BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

P.S. epidurals are amazing don't believe all the anti epidural hype and make your own choices based on your needs at the time.

BeHereNowx32 · 15/03/2019 18:48

@TheArtfulScreamer1 aw, so happy for you! It’s so amazing having them here.
I couldn’t get an epidural. I went from 2cm to 10, so no chance for it. It was horrific! Lol too scared to try again for now, so will just enjoy this little baby.
Big congrats xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 15/03/2019 19:52

Total opposite to me I was going from 2cm to 3 over a 4 hour period the furthest I got was 6cm and that was over 4 days but all irrelevant now as nothing else matters but her Grin

cannonball8726 · 15/03/2019 21:32

OMG more babies! IVF in the summer feels like such a long time ago. So so so happy for you both, @theartfulscreamer and @beherenow32. And yes - a thread full of girls! :)

@HJ82 I'm due in 3 weeks! How's your pain now?

Itonlytakesone · 16/03/2019 01:39

@TheArtfulScreamer1
Another girl oh wow how lovely I'm so glad Florence is here safe she sounds beautiful enjoy her.

@cannonball8726
I'm exhausted yes, I'm anaemic now after a bit of blood loss guess that's pretty normal need to keep up healthy diet.

Love 💕 how all the babies have started arriving I'm just so I'm love with her 🥰xx

HJ82 · 16/03/2019 06:38

@TheArtfulScreamer1 well done dear! So happy for you. All births are beautiful no matter how our little ones get into our arms. ❤️ sounds like you had a very long ordeal but the most important thing is that she's here now and you're both ok!

@cannonball8726 I'm feeling great. Still have to be very careful as my SIJ on both sides is a bit unstable 😬 hurts in certain twists etc. But if I'm gentle I can go all day without feeling any pain.. just hoping the exercise I'm doing will make it stronger and pass. Clearing a year of Pilates didn't prep my glutes and back for the relaxin surge as best I'd planned! Starting yoga next Tuesday in archway. My friend suggested a great class there. Goes for 90mins and you have tea with the other mums to be 🥰

Can't believe you're all almost holding your little ones! I'm so far behind. It's very exciting ❤️

Started out hypnobirthing classes last week and doing my daily practice of self hypnosis (badly) I've always been terrible with meditation and feel like this is so similar. My affirmations are going well though. I'm sure when I'm in that level of pain I'll drift off just fine though. You can't resist it, that's for sure! You'll be in labour forever if you do. 😱

Take care everyone and I hope your postpartum healing is quick and smooth.

HJ82 · 16/03/2019 06:41

@cannonball8726 how are YOU feeling with only 3 weeks to go? I hope not too uncomfortable

HJ82 · 16/03/2019 06:45

Also, who used the the positive birth companies "Freya app"? I'm so happy that she's had an app made! Looking forward to using for my surges ❤️

BeHereNowx32 · 16/03/2019 10:36

@HJ82 I used that app and felt it relaxed me in the weeks leading up to the birth, but my contractions came on thick and fast so didn’t use the app during actual labour.
Good if you can relax and breathe. I failed at that! Until I got diamorphine!

Baby blues hormones have kicked in today. The last few days have been whirlwind xx

CritterTamer · 19/03/2019 05:47

Hi everyone, so much has happened since I checked in last! Congratulations on all the births and beautiful babies - hope you are all doing well and enjoying this special time with your little ones ❤️

@Cannonball8726 - nearly there now - hope you're feeling OK 😊
@HJ82 - looks like it's just me and you for the next couple of months now! Glad to hear that you are feeling better xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 19/03/2019 08:03

How are all pregnant ladies getting on?? Hope you’re keeping well, and able to enjoy the last part of pregnancy.

Feels like it was so long ago that I was pregnant! (Baby just 5 days old today lol). Can’t evdn remember this time last week xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 19/03/2019 13:56

Behere I've had a similar conversation with my hubby as this time last week was when my labour started off it's hard to believe that she was on the inside such a short time ago how on earth did they fit in Grin

BeHereNowx32 · 19/03/2019 14:33

@TheArtfulScreamer1 how are you getting on??

I’m finding recovery very difficult, and I’m anaemic again which makes me feel worse. I’ve been breastfeeding which has turned into combination feeding due to her losing too much weight. But I am finding it so hard!

I love that wee thing so much though. Just want to feel better to look after her xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 20/03/2019 08:49

I'm not doing to badly to be honest, my section wound is recovering well although I have to remember I've had major abdominal surgery as sometimes I forget until I bend to pick something up or twist to reach something. My milk came in yesterday but I've been having to do a top up feed a day as my supply isn't quite what she needs and I've also resorted to a dummy as she is a comfort suckler. It's weigh day today so hopefully she'll not have lost to much. Because of her feeding pattern I've been getting decent blocks of sleep but still haven't caught up from what I missed out on in hospital but I'm getting there. I'm sure you're doing fabulous but as new mums we do worry about all sorts (I couldn't go over to sleep one night as I was worrying about things like what if when she's an adult she gets a partner that hits her and she won't leave themShock) and being aneamic can't be helping at all but hopefully once your iron levels pick up you'll feel a bit more human.

BeHereNowx32 · 20/03/2019 11:13

@TheArtfulScreamer1 I am the same with the crazy worries! Last night I was worrying about her having to go through childbirth and a horrible recovery like me. 🙄 emotionally I feel better today. But during the night she is wanting to feed every 1 - 2 hours. And during the day she sleeps allll the time! I need her to feed because my boob is so full 😩

Sounds like you are doing well though. Xx

cannonball8726 · 20/03/2019 19:17

Wow that sounds crazy, @theartfulscreamer and @beherenow32. A real insight into being postpartum! You guys are doing a fab job. I can't believe your precious little ones are here- it's truly amazing.

I'm okay - getting tired! Friday is my last day at work. Am 37 weeks. Was going to have an ELCS at 39 weeks (no medical reasons) but now decided that I'd like to try a vaginal birth. So three weeks until due date! I've been getting period pains occasionally over the past week and a slight increase in discharge. And night sweats! I've stopped going to the gym now (stopped three weeks ago) as I have been getting some pelvic girdle pain - so just sticking to yoga and walking- but getting so slow at the latter! I'm a bit worried that I'm not doing enough exercise now and eating too much and that it'll take ages to lose the weight - I really should stop worrying about such trivial things though!

How are you doing @crittertamer and @HJ82? How many weeks are you both now?

HJ82 · 20/03/2019 19:27

@BeHereNowx32 have you got the book "the baby whisperer " it's amazing. I'm half way through. So many friends recommended it to me. Sounds like it might be helpful with the feeding/sleeping etc?
❤️

HJ82 · 20/03/2019 19:37

@cannonball8726 all good here! Just practicing my self hypnosis and breathing exercises and researching far too much about absolutely everything. Haha. That's me though! I didn't realise you weren't considering vaginal birth? Have you looked into hypnobirthing at all? I'm not sure I could do it without learning all these techniques. I've been so calm throughout my pregnancy, I'm loving the new zen me. I hope it sticks around!!! I think all this learning relaxation techniques has helped immensely, just in my day yo day outlook. So I think regardless of the outcome of my birth, it's def helping me in life 😀 I'm 27weeks now. Look like I'm 37 lol!!! Haven't really gained much weight, maybe 7kgs. It's all belly and love handles at the moment. I'm sure I'll grow a lot more 😬 started yoga last night and was great. Such a good group. We practice labour positions and breathing etc. And talk about fears and things. The teacher was a midwife and doula and is now in her 70s. I'm rambling... very excited for you! So close now!! ❤️

HJ82 · 20/03/2019 19:39

@CritterTamer team June!! 🙂 nice to see you back here! Hope you're feeling well. 3 months to go now 😊

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 20/03/2019 20:32

@Cannonball I'm sure the next 3 weeks will fly by for you and then a week after that when your baby is here you'll forget what life was like before they existed.
My labour started off as feeling like period pains so fingers crossed things are heading in the right direction for you.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 31/03/2019 15:55

Happy Mothers Day mummies and mummies to be, today is a day I never thought I'd be in a position to celebrate and I can't believe I've finally opened my own card and recieved the most beautiful bouquet but the biggest gift is my gorgeous DD. Hope everyone else is having a lovely day.

BeHereNowx32 · 31/03/2019 18:40

@TheArtfulScreamer1 happy mother’s day to you and everyone. Such a nice feeling to be a mummy!
I will treasure my first card. Hope you’re keeping well xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 03/04/2019 20:13

We're doing ok my milk supply is building so I'm not having to top up as much and we're getting a reasonable amount of sleep considering we have a newborn. DD is putting weight on well and I think today is the last day we'll get out of her little first size clothes.
How's everyone else going on? Not long to go now @cannonball

BeHereNowx32 · 03/04/2019 21:31

@TheArtfulScreamer1 good to hear that you’re both doing well. Do you find that your little one is feeding A LOT? My baby seems to always want to be on me, for hours. We give her formula when it gets too much for me. But I’m definitely making milk! Having some lovely skin on skin time just now.

Would be good to hear from others, and how you’re all getting on xx

BeHereNowx32 · 03/04/2019 21:44

I’m hoping baby is latching on properly. She won’t let me help her into position. Can get frustrating for us both.. xx
