BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

Thank you all for your support.. Its hard outside as most people don't get what we are going through. My best friend actually happened to be passing through which is a huge support once she knew what happened. My consultant said in his 15 years he only met two women with cervical pregnancies and wasn't sure why this happened.. ah well.. such is life..

@Beherenow32 congrats on the test.

@sproodlemummy congrats on your BFP. as we say one step at a time.

Itonlytakesone · 07/09/2018 18:47

@tikha
This is terrible news and so unexpected 😞 I'm so glad we can all help you out on here it's so heartbreaking. When you try again it's good news that you've already got this far as that say the biggest hurdle in ivf is getting through all the stages and yes on here we know about them ALL! It's hard no one will truly understand unless they've been through ivf. I wish you so much luck in your next cycle when you try again.

@sproodlemummy
Congratulations and welcome Smile

Tigerlily99 · 07/09/2018 20:28

@tikha- I’m so sorry to hear this, life can be so unfair! Hope you have lots of support to get you through this time. I had a persistent pregnancy of unknown location after first round of IVF. It was thought to be an ectopic, maybe on the ovary but scans were never able to definitively locate where the pregnancy was. For some reason, there is a small increased risk of ectopic with IVF although they don’t know why... Our current pregnancy with the second go at FET looks to be in the correct place so if it happens once it doesn’t mean it will happen again. Wishing you all the best for the future. X

Hello, can I join? I had a BFP and am now 5 weeks 1 day. Anxiously waiting for scan time. I already have a DD from IVF2 and this was FET1 from that round. I can’t really believe it and feel like something will go wrong at any moment. I can’t remember how I felt physically at this stage last time. I don’t really have sore boobs that much which really puts me on edge. Towards the end of the day I tend to get slightly tender nipples but not too much. I feel slightly hungover a lot of the time. Just want scan to come, still two weeks away!

When I tested at 11DP5DT I got reasonable lines but not as strong as I was expecting. I tested again at 13DP 5DT (OTD) and they were the same, maybe only very slightly darker. When I spoke to the clinic they said a line is a line and to step away from the tests!! But if I really wanted to reassure myself I could test this week. But I am scared to now!

If I was having/had a cp would the drugs hold off the bleeding? Does anyone know? Am I being neurotic?

Tigerlily99 · 09/09/2018 11:16

Hi @jenbot and welcome! Congrats on your BFP 😁 What tests are you using? I had OKish lines with FRER but they were very faint with all other types of test. Id suggest to have a blood beta level done for reassurance but our initial betas with blood test were also quite a bit on the lower side of expected and our clinic initially stressed us out more suggesting they were too low. But went on to have doubling figures and a nicely growing little bean on scan. So what I’m trying to say is try not to worry, it’s very likely to be ok. I got myself into a huge fluster convincing myself something was wrong and google didn’t help but it turned out ok (so far 🤞). I’ve also had hardly and symptoms until last 2 days where I’ve been hit by nausea hard starting at 8 weeks and 2 days.

Sweet211 · 09/09/2018 11:25

Hi guys are u frm the uk? I had my day 6 frozen embie put in 2016 i had a baby last year she's 1 now don't give up

Sweet211 · 09/09/2018 11:25

Has anyone tried again for baby's sibling?

Itonlytakesone · 10/09/2018 18:31

@Jenbot78
Welcome glad you got a bfp the worrying starts here.! I think if you've seen a positive line on all of your test i would relax a bit? Did you test again? Bet you have (🙊I probably would have) I didn't test early actually.

I'm just over 12 weeks & tonight having a tight feeling over my whole stomach like it's tense and can't relax is this normal or should i be concerned 😟?? @Beherenow32

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 18:40

@Itonlytakesone I’ve got that right now too! Over my stomach and womb area. Is it inside? I’m guessing it’s things growing. I’ve been complaining that my stomach is small- so hopefully it’s getting bigger lol.
Definately phone midwife if you’re concerned or very uncomfortable tho xx

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 18:45

And I’m back to feeling sick- so I’m on the beige food again 🙄

Itonlytakesone · 10/09/2018 18:46

@Beherenow32
It's not painful it's just there it's weird it's kind of like it's all a bit squashed and uncomfortable but it's only just started this evening i just wondered how you are as you are slightly ahead of me! Turns out you are sat at home doing the same as me...worrying 😆 I'm hoping everything is fine, I'm totally relaxed so it's not a stress tense? Going to watch some tv get under a blanket & relax for now. Hope you feel better soon too Smile

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 18:54

@Itonlytakesone sounds like we have the same thing. Like pulling, tension squashing.
I felt sick before eating tea- so had salty crisps. Now proper regretting it 😞 lol.
Yeah, do all you can to relax. Think it’s just baby getting comfortable xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 10/09/2018 18:58

I get the tight thing to and in fairness it's usually bloat and burp related for me a good few tummy rubs to wind me and it settles down 😂 I have had a few stretching pains and I'm starting to look rounder around my middle but unfortunately I've got a B bump so just look like I've 2 spare tyres so I'm hoping that rounds off to a D bump as I get further along.

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 19:27

@TheArtfulScreamer it’s so glamorous 😂 you seem to be keeping well?
I actually feel feverish. I’ve got a virus making me lightheaded. Just hope it passes before work.
Feel like such s moan lol. I am happy! Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 10/09/2018 19:43

Truth be told if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't suspect I was. I think given our symptoms our initial prediction of a boy for me and a girl for you is even more likely. My friend was similar to yourself symtom wise and she had a girl although I say that and another friend who was a sick as dog had a boy so my theory holds no weight Grin

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 20:06

@TheArtfulScreamer that’s an interesting thought! Our symptoms are very different. I’m finding out the gender in 3 weeks! Are you finding out? I wasn’t going to... but now I really want to. Help to make it even more real xx

cannonball8726 · 10/09/2018 20:09

@jenbot78 welcome and congratulations! And stop testing :)

@theartfulscreamer @beherenow32 @itonlytakesone Tightness and stretching - more symptoms to look forward to!

Itonlytakesone · 10/09/2018 20:12

I'm getting a slightly rounded bump but can pull that in still although try not to as it's not easy! Iv had similar symptoms to @Beherenow32 and it's been confirmed I'm having a 💞. I'm nauseated still in the mornings but still avoiding vomiting but it's hard! When will this stage pass!Sad

Beherenow32 · 10/09/2018 20:26

@Itonlytakesone aw lovely news! 😊😊😊
I looked like I have a tiny wee pot belly. Before was very bloated. Maybe that’s calmed down now.
The weeks are flying by! Hope everyone else feels like that lol x

TheArtfulScreamer · 10/09/2018 20:52

I don't want to find out, everything about IVF has been so clinical and planned I want at least one surprise although I've been convinced of a boy since the day of ET so it certainly will be a surprise if I have a girl. Also I rembember being told a story of when gender scanning was in it's infancy person got told girl so named unborn baby Rosy and then when baby was born it was a boy but because for her Rosy had existed she grieved for Rosy and ended up getting PND quite badly. I know these days technology has moved on and the harmony test is accurate but much like when my gran told me if you cornered a rat it jumped for your throat and ripped it out it's a story that has stuck with me, much like my phobia and fear of rats 🤣

cannonball8726 · 10/09/2018 21:16

@itonlytakesone not understanding the sex reveal emoji- is it a girl?

I think we will find out the sex early (from Harmony), all being well. I have my Harmony bloods and scan on Saturday. Feeling nervous!

Itonlytakesone · 10/09/2018 21:35

@cannonball8726
A girl yes, results stated : Female Fetus probability 98% so hoping that's going to be accurate, will obviously be checking at my next scan at 20 weeks. All my results were fine too so I'm more relaxed now. Not long to wait until your test. Smile

cannonball8726 · 10/09/2018 21:42

Lovely, @itonlytakesone! Congratulations. Sure it makes things actually feel real :) it's so nice that you guys are past the 12 week mark too! I'm still feeling worried about things and counting down the days (16 of them) until the 12 week scan! Are any of you planning on having another scan before 20 weeks?

Itonlytakesone · 12/09/2018 10:13

@Beherenow32
Hi I'm not doing too great today, yesterday had nausea all afternoon/evening and through the night and in the morning?? Is this normal i feel so bad! It's taking so much to not throw up 🤢 I'm going to ask the doctor for something to maybe help with this tomorrow.

@cannonball8726
I'm not planning any more scans until 20 weeks and i yesterday booked my 16 week midwife appointment and whooping cough vaccine.

Who has the next scan?

Beherenow32 · 12/09/2018 10:21

@Itonlytakesone oh I feel for you. Yeah, I was like that. Constantly feeling like I would be sick. But it got easier for me around 10/11 weeks... now it’s the exhaustion, dizzy and headaches. Sitting in bed and I need to get up, walk the dog and get ready for work. I can barely even wash and brush my hair. lol not great.
Def worth asking the docs.

@cannonball8726 I have a scan 30th of September. It was a present from a family member for a gender reveal.

Told all my work yesterday. And they were very happy for me (actually the word started to get out before my announcement).

Hope everyone is ok as can be! X
