I’m still working the long hours, even though I asked to change... been very ill but just made myself go to work. Can take it a little easier as people know now.
Thanks for asking!

I’m so fed up of eating rubbish food. I just eat anything to stop my stomach from feeling dodgy. Miss enjoying food! Will try eat better this week.hope everyone is having a nice Saturday! Xx

cannonball8726 · 16/09/2018 00:04

@tigerlily99 good luck with the Panorama testing. Have you decided to find out the foetus' sex at this point? Our Harmony results take two weeks too.

@beherenow32 totally hear you! When the nausea is bad, all I want to do is eat carbs. I usually eat generally well but that has not been the case over the past few weeks!
