BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@Itonlytakesone congrats on baby’s safe delivery!

@TheArtfulScreamer1 sounds promising. I’ve woken up so grumpy. No other signs for me except Braxton hicks and being sore when lying in bed. I never wanted to be grumpy while pregnant, so hoping it’s hormones. Good luck x

cannonball8726 · 12/03/2019 12:42

Awwww congrats @itonlytakesone! That's amazing. Our first birth :) enjoy the time with her! How are you feeling?

How many weeks are you now @theartfulscreamer and @beherenow32? Hope you're all feeling okay. Glad to hear things are better @HJ82!

cannonball8726 · 12/03/2019 12:43

@theartfulscreamer sounds promising! Good luck xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 12/03/2019 13:21

@cannonball8726 39+4! Can’t believe it! No sign of baby coming yet. Apart from Braxton Hicks. How are you?? X

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 12/03/2019 13:32

I'm 39 + 1 and I'm still feeling the same lost a bit more bloody mucus and still have period achyness but nothing that I could discern as a contraction yet.

BeHereNowx32 · 12/03/2019 13:35

@TheArtfulScreamer1 definitely something starting since you’re losing by the plug. You could go into labour over the next few days.. I’m always on the lookout, but haven’t lost anything yet 🙊 I have the midwife on day before my due date. Not sure if she will offer a sweep, but I don’t even think I want one... yet.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 12/03/2019 14:16

I was going to have a sweep on Fri and then be booked in for induction on Mon but now I'm really hoping baby will come of it's own accord before, hopefully fairly soonish as I don't fancy this period achyness for an extended time. I used to have painful periods in my teens and 20s and I'd forgotten what they were like until today.

Itonlytakesone · 12/03/2019 14:35

@TheArtfulScreamer1
Yikes yes things sound like they are starting to begin?! Exciting. I had a long labour and things i couldn't survive without is all the obvious stuff PLUS...

Simple wipes/shower gel you will want nothing else!
Flip flops -
(for when feet swell and nothing else fits!)
Maternity pads from Tesco! Lots!!!
Bobbles & Kirby grips & dry shampoo - because you won't even brush /wash it.
A cushion with a hole in the middle for after!-(Getting one brought to me)
Earplugs & eyepatch
Impulse spray to freshen up
I took hand towels to pad myself comfy prop myself up during contractions & labour.

Good luck! Xx😊😊😊

BeHereNowx32 · 12/03/2019 15:48

@TheArtfulScreamer1 still quite a bit of time for things to get moving then. I haven’t had a sweep or induction mentioned to me... no idea what will happen after due date x

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 06:35

@Itonlytakesone massive congratulations love! Enjoy this sacred time with your little sweetheart. You did so good! I'm so happy for you.

Any update @TheArtfulScreamer1?

@BeHereNowx32 any day now!!😁

BeHereNowx32 · 14/03/2019 06:43

@HJ82 my waters broke during the night and contractions are starting! I just want to sleep more! Haha

@TheArtfulScreamer1 hope everything is going ok! X

Itonlytakesone · 14/03/2019 07:22

@BeHereNowx32
Oh wow! Excellent it's so exciting not long now until you have your precious daughter in your arms. Iv been up with mine since 3am she's cozy sleeping in my arms all warm and it's the best feeling ever.! You can do this good luck 😉 xxxxx

Itonlytakesone · 14/03/2019 07:24

@HJ82

Thanks so much I'm so overwhelmed it's really special time 💕when are you due?xx

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 10:14

@Itonlytakesone 17th June. On the strawberry moon ❤️ I do hope she comes with the full moon. I've ALWAYS gotten my period on the full.

@BeHereNowx32 amazing!!! Sending you strength my dear. How exciting 🙂

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 14/03/2019 10:17

It's all happening on this thread and physickate who behere and I cycled with had a little girl yesterday.
I'm in hospital on an IV for fluids due to dehydration and labour has all but stopped however they are going to start me off again today and likely induce me so I'll not be leaving without baby.

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 10:20

@TheArtfulScreamer1 best of luck!! Be strong and calm ❤️❤️❤️

BeHereNowx32 · 14/03/2019 10:40

@TheArtfulScreamer1 hope you’re feeling ok. Best to be in the hospital now.

Contractions are every 3 mins. Most are painful, some weaker. But trying to phone hospital for advice 😬 xx

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 10:48

@BeHereNowx32 can you check dilation? I'm nervous about that but I'm going to do it to save any unnecessary trips to hospital 😬 I'm hoping my friend who is a midwife won't be on shift when I'm labouring at home and she can pop by. How long you been going? Since early hours or yesterday eve? Happy to hear some are weak in terms of uncomfort!

BeHereNowx32 · 14/03/2019 11:13

@HJ82 I’ve to phone again when contractions are consistently painful and lasting more than 45 seconds. Not sure which hospital I’m going to, as ours is so busy.
Just had 2 close together which felt pretty sore!

Do you mean check it myself? I wouldn’t know how to.. also, worried with waters being broken. Don’t want infection. Had pain since early this morning.

Hope you’re keeping well xx

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 14:15

@BeHereNowx32 yeah my friends going to show me how to self check 😳 she said you'll feel the head- OMG. Or waters if they've not gone obvs. Hand sanitizer 😂 I'll make sure I know what I'm doing! But nerve wracking to think about it. Better then being turned away at hospital after getting out of your calm home environment.

I'm afraid that the birth centre will be full when I go into labour. I'm having mine at UCLH though and they're the top hospital for high risk in country so my midwife friends said that usually the centre is quiet as most ladies there deliver in ward. Not sure. Hoping I'll be able to use the centre depending on other things too obviously.

Hope you're doing ok!! Sending good vibes ❤️❤️

cannonball8726 · 14/03/2019 21:22

Good luck @beherenow32 and @theartfulscreamer! Can't believe the babies are coming now :)

@itonlytakesone that's so lovely! Must be such a nice feeling. Are you feeling pretty exhausted?

@HJ82 I'm at UCLH too!

HJ82 · 14/03/2019 21:27

@cannonball8726 😍 shame we aren't due same time 🙂 have you been to one of their antenatal classes? Ours is 15th may. Apartment my they show us around the birth centre then. How have you found the care? My last apt was lovely. Had a really nice midwife. Prior to that was rushed and felt fobbed off a bit. As we progress I guess they get a bit more serious. What's your due date again? April or may?

BeHereNowx32 · 15/03/2019 03:26

Will catch up at a better time, but baby is here! I’m staying in the hospital while DH has had to go home. So I’m exhausted, as didn’t sleep after labour.
So, so happy to have her here now.
Hope everyone else is well x

HJ82 · 15/03/2019 07:29

@BeHereNowx32 omg yay! Under 24hrs too! Well done you. I'm so happy for you! Let us know what you did in terms of when you went to hospital etc too. When you feel a bit more normal ❤️ hope you get some rest today xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 15/03/2019 17:33

Congratulations @beherenow do you remember on our IVF thread how I posted after embryo transfer that I was going to think positive it was going to work and I was going to have a boy on the 15th March, well I was 50% right, I had a C Section this morning after labour failed to progress and my daughter Florence was born at 10:07 weighing 7lb 12oz. We are overwhelmed but she was def worth the wait although a big surprise as I was so convinced I was having a boy, this has def been a girl power thread.
Best of luck everyone else my labour didn't go textbook but was still an amazing experience and we've already discussed when we might try our frostie Grin
