BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

HJ82 congratulations on the little girl we seem to be a very girl heavy thread, infact I think apart from one of critters twins and me being convinced mines a boy albeit not confirmed all the gender reveals have been girls. Bad news on the injury it can be difficult enough to manage physically when pregnant without further injury, get rested up and if you struggle seeing a GP maybe your midwife can refer you to physio?

BeHereNowx32 · 21/02/2019 14:39

@HJ82 congrats on the girl news 💖💖 I did wonder if ivf meant more girls, because there seems to be lots on the forums! Very exciting though. Makes it more real.
The pain is a very sharp shooting pain down my bottom back, bum, leg. It just happens randomly. Used to only last a second but now it sticks and I need to sit down. Been ok so far today, and I’ve been out and about, which is how I want to be!
Sorry, you’re in a lot of pain. I hope it eases off. Otherwise it will be difficult while you’re still working etc.

@TheArtfulScreamer1 you’re allowed a little moan on here though. We know that we are all still grateful to be where we are now! Are you excited about finishing up for work? This is my second week off. I’ve already forgotten about work! I’m 37 weeks tomorrow!! What about you? I know you’re close dates with me.

Xx

cannonball8726 · 21/02/2019 18:12

@AniSL congratulations! Lovely news :) how are you feeling? The early days are so nervewracking - I hope you are keeping yourself distracted. How are you doing @Jenbot78?

@HJ82 oh dear that doesn't sound good :( any luck with the physio? Hope things get better with a bit of rest! Congrats on the little girl :) the cat reveal sounds hilarious.

@TheArtfulScreamer1 woohoo your last day of work! Enjoy the rest and pottering in garden.

@beherenowx32 glad the sciatica hasn't been too bad today. You and @theartfulscreamer1 are getting so close now!

I'm 33 weeks - doing generally okay but finding work so tiring. Four more weeks of work left, really hoping that they fly by... also really scared of the birth and worried about complications. These babies are so wanted- the stakes feel so high.

Jenbot78 · 21/02/2019 19:26

Hey, yes I’m doing ok thanks cannonball. After a very miserable few days of spotting and bleeding I booked in for a very early scan at 6+3. The morning of the scan I had a bleed that was fairly significant. I cried to the sonographer to just give me the bad news. Anyway, turns out I am pregnant! Little tiny heartbeat seen...but I have something called a subchorionic hematoma which is like a small bleed in my uterus. Quite common apparently ( but still doesn’t help with nerves.) I feel like every day is such hard work to stay positive and not worry! Can’t wait till I’m past the first trimester!

BeHereNowx32 · 22/02/2019 10:13

@cannonball8726 I’m also thinking about the labour a lot! Just want baby here safe (I am a little worried for myself too though 🙈). Hope work goes in fast for you. I really struggled at the stage you’re at.

@Jenbot78 so glad that everything seems to be ok so far. That is stressful about the bleed, but good that there’s a reason for it x

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 22/02/2019 11:16

It seems strange that as I left work yesterday the next time I go in will be socially to show off my newborn and the next time I go in to work will be next year.
I'm 37 weeks tomorrow or Mon depending on if you go by ET date or the EDD from the 12 week scan, I prefer using ET date as it's sooner but officially it's Mon. It's creeping ever closer and I can't believe that within a month my little one will more than likely be here in my arms.

BeHereNowx32 · 22/02/2019 13:59

@TheArtfulScreamer1 yeah, I would go by transfer date. I was measuring ahead at my 12 week scan but they didn’t change the EDD, as ivf dates are accurate.

I’m 37 weeks today. Hormones all over the place. Getting close! Xx

HJ82 · 24/02/2019 23:22

Update from my sorry butt...They think it's either a severe gluteal tear or herniated disc. 😣 I'm so deflated. Both will be a good few weeks-months recovery. Was having such a blissed out pregnancy 😂 my dodgy back came to crash the party! I've been signed off work for 4 weeks and physio weekly. Sciatic pain is debilitating @BeHereNowx32 absolutely excruciating. I was in a cold sweat and my entire body shaking last night. Guess I'm being prepped for labour 😬 I'm rethinking drug free birthing centre now lol! Although we will see what they say about the whole thing 😓 hopefully I'll kick this before the end of March! Feeling a bit better today 💪 😬

Hope everyone had an ace weekend x

BeHereNowx32 · 25/02/2019 09:32

@HJ82 that sounds horrendous. Yeah, the sciatic pain is so bad. It comes and goes for me, but am getting it much more frequently. I’m the same as you with the pain relief for labour... I am getting sooo nervous for it now!
Take care x

cannonball8726 · 03/03/2019 09:40

Oh no @Hj82 - that sounds ghastly. How are you feeling now?

How's everyone getting on? I'm 34+3 and finishing work at 37 weeks. Starting to get pelvic pain and really wishing that I was going earlier... must push on!

BeHereNowx32 · 03/03/2019 13:36

@cannonball8726 you’re so close. Do you have any holidays to use before? I was lucky that I could finish 3 weeks before maternity actually starts (tomorrow).
I’m ok. Been getting sciatic pain still, which is a pain. And constantly on the look out for labour signs now! (I’m 38+2). I was getting painless contractions. But not much else going on just now. Need to make myself relax.

Hope you’re pelvic pain eases off xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 04/03/2019 13:58

@HJ82 I hope your poorly bum is on the mend, pregnancy can be tough enough without additional injuries.
I've had my last growth scan today and all looking good but my consultant wants me to get the midwife to do a stretch and sweep on Thurs and maybe another one next week and then book an induction for due date if baby isn't here. I'm in 2 minds about the stretch and sweep this week as there's no signs my body is gearing up yet and I can't see the point in putting myself through it twice when surely if it's going to work it'll work being done once at the right time. What do you ladies think?
@behere you're just in front of me have any plans been made yet for your delivery.

BeHereNowx32 · 04/03/2019 16:31

@TheArtfulScreamer1 I’m feel the same as you. Not keen on a sweep, unless I go way over due. Feel like baby will come when ready.
I’m plannkng on going to MLU if there is space for me. When I last saw midwife she said I was having contractions, but that all seems to have settled now, and I’m just trying not to watch out for labour signs all the time!! Have you had any labour signs? X

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 04/03/2019 17:05

No signs what so ever I've never even had Braxton hicks I think baby is quite comfy in there.

BeHereNowx32 · 04/03/2019 17:15

@TheArtfulScreamer1 oh well. We still haven’t time! Prob the longer they are in there, the better for them. I am getting really bad pains in my legs, which seems pointless! lol baby must be putting all her weight further down.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Let us know x

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 07/03/2019 11:14

I decided not to have the sweep today as I don't see the point when I think my body isn't ready yet, I'm going to have one back end of next week and hopefully that'll start me off next weekend and if not I'll be going in for an induction at 40 weeks.

BeHereNowx32 · 07/03/2019 11:39

@TheArtfulScreamer1 sounds like a good decision. Gives your baby more time to get ready before coming out into the world.

I still don’t feel like my time will be soon. Was getting cramps last night. But nothing today. I just hope baby is doing ok in there! I do get some movement. Won’t be seeing the midwife until next week (day before my due date...).

Good luck!

How is everyone else?? Xx

HJ82 · 08/03/2019 18:33

Hi ladies
My sciatic pain went away 😅 but I still have outer numb leg pain which is harmless and not back related - just unfortunate. When I sit it stops. It's very common. Uterus pressing in lateral nerve. Ho hum. Happy it's not worse! Everything else is good. Having physio a lot and my pelvis is a bit unstable so I'm doing heaps of strengthening exercises for that. I really thought a year of Pilates prepped my hips and glutes, clearly not. Feeling pretty good though and it's not a herniated disc. Urgh some drs are so ridiculous with their loose diagnoses 🙄

I'm not going to let them intervene if I can 😬 I think baby will come when it's time. They shouldn't be performing routine sweeps?!

Had 25 week apt today and everything looks good.

Can't believe you're about to have your baby @BeHereNowx32 sending you all my best wishes!!

Take care everyone ❤️

BeHereNowx32 · 08/03/2019 20:05

@HJ82 sorry to hear that you’re still in pain. Although you sound positive! 😊

I still get sciatic pain at night. Trying out a birthing ball. So, maybe that is helping. No sign of labour now! I’m just so, so tired! I barely move!

Hope pain gets better for you x

Itonlytakesone · 09/03/2019 00:07

Hello!

Iv literally not caught up at all and the more i left it i thought I'm that behind I'll never do it🙈. Anyway instead of just not getting in Touch id just update you on how I'm doing!

I'm 38+1 and my waters broke yesterday morning but no labour happened overnight so I'm now in the middle of being induced 😖not pleasant not sure how it's going to workout or when she will finally be born!

Anyway I'm sat up with nothing to do i probably won't be able to sleep so i might finally get chance to catch up on how you are all doing now!

HJ82 · 09/03/2019 08:53

@Itonlytakesone best wishes dear! Nice to hear from you. Especially from the midst of labour!! 😁 That actually happened to my friend last month but she refused induction and when her contractions finally started and she got past the 24hr point she then refused to be moved from birthing centre to ward. She ended up with a water birth after 28hrs. Baby was fine. ❤️ I hope the induction is ok for you. Good luck!!

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 09/03/2019 18:22

Exciting times @itonlytakes fingers crossed everything is ok for you and your little one.
I thought my waters had gone this morning as my pants were soaked when I got up but I've been to hospital and they say not, I'm now paranoid it was hind waters and I'm at risk of infection as it wasn't urine and was to liquid for discharge. Just keeping my fingers crossed labour does start for real soon and the antibiotics I'm on for UTI are dual purpose and keeo any other infections at bay.

BeHereNowx32 · 09/03/2019 19:48

@Itonlytakesone hope you don’t have long to wait until baby here, and labour goes more smoothly after the induction. Good luck!

@TheArtfulScreamer1 hoping labour kicks in!

Just lots of Braxton Hicks for me. Same as every other day this week! Although it’s more often x

Itonlytakesone · 11/03/2019 23:56

I had her on 9th late! Forceps delivery as a long labour and poor baby had a fast heart at the end so they whipped her out!

She's beautiful 💕we are absolutely in love! Xx

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 12/03/2019 10:20

@itonlytakes congratulations our first birth, who'd have dreamt this is where we'd end up all those months ago when we started on the emotional IVF rollercoaster.
I've had a tiny bit of a bloody show today and I feel very period achey so I'm hoping things will get going for me in the next day or so.
