BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@Beherenow32 you must have been tiny to start with? I was only 62kgs but my tummy is and has always been fat 🤪 so not bub is pushing it out, I'm losing the hiding battle! We requested not to know the sex. 😬 I already have names for either so all good. Hoping for a girl 🤫 I suspect it will be, I mean this group are all girl baby bearers 🤗

Beherenow32 · 07/12/2018 19:22

@HJ82 that’s lovely that you kept it a surprise. I thought about that, but happy I know, as it’s helped me bond and make it more real.
Yeah, I was only 7 and a half stone before. My mum was that weight at the end of her pregnancy! So, prob taking after her.
When are you telling people? Just keep eating as healthy as you can, and the weight gain will be all baby 😊

I keep getting constant heart palpitations. But read online it’s normal? Will try and remember to mention to midwife next visit! Xx

HJ82 · 07/12/2018 19:37

@Beherenow32 it's common in pregnancy so don't fear. I actually get bad palpitations normally. I've had every heart test under the sun and they don't think it's serious although my father ended up with a pacemaker at 50, so I'm terrified 😬 and I read they're common in pregnancy so I'm going to try not to stress about it! How often you getting them? Did you ever notice any before? I eat super healthy but I've been really into vege bangers n mash and gravy. Not cool! 😂 we will probably cave in and want to know the sex later on. I know OH is a little bit keen to know, have you done the nursery yet?? When is your actual due date? We are going to tell FIL this weekend but no one else until I tell my family over Xmas 🙂

Beherenow32 · 07/12/2018 19:45

@HJ82 it is nice to hold out, as not many people do. Now, everyone knows we are having a girl and know what name we prefer already 🙈

I haven’t had palpitations since I gave up caffeine years ago. Today, at work, I had them pretty much constantly. Now, I’m in bed they have stopped...

Hopefully starting nursery after new year. Have picked up some paint samples. We will have had our 4d scan by then, so hopefully all ok there.
Do you have plans of when to start nursery?

Exciting to share the news soon! Xx

HJ82 · 08/12/2018 09:13

@Beherenow32 no nursery remember, just a spot in our room till we figure out how we will live in a bigger house cheaply 😂 I refuse to spend more then 600 a month on rent in London! It's such a joke! Our room is massive though! Plus side is I don't have to worry about any added costs. Just a crib and drawers 👍 what are you starting with? I'm still undecided about Moses basket or co-sleeper. I want something to last up to 6 months. Then I take my maternity leave on the road - chasing the sun 🙂

HJ82 · 08/12/2018 09:15

@CritterTamer I'm so sorry you're still feeling so rubbish!! It's so good that you can take some medication for the sickness though! Hope you feel better in 2nd trim!

Beherenow32 · 08/12/2018 14:30

@HJ82 sorry. I am so forgetful just now. I’m nearly in the third trimester and feel exhausted! I have a Moses basket which belonged to a family member. But have heard that they only last a few months... will probably need to think about a next to me crib, but then they only last a few months after that! Let me know if you see any nice ones x

HJ82 · 11/12/2018 21:06

@Beherenow32 my friends have used babybay and snuzpod. My friend is about to have her baby and will give me hers when done in 6 months. Perfect timing. I'm not sure if the brand, her friend just gave it to her lol. Musical bed 😂

CritterTamer · 12/12/2018 15:27

Hi everybody, hope you're all doing OK today!

Had my 12 week scan today - so relieved to have finally made it to this point! I'm actually only 11+6 today but babies are measuring 12+2 and 12+4 so doc was very happy 😊 had to pay for a private scan in the end as my midwives and hospital have been an utter shambles - booked my 12 week scan in for 16 weeks! After a week of arguing with them I managed to get it brought forward to 14 weeks which was the earliest they could do but have now lost the opportunity for any antenatal screening because of this.

Glad I did pay to get today's scan done though - felt lovely to be able to go into work afterwards and tell everyone 😊

Meant to add that babies were too big to focus both properly in one picture so they did a photo of the two sacs and then closer pics of each twin 😊

Beherenow32 · 12/12/2018 19:31

@CritterTamer that’s great. Everyone will be excited about your twin news!

I still have a small bump, but baby is feeling heavier, and back starting to hurt. I wonder if she is just tucked away inside somewhere 😂 4d scan is next week, so looking forward to that, and hoping everything is ok in there xx

Beherenow32 · 12/12/2018 19:44

@CritterTamer how have you been feeling? Any better? Xx

cannonball8726 · 12/12/2018 20:58

@crittertamer that's brilliant news! And amazing to see both sacs like that.

How is everyone? I'm feeling pretty tired now but think that's because I've been working pretty long hours!

When is everyone going on mat leave?

CritterTamer · 13/12/2018 06:14

Thanks all - yes feeling a little better now as the ohss has gone now 😊 still having a lot of dizzy/faint spells and nausea together with exhaustion but it is gradually getting less 😊

HJ82 · 13/12/2018 11:38

@cannonball8726 I'm weirdly still feeling great. I have sooo much energy. I'm waiting for it to hit me still.. i really hope it doesn't. I'm swimming everyday and doing Pilates only Saturdays. Getting too costly. Must reduce costs!! 😬 into 2nd trimester now. I'm sure the exhaustion will hit me as baby gets bigger. Nervous about my long term disc injury flaring up later on. Hope you get some down time!! Taking a chunk off for Xmas? I'm flying next week! 27hrs 😞 I have every comfort travel accessory known to man. 😛

@CritterTamer very happy the ohss has cleared. And hope you'll feel your normal self soon. They say 2nd trimester you should start to feel better.

Beherenow32 · 13/12/2018 13:26

@HJ82 wow you’re like superwoman doing all that! I’m still going to work and moving around, but when I can rest I’m doing mainly that!

@cannonball8726 yes! I’m tired. Went to sleep at 8:30 last night. Although I did wake up about 4 times to pee. I’ve managed to get half days the next two days, so I’m resting in the afternoons!

I will start maternity leave on the 4th of March. But I have taken 2 weeks annual leave before- so finishing on 18th of February. It is earlier than I first thought. But I cant wait. Will use time to get all her things sorted, pack hospital bag, and do more resting! Lol have you thought about when you will start maternity? Xx

HJ82 · 16/12/2018 17:41

I'm not sure if this is related to the pregnancy but it's driving me insane! My bottom lip is pulsating/twitching like crazy. 😞 must stay away from google 😳

Beherenow32 · 16/12/2018 18:16

@HJ82 maybe to do with the extra blood flowing through the body?
I’ve been getting heart palpitations and nose bleeds which I’m putting down to this reason xx

HJ82 · 16/12/2018 19:11

@Beherenow32 that sucks! Nose bleeds are more common at this time of year too, probably doubling your chances of suffering. I get them from the cold. The skin on my face is awful right now! Def no glow here! I'm hoping 3 weeks in the sun/sea will sort me out as bit. I'm all dry and bumpy from these hormones 😬

Beherenow32 · 16/12/2018 19:46

@HJ82 I never have them. But you’re right with the cold weather and hormones. My skin is dry and blotchy too. The sun will help! Lots of vitamin d good for you and baby.

I can feel baby rolling around. It’s actually a little sore! Midwife appointment this week and 4d scan! Nervous and excited!

Hope all good xx

Beherenow32 · 19/12/2018 12:02

Just had to run into a shop before work, to buy trousers. None of mine for me. Belly has expanded overnight 🙈

How is everyone? X

cannonball8726 · 20/12/2018 08:13

@beherenow32 haha amazing. How many weeks are you now? Feeling okay?

I'm 24 weeks and tired! Been working long hours and socialising loads too. Really looking forward to the break over Christmas!

Beherenow32 · 20/12/2018 18:32

@cannonball8726 I’m 28 weeks tomorrow, and measuring 28 weeks today (had midwife). I’m doing ok. But feeling really sore now. I’m so lucky to get a couple of weeks off over Xmas.

You will be feeling tired too. Can’t believe you’re 24 weeks. It’s going fast! Hope you get a decent break too xx

cannonball8726 · 20/12/2018 18:48

@beherenow32 can't believe you're in the third trimester! Although our cycle in the summer feels so long ago now. Any ideas on names? How's your prep going? Think will probably start nesting over the Christmas period! Need to clear out our spare room.

How's everyone else getting on?

Beherenow32 · 20/12/2018 19:02

@cannonball8726 I know! After Xmas I only have 6 weeks left at work!! Uhm, wouldn’t say I was prepared yet. We have the buggy and lots of clothes. Hoping to get nursery decorated in January.
It was so nice hearing the heartbeat today. Making it seem a little more real again! We do have one name, yes. Although I’m still open to looking at names, DH is set on one. 😂

When are you next at midwife? Have you bought anything yet? Xx
