BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

That's good news Bean at least that's some relief for you today.
Congrats Cannon on your little girl, I wonder if Behere will make it a hat trick.

Beherenow32 · 30/09/2018 13:16

It’s a girl!!!
So happy. They looked great on the scan. I’ve never felt as happy as I did when I saw her wriggling around

Good news @beanhunter

Xx

cannonball8726 · 30/09/2018 14:56

@beanhunter glad it was okay. Is the sickness any better? Hope you're able to get home soon.

Thanks @TheArtfulScreamer!

@beherenow32 congrats! Another little girl Smile you and @theartfulscreamer were right! Lovely to hear she was wriggling around!

Itonlytakesone · 30/09/2018 17:15

@Beherenow32 another little girl!! Wow we are all having girlys 💞💞💞 I knew your symptoms sounded the same as mine! Aww congratulations to you and @beanhunter

TheArtfulScreamer · 30/09/2018 20:01

Aww behere, bloody knew it your hubby was right from day one, think I'll just concentrate on thinking of boys names Grin

Beherenow32 · 30/09/2018 20:22

@TheArtfulScreamer crazy how the instincts are right!! I was doubting it last night tho... didn’t have a clue. You’re going to imagine a boy you’re whole pregnancy now! 😁

snowfee · 01/10/2018 10:55

Not sure if I need to worry, I've been having AF type cramps each day since transfer (2 weeks and 3 days ago). Today they changed to a dull ache. Is this bad news?

TheArtfulScreamer · 01/10/2018 12:24

Behere I've been convinced of boy and birthday of the 15th March since ET so I don't think I'll be swayed until it comes out and if it has girl parts it'll be even more of a lovely surprise luckily we've no gender preferences so it doesn't matter either way.
Snow you'll get all sorts of odd aches and pains as things settle down and start happening, I sometimes get pains on a night that could easily be mistaken for ovulation or period pains. Try not to worry to much unless pain is accompanied by bleeding.

Beherenow32 · 01/10/2018 14:20

@TheArtfulScreamer I know. I was just so happy to see a little baby on the screen. But feel like this makes it more real for us. Might help with bonding, for me. But obv everyone is different. It’s all amazing whatever choice you make! 😊 all ready excited for my next scan in 2 weeks lol.

@snowfee the symptom spotting doesn’t stop after the positive test! But you will feel all sorts of cramps, tension and pain. But if it feels too intense, tell the midwife/ hospital xx

snowfee · 01/10/2018 15:52

Thanks @Beherenow32 and @TheArtfulScreamer
I'm pleased to say there is no bleeding just less pain (feels odd to say I'm worried about not being in pain!!)

Beherenow32 · 01/10/2018 19:37

I keep getting cramp in my legs 😣 it’s worse at night. So sore! X

Runner31 · 02/10/2018 06:39

Hi, I've been lurking for a little bit and your positivity has got me to the stage of 6 + 4 after my first ivf fresh 5dt. Only now I'm more worried than I've ever been. Last week I felt awful. Lots of cramps, not painful just constant and totally exhausted. This week everything seems to have eased off and it's terrifying me. Our clinic doesn't do blood tests so I have my 7 week scan on Friday but this is the most nervous I've been. I can't help but think the lack of symptoms this week is a bad sign 😔

cannonball8726 · 02/10/2018 08:11

@snowfee I had cramps and twinges too. I wouldn't be worried unless the pain is marked or associated with pain. Not long now until your scan.

@runner31 congratulations! My kept coming and going which I found worrying but think it's pretty normal. Try not to worry (easier said than done - and I spend plenty of time worrying too!). Not long until Friday at all. Best of luck!

@beherenow32 that sucks! Hope the cramps ease - or you could try some tonic water.

I'm sick. Got a cold, sore throat and fever. Staying home today!

Oops, I must be sick. Previous post was meant to say:

Beherenow32 · 02/10/2018 10:21

@Runner31 think we all felt the same as you. I worried about symptoms.. well, lack of. Then they hit me suddenly at 7 weeks when I had my scan. It’s a terrifying time. Just try relax as much as poss.

@cannonball8726 it’s horrendous feeling so ill. Look after yourself. I hate tonic water, but could maybe try with some orange juice! Thanks for the tip.

Xx

Itonlytakesone · 02/10/2018 12:19

I just threw up 🤮 for the first time. I'm horrified.
How long do you wait before attempting to eat again?
Iv been on anti nausea tablets but i didn't take one last night - thought i was better by now...I'm not!😞

beanhunter · 02/10/2018 12:23

Eat when hungry and take the tablets if they work for you.

TheArtfulScreamer · 02/10/2018 13:00

@Runner I nearly had a flown blown panic attack in the waiting room for my 7 week scan and was absolutely terrified, when I was having the scan and she confirmed a heaetbeat I burst into tears. It's a daunting time and after every hurdle you'll think I'll feel better after ...... currently I'm on I'll feel more relaxed after the 20 week scan but I'm sure the goal posts will move again. Good luck for Friday.

Beherenow32 · 02/10/2018 19:33

@Itonlytakesone I’ve felt like I’m back in the first trimester! Neusea, tired, emotional etc etc. Not as far as being sick tho 😔 hope it eases off for you xx

CatRen27 · 04/10/2018 01:46

Hi all, nervously joining this thread. I'm 4 weeks today. I got my bfp on 5dp5dt and lines have been getting stronger each day. I'll be going in for my blood test tomorrow so hopefully that all goes well. It was our first try through FET, so feeling lucky to even have got to this point. We have a 3yo dd so this would be number 2.

Any tips on what happens next with the process from your experience? I know they'll do bloods again two days later, but then how often? And when have you had your scans?

Best of luck everyone, can't believe we're all here.

Runner31 · 04/10/2018 06:28

Congratulations @Catren27! I'm afraid I can't be much use. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and getting my scan tomorrow. Our clinic don't give blood tests after a bfp. I've been on progesterone since egg collection and will stay on it for another couple of weeks if all goes well tomorrow. I have regular panic over whether or not I'm still pregnant but did feel really sick all of yesterday and this morning. I'm my usual exhausted and my boobs are back to hurting.
I hope everything goes well with your blood tests. X

snowfee · 04/10/2018 07:38

Hi @CatRen27! Good to see you over on this board!!!
When I told my clinic about my BFP they booked me in for a scan in a few weeks time, I'll be 7w5 at that point. No blood tests for me either, just keeping with the progesterone gel (getting fed up of it now, really want to be drug free but I know it's all for the right reasons. )
Most of my cramping has gone but been replaced by sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen every now and then.
POAS again yesterday for reassurance, still BFP Smile. Don't think that will be the last time I do that test though!

CatRen27 · 04/10/2018 14:04

Thanks @runner31!

And hello @snowfee!! I'm also pretty pleased to be here! Im glad you're getting nice bfps still, I'm pretty sure I'll keep on testing too. My clinic only do bloods (tomorrow) to confirm pregnancy, then again on Sunday to check the increase in hcg. I'm going to ask if they can tell me the sex, as they did the chromosomal testing so they should know surely! Eek. Sorry you're in pain, that's rubbish. Ive got sore boobs and general cramps but I remember the cramps from last time and find it weirdly reassuring that stuff is happening. I'm on progesterone pessaries (ugh) and have to stay on them i think until 12 weeks so there goes our sex life..!

CatRen27 · 05/10/2018 06:29

Sorry to hijack the thread. I had my blood results in today and they're inconclusive, so think i might have jumped the gun in joining. Hcg levels are at 36 which is definitely low, although progesterone is high. Back in on Monday for the second lot of bloods. Urgh.
