BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

Yay @beanhunter, what superb news. All fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you to hold on. What a little fighter! :-)

Sorry I'm quiet on here atm. Been away with work which completely knackered me out. Spent most of bank holiday sleeping!

@beanhunter - glad the scan was reassuring! When is your next scan?

Hope the rest of you are okay, ladies. Trying to keep myself distracted but it's so hard not to think about pregnancy and be consumed by anxiety! Any tips?

The good news is I had a coffee as a treat today - been caffeine-free for a while - and it made me feel nauseated! Makes it easier to stay away from the flat whites...

@beanhunter so happy for you. Hope you can rest up now x

@cannonball8726 I’m struggling with headaches the last few days, and today is a bad one.
I still worry. But that last scan I had at 9.5 weeks, did help me. I sleep a lot too!
I’m glad you managed to enjoy a treat.... even if it was followed by feeling sick! Seems like you’re getting symptoms of strong hormones xx

@beanhunter
Yes rest up, take time off to just relax you definitely deserve it! So glad you still have your little embryo fighting away .

@Beherenow32
Iv had headaches too i reluctantly take paracetamol if i get a bad one but try not to, thankfully they are not that frequent.

Every day is still a bonus you just can never completely 'relax' but we can all keep positive and take it easy we have been through a lot Confused

@beanhunter You must be shattered after events of past 48 hours. I hope you had an amazing sleep!

@beherenow32 I guess the worry is inevitable. Yesterday morning I was in tears as my breast tenderness has completely gone. And while I had horrible nausea last week, I hadn't had much for preceding couple of days. I totally panicked. The objective part of me knows that symptoms can fluctuate, that a significant proportion of women don't get much in the way of symptoms anyway, and that change in symptoms may mean absolutely nothing - and ultimately there is nothing I can do to change the outcome of this pregnancy so should stop worrying and go with the flow. But yesterday, rational thought went out of the window and I flipped! It took me by surprise as I haven't had a meltdown like that for a long time. My husband was lovely.

As @itonlytakesone said - we have been through a lot. This is the furthest I have been - have never had a BFP, have never even had a late period. I just need to take some comfort from the current situation and chill the F out Wink

Sending a virtual warm decaf beverage and chocolate to you all during these tricky weeks! Best of luck with upcoming scans @Tigerlily99 and @beherenow32 (I think you said yours is this week?) xx

@cannonball8726

Don't worry about those symptoms fluctuating, I had a solid week of really bad nausea (week 9-10) then magically all of my pregnancy symptoms completely stopped the next day? Two days rest from it then it came back but not as bad it's just now lurking in the background. Behere reassured me about this and she was right so i wasn't worrying on those two days just enjoyed it! Smile

@cannonball8726 @Itonlytakesone I feel like hormones play a big part in our worrying and emotions too! I’ve cried because I feel so awful. And cried when the symptoms aren’t quite as bad. 😅

My scan is in a couple of hours. Can feel my stomach stretching like crazy. 🤞 xx

@cannonball8726 thank you! Scan went well and baby is measuring a day ahead- 11 weeks 6 days. Going to try relax now, and take advantage of being able to eat again.

All the best for everyone else xx

Hope your scan has gone well @beherenow32 !

My morning sickness has finally kicked in today and yesterday (7+5 weeks). So relived as was starting to question if I was even pregnant anymore! That said, I'm happy any time this particular symptom wants to do one! (and then I'll worry Grin - no peace for any of us!).

Hang in there ladies! Flowers

On a totally different note - anyone watching Bake Off? Turns out I am really not repelled at all by the thought of baked goods, especially wagon wheels! yum!

Brilliant, @beherenow32! Great to hear Grin

@gingergnome I'm not off cake either! Thankfully. Wink I have found Pukka peppermint tea (Mint Refresh) is good for the nausea.

Hi all. Still spotting here. Mostly brown which is ok but still some red. Especially after I vomit which is stressful. Guess it’s just a waiting game now. And I’m not very good at waiting!
Also bed rest is pretty dull. Thank goodness for Netflix.

Itonlytakesone · 29/08/2018 15:28

@beanhunter
Glad you are on bed rest you need to be careful, you maybe just one of these people that bleed throughout pregnancy and we never know why? But go on to have a healthy baby 👶🏻😊. Rest!!

@Beherenow32
Brilliant on the scan you can start to relax you are doing ok! Baby is super healthy then!

@cannonball8726
Talking about cakes Iv had a sweet tooth throughout this pregnancy so far is there an old wives tale about that? Iv heard you may be carrying a girl?🙊if you have a sweet tooth...need to start watching the bake off.

So it's my scan bright and early tomorrow morning I'm nervous really nervous 😬 this is a private 11 week scan. I'll let you all know how that goes. In the afternoon I'm wedding dress 👰🏼shopping (booked an appointment) so obviously this depends how the scan goes...

@TheArtfulScreamer
Good luck for your scan on Monday too!

@Itonlytakesone what a lovely day for you tomorrow!! Enjoy it all.

Can’t decide what to do about telling people in work.... do I wait for the blood test result for downs...
or just tell them? I feel so awful I know that I’m going to struggle in work. It might be easier if people know

Really wish maternity leave started as soon as you knew you were pregnant

@beanhunter what a worry for you! The scan showed everything was ok, so I would try keep that in your thoughts xx

@Itonlytakesone- good luck tomorrow!!

@beherebow32- amazing news on the scan results!

@beanhunter- oh my goodness you’ve been through the works! So glad that scan showed a lovely HB and no more big bleeding. Fingers crossed for the rest of pregnancy being less eventful! When is your next scan?

Can I ask you ladies what level of morning sickness you have. I’m slightly worried my symptoms are fairly mild. I’ve only been getting mildly queasy and for short periods of time only. Not enough to stop me stuffing my face and no vomiting at all. Stupidly I read something about women who have morning sickness have a much lower rate of miscarriage and it’s worried me now! Next scan is Fri and this will be last scan from fertility clinic. Will have to work out how to get myself into antenatal care afterwards (if scan is ok). X

Next scan next weds.
Tigerlily don’t get sucked in. I had hyperemesis (as in the worst kind) last time. I was admitted to hospital 3 times for fluids. I still lost the baby at 12 weeks.
Most people have v little and have very normal pregnancies. Please don’t stress about that. When is your scan?

Report
Beherenow32 · 29/08/2018 18:41

@Tigerlily99 I was never actually sick. I felt sick all the time, and like I was on the verge of throwing up. It got worse when I needed to eat.
But I know loads of people who have barely even felt sick! It just seems so random. I don’t think you need to worry about it. (Even though we worry about everything!) xxx
