BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

Crazy glad your scan went ok it's such a relief after that first scan when you see the heartbeat.

CritterTamer · 31/10/2018 13:22

I’ve had a rough couple of days with the OHSS so my clin8nc called me in for a scan to check up on it. They’ve just confirmed a definite twin pregnancy! Two yolk sacs each with a perfect foetus measuring exactly 6 weeks ( I’m 5+6 today) and 2 fluttering heart beats seen! I’m in total shock.....

TheArtfulScreamer · 31/10/2018 13:33

Congratulations twice the fun to prepare for. Hope your OHSS settles down though it can't be much fun for you at the moment.

Crazyeyes3 · 31/10/2018 17:33

Congratulations @crittertamer!

Beherenow32 · 31/10/2018 18:20

@crittertamer wow!! Congrats! Xx

cannonball8726 · 31/10/2018 18:21

Brilliant news on your scans, @crazyeyes3 and @crittertamer. How are you both feeling? Hope the OHSS settles soon, @crittertamer. Is it still really bad?

Best of luck for your 20 week scan tomorrow @itonlytakesone!

I'm 17 weeks now. We have told people in the past couple of weeks. It is so unnerving!

GemmeFatale · 31/10/2018 18:25

@crazyeyes3 I’m so glad I saw this pop up. I’m bloody delighted for you

GemmeFatale · 31/10/2018 18:25

@crittertamer congratulations

Itonlytakesone · 31/10/2018 20:34

@cannonball8726
Thanks I'll let you know how we get on! Not long until yours!

@CritterTamer
Wow amazing twins so gorgeous that's really made me smile what a miracle! (s) 😊😊

@Crazyeyes3

Congratulations on your scan I'm so glad it went well it's such a relief.

HJ82 · 01/11/2018 13:15

@CritterTamer wow, double congratulations to you!!

How is everyone else?

I'm starting to get nausea more now. I also have dull cramps really low down. Today I actually have very light pink mucus. Minor freak out. But I know it's very common (also had sex a couple of days ago so I'm hoping it's just from that). Argh I just hope it's nothing 😞 this whole 1st trimester is so touch and go. Anyone else have any kind of spotting during the first few months? First apt with midwife Monday. No scan till 26th... so far away!

TheArtfulScreamer · 01/11/2018 15:27

Just before my 7 week scan and a week later just before my booking in appt I had 2 occasions of brown spotting I spoke to the midwife and she said it would likely be implantation bleeding as the placenta took root so I would think a bit of pink spotting will likely be the same.

Itonlytakesone · 01/11/2018 18:00

@HJ82
Try not to worry it sounds like it was a very small amount and has stopped now I'm sure. Likely because of the sex!🙊 I had the odd bit because of that at about 13 weeks, i was petrified like you that id ruined everything but nothing more happened and everything was just fine!

Iv just had my 20 week scan today. My little girl (miracle!) is doing just fine I'm really pleased

Itonlytakesone · 01/11/2018 18:03

@HJ82
Sorry not at 12 weeks - at 12 days post transfer so really early on I had a bit of slight blood. Nothing since

HJ82 · 01/11/2018 18:07

@Itonlytakesone wonderful news! I'm actually getting strong cramps in and off now. I've booked in for a scan tomorrow to ease my mind!

Itonlytakesone · 01/11/2018 18:33

@HJ82
Great that will put your mind at rest. I had cramps at 5 weeks i was so worried but all was ok. It could just be your digestive system but it's so hard to tell the difference. I rested loads when i had mine so get into bed and put your feet up. The clinic told me it could be your body's way of saying you're doing too much rest

cannonball8726 · 01/11/2018 21:13

@itonlytakesone aww brilliant, I'm glad the scan went well!

@HJ82 good luck for your scan tomorrow. I had cramps too, I'm sure it's nothing. How many weeks are you now?

Looking pretty pregnant now! Ordered some maternity clothes yesterday.

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 09:04

@cannonball8726 thanks love. I'm 7+5 it's just like AF pains only milder. I know I have some scar tissue and I was putting it down to that but I'm so worried a MC is imminent 😔 im trying to stay calm. I've read some women's comments and they had AF pains the entire 1st Trimester 😩 it making it difficult to concentrate on work or anything else!

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 13:44

@HJ82 I am still getting the odd period type cramps. Have you had your scan yet? Hope it went okay.

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 14:58

@cannonball8726 yes it was perfectly normal 😅 there's a real baby in there!!! Considering I get the worst period cramps I'm sure my uterus going the other way will cause me grief. I have scar tissue too. It's hard not to worry but I'm so glad I got the scan. I couldn't have held out till 10 weeks.

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 16:13

Brilliant @HJ82. I'm glad things are okay :) I had a scan at 10 weeks for the Harmony test too and it was lovely to see as a lot had changed between my 8 and 10 week scan! Glad you got some reassurance.

CritterTamer · 02/11/2018 16:49

Great news @HJ82 that must be such a relief 😊

HJ82 · 02/11/2018 16:54

@cannonball8726 I'm looking forward to seeing the difference between 7-10 weeks. Still having a tiny bit of pink mucus but I'm not gonna stress about this. And as @Itonlytakesone says, should rest. I'm always doing strenuous things around the house 🙄 I can't help it! So you have a considerable bump now? That's so lovely!

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 17:27

@HJ82 I have a bump... I'm quite small so it's becoming pretty obvious! Really need to buy some maternity jeans but can't be bothered to go shopping 😂 did an ASOS order a couple of days ago but I wasn't feeling their petite jeans! Work clothes has been hard. I normally wear well fitting dresses and none of them fit now apart from a couple of shift dresses!

Take it easy - don't overdo things!

Anyone's fitness just crap now? I'm still working out but can't do much at all!

cannonball8726 · 02/11/2018 17:28

Work clothes have been hard, even!

So glad it's Friday. My brain is fried!

CritterTamer · 02/11/2018 18:02

@Cannonball8726 - oh yes! I haven’t been able to work out since I started stimming at the end of September. I’m still banned because of the OHSS (and i can see why as even just slowly walking about I can feel my ovaries bouncing) but to be honest I feel so nauseous and exhausted all of the time that even the thought of exercise is horrific! I:m starting to worry the inactivity is bad for the babies but not sure what else to do.
