BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@cannonball8726 I feel like daily life is enough of a workout! 😴 I do have an active job tho. This week I’ve been exhausted and my legs hurt!
I know I’m a bit bigger, and in some clothes I have an obvious bump. But I do still feel quite small. Still early though I suppose. Trying my hardest not to just keep going for scans lol.

@CritterTamer are you still getting symptoms of OHHS? That must be so hard along with the pregnancy symptoms too xx

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 18:14

@cannonball8726 I'm just doing Pilates. I need to get in the pool. I'm just so exhausted all the time. Maybe in the 2nd trimester I'll have more energy (so they say) right? 😂 so important to have strong core though! So I'm def not budging with the Pilates routine I have.

Beherenow32 · 02/11/2018 18:52

@HJ82 do you go to Pilates classes? I think I would like to do it, but would prefer to just do it at home! You’re energy will prob pick up a little bit, but still feel exhausted 😂 xx

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 18:52

@crittertamer I wouldn't worry about lack of exercise at moment. Just focus on your recovery. Are the OHSS symptoms easing? Still can't believe you're having twins! First in the thread :)

@beherenow32 it's not early :) how many weeks are you now? 2.5 weeks until 20 week scan for me. So hard not to stop worrying!

@HJ82 I still haven't gone back to Pilates. Really need to! Haven't been for about 6 weeks now. Going to start pregnancy yoga too when I can make it to a class!

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 18:54

@HJ82 Yeah I'm feeling much more lively in second trimester. In the first trimester I felt like going to sleep as soon as I got home from work...! Have you had any sickness?

Itonlytakesone · 02/11/2018 18:58

@CritterTamer
Aww so cute you saying the babies that's so sweet!!

@HJ82
Fantastic news well done getting yourself seen and now you can relax rest put your feet up, all those jobs can be done by everyone else! You need to protect your baby aww so pleased all was ok 😊

Iv been out to buy pink cakes 🎀🍰 to take into work tomorrow so continuing my gender reveal.. We did a video popping balloons to send around yesterday, sent it at an exact time so everyone could tune in, it was so lovely & special 💖.

I'm at the stage where I'm eating everything in sight I'm probably getting much bigger than i should be 🙈I'm only a 10/12 normally but craving sweet foods. Iv got to get in a wedding dress in less than a month! It's getting tailored around me so i guess I'm ok as Iv not had the fitting yet although after it will be strictly no cake!😆

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 19:47

@Itonlytakesone I'm hungry as too! For stodgy carbs. I've been a vegan most of my life so it's going to be interesting with the cravings! Which of cause I have 0 so far. I'll probably crave cake! At least I do have cake options these days, not so much back in the day! I'm obsessed with cleaning and decorating etc so I very much doubt someone else will do these things to my standard or level of obsession 😂

@cannonball8726 my friend said she couldn't push out her baby as she had no abdominal muscles 😮 so I'm pretty focused on that, lol! I'm not really sick. I've def had a good amount of nausea every day around 1030am but nothing crazy. Yet haha. I have a very weak stomach normally, so we will see!

@Beherenow32 there are loads of pregnancy Pilates classes around, you should def sign up 🙂 or try at home for sure. Pilates is very slow and calming yet effective! Important to do the exercises correctly though or it doesn't work. So I'd suggest doing classes with a teacher before taking it in at home. They're very attentive and make sure you're in the correct position for maximum gain 💕

TheArtfulScreamer · 02/11/2018 19:57

Good news on the scan HJ82.
Jealous of those mentioning small bumps as I feel huge and it's not so much a bump as a total stomache expansion from left to right and boobs to pubes. I've also only got 2 bras that I can fit my ever increasing melons in. If it's true that you can't push out a baby without abdominal muscles then I'm well and truly screwed. Still it's all in a good cause and I'll worry about my changed body shape next year, I live in the countryside so can soon get out for some good long walks with the baby in the summer Grin

Beherenow32 · 02/11/2018 19:58

@cannonball8726 I’m 21 weeks today lol. I want a big proper bump! 😂 I’m def rounder tho. Bet you can’t wait for your scan.

@HJ82 I’ll have a look into that, thanks. There’s a leisure centre near my work, but the times of pregnancy classes were no good 😔

@Itonlytakesone I’ve been craving sweets and cake! And I don’t usually have a sweet tooth. Aww, you’ll look so lovely in your wedding dress with a little bump/ belly 😁 xx

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 20:00

@TheArtfulScreamer I'm sure she was exaggerating 😂 but good to be in ok shape I guess. After not sleeping for a day etc etc I'm not sure how anyone finds the energy for the final part of labour! But we do!! 🙂 powerful. How long have you got to go??

Itonlytakesone · 02/11/2018 21:29

@HJ82
Oh no i too am well & truly screwed Iv no stomach muscles either! I'll never get her out glad I'm not the only one who hasn't though 🙈.

@Beherenow32
Thanks aww I'm going for a tight figure hugging dress in the stomach area to show my baby off to the world 🌎 my little miracle 🎀.

@TheArtfulScreamer
Know what you mean about melons, Iv had to get properly measured for a bra it's so much nicer having a bra that fits! Took 40 minutes to get measured and find one.

Did i read on here some of you have a low placenta? I found out i have too and I'm getting scanned again at 32 weeks. They didn't seem too concerned though?😳I'm like oh no!

Beherenow32 · 03/11/2018 00:01

@Itonlytakesone quite right. You and baby bump will look amazing.
Btw, I had a low placenta at my 16 week scan, by the time I was scanned again 19 weeks- it moved. Most of the time it moves as baby grows. Good luck xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 03/11/2018 10:55

HJ82 I'm 21 weeks currently, my DH tells me I'm not that massive but I think I'm just very conscious of it as I've struggled with my weight my whole adult life and lost 5 stone so I was eligible for IVF. But I do feel confident that having lost that weight once if I put a couple of stone on during pregnancy it's not the end of the world and me and baby can work it off together in the summer.
Itonlytakes I'm in Leeds next month so I might have to bite the bullet and go and get properly measured again at Bravissimo, I wouldn't mind but I had a lot of bigger bras from when I was bigger but when I lost weight I gave them to charity, if I'd have kept them they'd have come in again now.

cannonball8726 · 03/11/2018 16:33

@itonlytakesone and @theartfulscreamer my boobs have grown a lot. I've always had big boobs but even bigger now. I normally buy my bras from Bravissimo and got measured up there last week - it took an hour for fitting and finding a bra! 😂 Also bought a new sports bra. I'm so much more comfortable now!

Beherenow32 · 06/11/2018 20:35

Think I need talking down.. worrying again and wanting to book another scan 😣 had our nhs scan less than 3 weeks ago! Have been feeling quite a bit of movement. Some really big kicks last night- but not as much today. I know I’m being daft. I have an anterior placenta too- so won’t always feel it. Still can’t wait for more regular ones and a real bump!

How is everyone else?? When are people thinking of buying things? I want to start picking up things, but not mot everything all at once! Will prob wait until January really. Hope everyone ok. Xxx

HJ82 · 06/11/2018 20:56

@Beherenow32 try not to worry!! My SIL couldn't feel hers for 12hrs but she was totally fine. They sleep a lot too right? Easier said then done. I'm a natural worrier so I'll probably be the same later on.
Have you had a flu jab?

Has anyone else had the flu shot? I'm so worried about having it so early on. Midwife said it's fine but I'm just scared. Did you all wait till after 12 weeks? I've never had a flu or the shot so I'm apprehensive but I know it's better to be safe right?

Beherenow32 · 06/11/2018 21:22

@HJ82 thank you. I know, she is still small.

I had my flu jab around 17 weeks, and got it the same time as the whooping cough jag. But that was in October, and I think they just started flu jabs then? I had no reaction at all. Not even a sore arm. I’ve had it a few times before and never had a reaction before. I think it’s prob safer than you actually getting the flu! But you could speak to midwife about not your concerns xx

CritterTamer · 06/11/2018 22:49

@HJ82 - my doctor called me up for my flu shot because I have asthma, when I asked they said absolutely fine to have so early in pregnancy. I double checked with my IVF clinic and they said exactly the same so I’m having mine on Saturday.

HJ82 · 07/11/2018 13:23

Did everyone do the Carbon monoxide test with midwife? Mine had a high reading 😱 I'm not stressed out about it but just wonder, is London that polluted that as a non smoker my CO level is the same!? Insane. Best get a mask lol

Beherenow32 · 07/11/2018 15:47

@HJ82 Is that the same test for cigarettes? I think I did. I remember feeling nervous even though I don’t smoke haha. Was a low reading tho xx

HJ82 · 07/11/2018 15:52

@Beherenow32 yep the device you blow into. Apparently they test it as routine. I'm so angry that mine was high. I know this city is disgusting but now I'm slightly uneasy about the level of toxic air. As this is proof it's so bad! I cycle too so I'll stop that! Apparently just walking down a busy road increases your levels drastically. With high levels of CO your blood carry's less oxygen and therefore less Oxygen to baby. 😟

cannonball8726 · 07/11/2018 22:50

@HJ82 Air pollution in London worries me too, especially during pregnancy. I try and walk through less busy streets where possible. It's really scary - respiratory diseases, preterm birth and low birth weight are all associated with exposure to air pollution during pregnancy :(

@beherenow32 hope you're feeling less worried about the movements. When did you start to feel them? I'm 18 weeks and haven't noticed anything :(

Beherenow32 · 08/11/2018 07:40

@cannonball8726 thank you. Think there will always be a bit of worry with us, no matter what! I feel them so much more when lying down. Well, I first had a bubble popping feeling around 8/9 weeks and my first “kick” feeling at 14 weeks. But I know that’s not the norm. I have an anterior placenta too- so surprised mine started early. My friend didn’t feel anything until 22 weeks. So, don’t worry just yet. I think we are meant to keep track of movement later on.

Xx

HJ82 · 08/11/2018 08:17

@cannonball8726 I'm wondering if I should just do some oxygen therapy here and there.

TheArtfulScreamer · 08/11/2018 13:05

Cannon I didn't feel what I was certain was movement until 19 weeks and my placenta is at the back so I can't blame that, my little one just obviously had plenty of room up until that point. Now that I know it's movement I feel it all the time and my DH felt it for the first time last night. For me it feels like a little pulse or twitch.
