BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@HJ82 hi! I am now 35 weeks. Baby is very low down, but I don’t know if that means anything?! I am now finished up for work, which is great, as feeling pretty tired and uncomfortable. I had my iron levels checked the other day, but have been taking tablets, so I think should be ok now! 🤞

How many weeks are you? That’s such lovely news about your buggy. That’s so exciting. Have you had a chance to push it around yet? Xx

cannonball8726 · 09/02/2019 17:04

Hey guys, all okay here. My glucose tolerance test was normal which is a relief! I'm 31 weeks and feeling tired. Not sure I will last another six weeks at work as I work long hours but will have to see how things go.

@HJ82 awesome news on the babyzen! We are being lent loads too which is really good. Haven't bought pram yet but decided on the Bugaboo Bee!

@beherenow32- amazing that you're off now!

Hope everyone's doing okay xxx

Beherenow32 · 09/02/2019 17:28

@cannonball8726 good news about test. It was around 30ish weeks that I also thought I couldn’t cope with work much longer. Luckily I have lots of holidays. Take it easy, and look after yourself!

Being pregnant still doesn’t feel real. I think back to when we went through ivf a lot and I just can’t believe that I’m here now. 💗

HJ82 · 16/02/2019 09:26

@cannonball8726 glad you decided on pram ❤️ and super happy all went well with GTT. How you feeling in general now? I'm 22 weeks and huge!! People insist on giving me a seat on public transport. I just want to stand sometimes. 😂 it's very kind but when you turn down their offer they look at you in disgust. Is there a rule to this? Must you take the seat?

@Beherenow32 some nights I feel like I'm going to explode. I can't imagine what 35 weeks feels like!! You're right up there at the finish line! Wishing you all the best. I'll probably come over to the other chat at some point. I've liked this one as not so many peeps ❤️

@Itonlytakesone how are you??!

And
@TheArtfulScreamer?

@CritterTamer we are almost the same weeks right? Are you feeling good?

@hazeesh12 how are you? Did you come off the progesterone? Hope all ok x

Jenbot78 · 16/02/2019 09:56

Hi, I can I join? I think most people on here are quite far along in their pregnancies but anyway just need a place to vent. I am 6 + 2 weeks pregnant after a FET. Since my BFP I have had spotting every couple of days- sometimes bright red, sometimes pink and sometimes brown. No cramps or anything. I feel like I am going out of my mind! Clinic say it could be the Utrogestan pessaries irritating my cervix or something else. I had a blood HCG test at 5+4 and it came back as 5250. I am so worried and miserable all the time! Clinic scan not for another ten days so have booked in for a private scan tomorrow at 6+3. Just hoping and praying it’s not too early to see anything. Anyone have any thoughts to offer? Thanks 🙏

CritterTamer · 16/02/2019 09:58

@HJ82 - yes we're about the same - I'm 22 weeks tomorrow. Like you feeling huge and very uncomfortable and worrying about how bad it will be in another 10 weeks! I feel very tired but much less sick and ill these days which is great. The low-lying placenta has started to move up too which means all the stressful bleeding and spotting has stopped 😊

HJ82 · 16/02/2019 10:07

@CritterTamer excellent news!!

@Jenbot78 I spotted for the first couple of weeks post AF due date. I had a scan at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat. Have your scan to ease your worry. Try not to worry! It's such early days, spotting is very normal ❤️ I wish you all the best x

cannonball8726 · 16/02/2019 10:38

@jenbot78 spotting is really common! The early days are horrible - I felt like every day was going so slowly. Congratulations on the pregnancy and keep yourself really distracted - I found that helpful as I was going out of my mind!

@HJ82 enjoy the rest on the tube! I have been so grateful for people giving up seats - my job is exhausting! But it's cool if you don't want to sit - people shouldn't be pissed off about that. Ordered the pram and it's coming today! Bit nervous to have bought it (I'm 32 wks and it still feels too early to be buying a pram) - I'm probably just being bonkers! I'm feeling well. Work has been busy and I have been working long hours but I am making the most of my rest time - not doing very much this weekend apart from chilling! Are you well? Did you find out if it's a boy or girl? I know you had Harmony test but can't remember if you chose to find out early.

@beherenow32 - I know what you mean - I can't really believe this is all happening either. How are you doing?

@crittertamer brilliant news about the bleeding - must be a relief! Twins must be so hard to carry - hope you're feeling okay. When will you go on mat leave? Do you know the sex of your twins?

CritterTamer · 16/02/2019 11:01

@Cannonball8726 - yes they are boy/girl twins, and so incredibly heavy to carry around already! I bought my pram at 15 weeks because we got an amazing deal on the exact one I had wanted in a closing down sale. I think you're fine at 32 weeks 😊

cannonball8726 · 16/02/2019 11:12

@crittertamer oh yes you bought a Donkey! We got ours on offer too :) ah a boy and a girl :) that's lovely! I'm sure they are heavy. Do you think you'll go off work a bit earlier? I'm counting down days until mat leave. Have 5 weeks left - I hope it flies!

CritterTamer · 16/02/2019 11:21

I've got a while to go yet - I've asked to finish officially at 36 weeks, plus I have a week of holidays left to use by 31st March which I'm realistically not going to be able to take, so requested that I can carry them over and finish at 35 weeks. I've got a meeting booked with HR to discuss whether they'll do this as it's not normally allowed, but to be honest at 35 weeks with twins I think the risk of me going into early labour in the office will be enough that they'll be happy to get rid iof me - especially as I'm the health and safety manager and primary first aider lol.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 16/02/2019 11:50

I'm doing fab thanks I've a bit of lower back pain but think thats just as things stretch out. I had a pregnancy massage on Thurs which was great. This coming week is my last week at work and then I've got 3 weeks off before EDD. I'm at the consultant on Mon for a growth scan and discussion about the birth as the don't like IVFers to go over in my trust so things are all getting very real.
Glad that everyone seems to be getting on ok and welcome Jenbot like the others say spotting is quite common but we all remember the terrible anxiety and abject terror the first few weeks bring and whilst it does get easier it never quite disappears, good luck x

cannonball8726 · 16/02/2019 17:22

@crittertamer haha yes it sounds tempting for them to let you finish at 35 weeks! Glad you're feeling better though - esp after the OHSS, sickness and bleeding. You definitely deserve a nice second trimester!

@theartfulscreamer1 nice to hear from you! Can't believe it's so close for you and @beherenow32. Do you have any plans for your time off before baby's arrival?

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 16/02/2019 18:00

I'm planning on doing a few very small jobs in the garden if the weather and my back allow, some batch cooks so I've plenty of quick freezer teas in and hopefully some nice afternoon naps and gentle strolls Grin. It seems hard to believe that this time last year we were wondering if we'd ever be parents and thinking we might be starting 2019 accepting being just the two of us.

Jenbot78 · 16/02/2019 20:06

Thanks ladies for your supportive words. I really appreciate it! You are so right artfulscreamer about the abject terror. I have a daughter through IVF and I thought for some reason it would be easier this time around. What a joke! Congrats on impending babies. Good to remember that it gets easier as the weeks go by (if I get that far!) xx

BeHereNowx32 · 18/02/2019 09:46

Good to hear that everyone is doing well.

@cannonball8726 I’m doing ok, thanks. Dreaming about labour every night and constantly looking for signs 😂 I’m 37 weeks on Friday. So, will be good to get to that point.
That’s so exciting about your buggy. Think I was 25 weeks when I got mind due to the sales. I also felt nervous about having it, but a relief to have chose and bought one!
Hope your mat leave comes in soon!! I haven’t done loads so far. Really still trying to get the house organised. Going round in circles with that! Friends have asked me to meet up before baby. Which I will try to do, but I just feel so lazy! Do you have plans before baby comes?

@CritterTamer I ended up finishing at 35 weeks (using holidays). Really can’t imagine working longer than that, especially with twins!!!

@Jenbot78 congrats. Early pregnancy is so so nerve wracking. Hope the spotting stops for you.

How is everyone feel anxiety wise? I feel my nerves starting to creep back. Always thinking about baby movement (which I done feel very often now. Hopefully just due to anterior placenta). She does move everyday which stops me phoning anyway. Wish we saw the midwife every week!
Xx

BeHereNowx32 · 18/02/2019 15:48

So, went to the hospital just to check since I’m not feeling movment, and all seems ok. Must be the placenta blocking me from feeling it. Measuring a little behind, but had a scan and baby looks ok.

Feel so much better getting checked though xx

AniSL · 18/02/2019 20:18

I'm joining too if thats ok, bit behind most of you. 7+1, had my 2nd scan today and saw that little heart beating away, another scan in 2 weeks again, being monitored very closely thankfully.
We had FET with two frosties put back in, one stuck.

BeHereNowx32 · 19/02/2019 09:59

@AniSL congrats on your pregnancy 👋 x

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 20/02/2019 19:22

What is it with UTIs and pregnancy, I've never had a UTI in my life (I'm 37) and last month I had one which cleared up with Antibiotics and today I've been at maternity assessment due to odd movements (crazy dance party yesterday and next to nothing today) and it looks like I've another UTI. I felt a right paranoid loon today but the hospital were really good and understanding and thankfully other than the UTI everythings fine and dandy. Anyway rant over, I hope everyone else is doing ok.
Congratulations Anisl I recognise your name from an IVF thread around the time I started mine last May so I'm glad you finally got your BFP.

BeHereNowx32 · 20/02/2019 21:45

@TheArtfulScreamer1 sorry you’re suffering! I haven’t had any uti, but getting sciatic pain more regularly now. Are you finished up for work yet? X

HJ82 · 21/02/2019 12:19

@cannonball8726 we are having a girl! We did the reveal at our engagement party. It was super cute. Our cat did the reveal with a pink flashing collar. Haha. My friends orchestrated it. It's was all very exciting! Bad news from here I'm afraid- I have had glute cramps and I was stretching out and tore something! 😣 I can't walk at all. I've not seen a dr because as usual I can't get in. Physio coming to asses later today. Hopefully I don't have to go to hospital. My muscles are so tight. I was expecting something to give eventually 😔

@BeHereNowx32 what's the sciatica feel like? I don't think I have that. No pain going down leg or numbness in foot etc. How awful for you! Mine is just mid butt cheek and severe when I put weight on it. I got crutches but tbh they don't help much. So frustrating 😖

HJ82 · 21/02/2019 12:20

@AniSL huge congratulations to you! ❤️

HJ82 · 21/02/2019 12:22

@TheArtfulScreamer1 oh to be able to get in the garden! I did clear it out last weekend. I'll have to wait to recover before I turn soil and prep for seedlings 😢 have fun with yours!

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 21/02/2019 13:15

Last day at work today and I'm over my little rant from yesterday, I watched a programme called The Abused on channel 5 and whilst for me it's always been a given not a privledge that I'm not a victim of abuse it's not the same for everyone and made me very thankful for my DH and the home environment my little one will become part of.
