BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

So now stressing that yesterday’s hcg rise was infact suboptimal.

Tigerlily99 · 21/08/2018 18:15

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing ok, seems like lots of us are worrying about symptoms or lack of. Today is the first day I’ve had nausea although I don’t know if it’s just in my mind cos I’ve been so worried about lack of symptoms! I really hope I don’t have a repeat of last time where there is absolutely nothing to see on scan. Viability scan is this Fri and feeling v worried this pregnancy is not viable... x

@cannoball8726- we plan to have NIPT at 10 weeks too if we make it that far!

Itonlytakesone · 21/08/2018 19:25

@Tigerlily99
Good luck on Friday hope you see a little embryo in there with a beating heart 💓 I'm sure you will. My nipt test is next week I'm doing it as my embryo was low quality. The embryologists can't see the chromosomal integrity through the microscope so obviously hoping for the best when the results come back, we will also find out the sex too from this test, added bonus!

@beanhunter
I didn't get nausea until 9 weeks, guess everyone is different but you will know when it arrives Iv eaten that many ginger biscuits 🙊

beanhunter · 21/08/2018 19:43

@tigerlily99 my scan is Friday too. How many weeks should you be then?

@itonlytakesone - I know what it feels like. Last pregnancy was so bad I had 4 hospital admissions for fluids. Can’t ever do ginger again. Only the drugs for me.

Tigerlily99 · 21/08/2018 20:25

@beanhunter- should be 6 weeks and 2 days on Fri, feeling v worried after low betas early last week. Have been on progesterone injections since then, can only hope that has helped. But just a guessing game until Fri. Scan is at lunch time so still have 2.5 days to stress about it! X

beanhunter · 21/08/2018 21:56

Complete snap here @tigerlily99. Also should be 6+2 and scan at lunch time. What were your beta results and when were they taken?

tikha · 22/08/2018 12:51

Hi all

Joining this thread.. 5wks +1 today. Had my BFP last friday following IVF and then had some brown spotting after that which worried me but its subsided now.. My clinic only measures repeat bHCG after 1 week so its still an anxious waiting period..

Its nice to read that we are all in the same boat and really have to take it one day at a time.

Beherenow32 · 22/08/2018 17:13

@tikha hi! And congrats. My clinic didn’t repeat our blood test, but I know how anxious the wait was before the first scan. I’m 12 weeks next week, and still get a little anxious thinking about the next scan.

Hope you’re keeping well x

Itonlytakesone · 22/08/2018 18:25

@tikha
Hi welcome from me too. I didn't have any bloods taken at all so was blissfully unaware of it was doing as it should. I bet you are thrilled to have your bfp was this your first ivf?

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and feeling crap 💩 nausea is getting me down a bit to be honest. I'm going out for a pub tea with my friends tomorrow I'm dreading it, I won't feel like eating and I'll have to pretend I'm fine and it's late 7.30pm when I'm usually comfy in my pjs 😩I'll get through it somehow. I'll tell people at 12 weeks not long to go!

How is everyone doing?

Beherenow32 · 22/08/2018 19:11

@Itonlytakesone I know how you feel with the nausea 🤢 I’m off most foods too. But need to eat to help it a little.
Tbf, today, it’s not been as bad. More tummy pain/ stretching going on. Hope this is it easing up.

When is your 12 week scan again? X

Itonlytakesone · 22/08/2018 19:43

@Beherenow32
The pub meal tomorrow is cancelled so pjs on couch for me phew! Iv felt stretching too today & I'm eating constantly although mostly healthy foods. Walk 30 mins every day which is really tiring and normally i walk everywhere my body is busy making a baby i guess.

My 12 week scan isn't until the first week of September. Chilling with Corrie on my nausea is less in the evening so I'm quite happy 😃

Beherenow32 · 22/08/2018 19:54

@Itonlytakesone sounds like you’re doing a great job. I haven’t been doing much (struggling as I have been so busy at work) and just eating plain foods with feeling sick.
But I think I’m going to be able to eat better and walk a bit more. I just hope this is the time that the placenta takes over and things get a bit easier.

Not too far away! Mine is next week xx

gingergnome · 22/08/2018 22:15

Hi Everyone! I'm away with work so just quickly checking in and reading your updates. Oh to be home and in my pj's @itonlytakesone -
sounds like heaven!
Congrats and welcome @Tigerlilly 99 and @tikha.

I'm another one with very few symptoms and sure what few there are I'm convinced must be caused by progesterone. The viability scan has calmed me down a lot though so hope it does the same for those of you waiting for some more reassurance! I'm 6+5 today and my next scan in two weeks seems so far away!

tikha · 23/08/2018 13:53

Its nice to hear that others dont have that many symptoms.. the only thing i am feeling is tiredness but that is probably the progesterone.. ended up telling my boss as I had to go for blood tests and cancel important meetings.. really can't wait to have some form of scan but its too early at this point..
@itonlytakesone i have turned down after work gigs as well.. easier to just curl up at home.

cannonball8726 · 23/08/2018 14:27

I'm 7 weeks today and feeling super tired and nauseated. Keep having to go to bed really early! Hope you're both feeling better @itonlytakesone and @beherenow32. Definitely into the PJ vibe. Managed to swing out of my plans this evening woohoo. But have some work do to attend tomorrow and then a wedding on Saturday! Thank God for bank holiday weekend.

Congrats @tikha! When is your scan?

@gingergnome hope the countdown to scan date going okay! I have my next one in a week and a half and already feeling nervous/impatient.

Best of luck for tomorrow, @tigerlily99 and @beanhunter ❤ xxx

Itonlytakesone · 23/08/2018 16:52

@tikha
Mornings are so bad for me! 🤢by the afternoon I'm mostly fine, Iv tried so hard to still not actually throw up - nearly did today .

The weather being cold & ☔️helps love the fresh air, when i feel ill i can open all the windows! (and freeze instead)
Yes pjs all the way at the moment you've got to get through it.

@cannonball8726 I was really tired at 7 weeks, i was in bed a lot!

@beanhunter @Tigerlily99 yes let us know how your scans go! 🍀

Beherenow32 · 24/08/2018 10:32

@beanhunter @tigerlily99 good luck for scans today!

Walked about a bit yesterday, but out of breath, had a stitch and cramp 😅😅 going to ease myself into healthy lifestyle again. (Back at work next week after a break. I’ll be so tired!)

Everyone else ok? X

Itonlytakesone · 24/08/2018 10:51

@Beherenow32
I feel loads better today-no nausea yet?? 🤔I'm obviously pleased although should i be worried? You really can't win, anyway still time for it to appear probably at my 12pm nail appointment 🤣.

Yes ease yourself back into exercising but gently. I'm only walking, that's all the Nhs website advises 5x 30 min walks per week so that's what I'm going off.

Hoping to hear on the two scans today hope all goes well Smile

Beherenow32 · 24/08/2018 10:57

@Itonlytakesone I was the same. Felt sooo sick. Then it went away for a few days, came back. Although I wouldn’t say it’s as intense now. It must be normal?!? I’m not so sick this morning, but can feel stretching in my tummy. Nice to hear from you 😊 I’ll just stick to a wee bit walking too x

Itonlytakesone · 24/08/2018 11:31

@Beherenow32
I'm so glad you said that, least i know where I'm at and what to expect. I know everyone is different but there must be some similarities! I'll try to relax and enjoy a day of no nausea hopefully!🤰🏼🤞🏻

beanhunter · 24/08/2018 13:23

Verdict is we don’t know. Possibly a hb but very faint and therefore they won’t say if it is one or not. They questioned my dates which stressed me out. Repeat scan next week. Feel pretty upset as the uncertainty continues.

Itonlytakesone · 24/08/2018 14:51

@beanhunter
It's still really early, you are 6+2 you are right? I'm sure i read it's not really picked up until 7-8 weeks? The heartbeat will more likely be detectable at your next scan. Try not to worry although easier said than done😐 I hope you are ok xx

beanhunter · 24/08/2018 15:06

Yes that’s the right date. But I’m sure with my daughter we saw it now.

cannonball8726 · 24/08/2018 16:38

@beanhunter that sounds hard- but six week scans are quite early and we were warned that it may be too early to be able to see a heartbeat at that time. I'm sorry that you are in limbo like this Sad

Tigerlily99 · 24/08/2018 17:32

@beanhunter- so sorry you are still faced with some uncertainty. It’s still very early and every pregnancy is different so it’s most likely it’s just a bit too soon to see hb clearly.

Have also had viability scan today. There was a heart beat but embryo is seriously teeny tiny! They said everything seemed ok but want to re-scan in 1 week to make sure there are signs of growth. So am cautiously more optimistic than before.

Hope everyone else doing ok today! X
