BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@beherenow32 we have bought nothing yet. May buy something in the sales over next few days. We are still undecided on prams (I want the babyzen like @HJ82, husband wants Bugaboo Bee!). Hopefully a friend will lend us chicco next2me crib. We haven't looked at car seats yet. A friend is lending us a few things which is helpful.

We have started making a list of names that we like but no single one is a clear winner yet! Have my 25 week midwife appointment in a few days. Baby is moving around a lot now which has helped my anxiety - it's nice to feel her wriggling away.

How are you all? Wishing you ladies a lovely Christmas.

Beherenow32 · 24/12/2018 14:00

@cannonball8726 nice to hear from you. Sounds like your planning is coming along nicely. Still lots of time to choose and buy things. So cute with all the movement 😊 have you been feeling ok?

I’m anemic but haven’t been feeling too bad at all. Just need to take some iron tablets.

Had our 4d scan yesterday- and obviously it was so nice to see baby doing well. But I had to jump, jiggle, walk, turn around have my belly shaken. So it was hard to enjoy it all! Didn’t like the shaking of the belly but I’m guessing baby will be ok in there! She had her face covered.

Hope everyone doing ok, and feeling well enough to enjoy Xmas! Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 25/12/2018 14:17

Merry Christmas one and all, I think Christmas next year might be very different for us x

cannonball8726 · 25/12/2018 19:40

All well thanks @beherenow32. Feeling generally well. Hope you are tolerating the iron tablets okay. Horrible stuff! Merry Christmas :)

@theartfulscreamer Merry Christmas to you too :) how are you getting on? You must be heading into third trimester too?

Itonlytakesone · 26/12/2018 09:26

Merry Christmas to all, Iv been away on honeymoon and with Christmas too Iv not had time to read through the chat! Going to catch up soon and I'll be back.

I had a scan Christmas Eve baby is fine 👶🏻she's growing nicely still hope you're all ok 😍

TheArtfulScreamer · 26/12/2018 10:10

@cannon I'm officially in my third trimester, I had a scan on Christmas eve and baby is doing well but is at the top of the centile chart so I've to go for a GTT tomorrow morning at 08:30 to rule out GD, but my DH is fairly stocky, I've issues with weight and my BIL was a 10lb+ baby so I think I'm just destined not to have a titchy petite child.

Hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday we've round 2 at MIL today.

Beherenow32 · 26/12/2018 10:43

@Itonlytakesone
@TheArtfulScreamer

Great news about your scans! Good luck @TheArtfulScreamer with the GTT. Could they estimate baby’s weight at the scan? At ours baby was thought to be 2lb 8oz 😊

Had the worst pain ever last night. Think it was just a bad case of that round ligament pain, but wondering if it’s a little taster of what labour pains will be like.

@Itonlytakesone hope wedding and honeymoon all went amazing for you. Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 26/12/2018 11:19

@behere they said about 2lb7oz give or take 7oz, I said to my DH I hope this isn't the stage where they put on a lb a week Grin

Beherenow32 · 26/12/2018 12:09

@TheArtfulScreamer oh good! Similar weights with us both then! 😊 I’m so relieved as was worrying about my little bump.
We will be huge in the next month or so then 🙃🙃 xx

cannonball8726 · 27/12/2018 10:40

So nice to hear that you are all in third trimester, @itonlytakesone @theartfulscreamer @beherenow32! Another milestone :)

Best of luck for your GTT today @theartfulscreamer. Hopefully will all be okay. Let us know how you get on!

@itonlytakesone what an amazing couple of months you've had. Are you feeling well?

@beherenow32 hope the round ligament pain has settled!

Does anyone else feel like the last few weeks have gone so quickly? I'm 25 weeks and time is now flying (the first few weeks passed so slowly!). Definitely starting to feel an itch to do a bit of nesting. Going to start clearing out stuff from our spare room!

Beherenow32 · 27/12/2018 11:53

@cannonball8726 good if you’re feeling productive! Let us know how you get on. We have started clearing room, and I’ve actually chosen (and bought paper) on how I want to decorate. Don’t have much energy at all today tho. Going to do little bits at a time because I want everything ready for her coming.
Good luck with your clear out x

TheArtfulScreamer · 28/12/2018 11:54

GTT was fine so just looks like I might be having a little chunk. My iron levels are boderline though so I'm off out to buy steak and broccoli for tea and dried apricots to snack on.

Cobblestones · 28/12/2018 13:43

Hi ladies I hope you all are well and enjoying your pregnancy. I have been reading back here ever since getting a BFP following IVF.

I wanted to ask - did any of you take Cyclizine for anti sickness in your first trimester? My local hospital has given this to me and I just wanted some reassurance that it was safe for an IVF pregnancy.

Also did it help those of you who did take it?

All the very best to all of you heading towards the finish line 🤞🤞

Beherenow32 · 28/12/2018 15:33

@TheArtfulScreamer yeah, try get those iron levels up without the use of tablets, because the tablets are horrible. I feel awful (or that’s just the 3rd trimester!). Good news about GTT.

@Cobblestones hi and congrats. 😊 sorry, no experience with the anti sickness tablets. I know people who have had to take them in general though, so I’m sure it will be safe.

CritterTamer · 28/12/2018 16:15

@Cobblestones - yes I've been prescribed cyclezine tablets during the first trimester. I was told I was allowed to take up to 3 a day but I only take them when I really need them. Now almost 15 weeks and all is good so far.

CritterTamer · 28/12/2018 16:17

@Cobblestones - sorry I should have added that they do help a little - they take the edge off it for 1.5 - 2 hours, which is better than no relief at all!

Cobblestones · 28/12/2018 16:30

Thanks @behere and @critter that’s reassuring 😊

Beherenow32 · 29/12/2018 10:33

Just got my letter through for ante natal classes- bet that they will be really boring, but I’m excited for them! 😊

Anyone else feel that their energy has been zapped? @cannonball8726 how did you get on with clearing the room? X

HJ82 · 08/01/2019 22:33

Hi everyone, happy 2019! Hope you all had a nice break. I'm currently in transit from 29 degree days for 3 weeks straight to, well... Grey. How's everyone feeling? I'm sporting a very round bump. Starting to look quite pregnant now at just 17weeks. 😬 @Beherenow32 I've been having a racing pounding heart from time to time, usually when going to sleep, which is awful! You still getting them? My resting rate was 90 the other day, which is normal in pregnancy apparently- but then it races in scare to check it 😕 gonna mention to midwife anyway.

cannonball8726 · 08/01/2019 22:52

Happy new year, folks! It's a big year for us all :)

@HJ82 hope you've had an amazing time away! How was the big family reveal? Not long to go to your 20 week scan!

All well here... I'm almost 27 weeks now and generally feeling okay apart from a bit of back pain. Nothing too major though. Definitely slowing down - have gone from being really spritely to not being able to walk as fast! Also get a bit breathless on an incline. Still going to the gym and doing yoga but having to take it easier!

@beherenow32- done a bit of clearing but got more to do! We've booked our antenatal classes too. It's all pretty exciting (and scary to think about the birth!)

How is everyone feeling? Are you 30+ weekers going to have any more scans? I'm considering paying for a wellbeing scan at 32 weeks.

cannonball8726 · 08/01/2019 22:53

Good to hear your GTT was fine, @theartfulscreamer!

Beherenow32 · 10/01/2019 16:07

@HJ82 did you handle the heat ok? My heart palpitations turned out to be a symptom of aneamia, so go and get checked. I’m on iron tablets now.

@cannonball8726 ante natal class was good. The labour part probably hasn’t sunk in yet, because I’m not feeling nervous so far...
I’m not going to pay for anymore scans. But I just had one at 28 weeks. Baby also so much bigger, so can’t see much of her now. I think you should get one if you have waited a while between scans though.

I’m struggling with 3rd trimester. So tired, sore, sick. Not sleeping well. 🙈🙈 but excited that it’s not too long until baby is here xx

HJ82 · 10/01/2019 16:32

@Beherenow32 interesting, my iron was 48 last year and I have been taking it plus floradix which has run out so I'll get some more. And get tested tomorrow 🙂 thanks! It was only 29 degrees everyday- was lush! Got a tan 😛 not much good to me mid winter but vitamin D helps! Not looking forward to the uncomfortable stage... 😬

HJ82 · 10/01/2019 16:36

@cannonball8726 it's was so amazing. My friend filmed me telling mum. ❤️ she sobbed for ages. She's the last out of her friends to be a granny 🙂 I'm happy we got there in the end. My Nan was the sweetest. She kept my favourite toys and the beautiful crochet outfit I came home from the hospital in, so that was a very special moment. It was super weird as many of my very close friends instinctively knew I was preggers. Bizarre.

CritterTamer · 10/01/2019 16:47

Hi all

Just checking in - good to hear that everyone is doing OK. I'm off work at the moment with a nasty sinus, throat and chest infection so feeling really poorly and down while waiting for the antibiotics to kick in. Just as I was starting to feel human again with the pg symptoms starting to settle down lol.

On the plus side we had a lovely scan on Xmas Eve, and went out shopping in the January sales and got a great deal on a Bugaboo Donkey 2 twin set up pram and some car seats so feeling very excited now. We've booked a private gender reveal scan for a week on Saturday so really looking forward to that.

Just in case you don't know, Aldi have a baby event on from today - dragged myself out of bed to get down there this morning and got loads of bits and bobs at fantastic prices - they have sleepsuits, vests, muslin cloths, sleep bags, bibs, dummies, high chairs, cellular blankets all at great prices 😊
