Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Oh and also @Iqra786 are you still have your bloods done on Friday? I will in theory will only be 2dpo so suspect the progesterone levels are going to be low whether I've ovulated or not this cycle. My consultant doesn't budge on when the CD21 bloods are taken on though as on average my cycles are 28 days here or there

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 18:50

@twiglet2353 yes I have bloods on Friday ☺️ Tbh I think I have ovulated This cycle because I've had camping which I've never had before I only have cramping when on my period.. Also I've had quite a bit of EWCM this month too just a shame that the clear blue doesn't reflect this.. I've also read that testing with the clear blue both in the evening and morning can mess with the readings and some days I've been testing morning and night :/

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 18:52

@Iqra786 have you done any cheapy OPKs to see what the look like? I think I'm going to revert back to them next cycle if this one is unsuccessful. But it will be successful because I'm channelling a positive mental attitude this month! Grin

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 19:14

@twiglet2353 I used them up until CD 14 when the lines began to get darker and then started to use the clear blue only.. I have none left now :(

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 19:19

@twiglet2353 I am in the same frame of mind positive thoughts only! Plus we will know by Monday for sure if we ovulated or not 😬

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 19:36

@Iqra786 I'm not sure I will though if my levels are being taken on 2dpo. In a way it would be good to repeat them a week today and compare, but then I start bleeding a few days later so my progesterone is obviously never high enough to sustain a lining for an embryo to implant.

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 19:36

Out of interest does anyone know the levels that progesterone should be in each day of luteal phase?

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 19:43

@twiglet2353 I'm thinking about getting monitored privately next cycle with ultrasounds ect then I'll have better idea of what's going on

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 19:47

@Iqra786 I'm really very keen to do this, but I know at my local ivf unit it's £460 per cycle of clomid to monitor... Confused

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 20:00

@twiglet2353 at my local clinic its £190 for the first consultation and then £90 for each ultrasound

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 20:05

@Iqra786 I'll maybe ask the fertility clinic when I get my results if they're not good. When will you get your results? My unit reopens 2nd Jan

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 20:26

@twiglet2353 I will get them on Monday

This may be a stupid question but if clomid doesn't work what options are left? And with IVF if someone has not ovulated on clomid How will they ovulate to have the treatment

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 20:42

@Iqra786 I think the plan would be to move to injectables, with ultrasound monitoring to assess if dosages need to be increased or decreased x

Twiglet2353 · 26/12/2018 20:43

@Iqra786 I don't know if this is then timed with an IUI or left to spontaneously conceive. "The next step" hasn't been spoken about in detail with my consultant, he just refers to it if we don't respond to Clomid over the next couple of cycles x

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 20:47

@twiglet2353 hopefully we won't have to go to the next stage

Clarence58 · 26/12/2018 21:00

What level of monitoring is everyone having? My consultant said that in an ideal world they’d scan everyone but they don’t have the resources. So I just get my day 21 bloods every month. If my progesterone is under 30, they’ll up my dose of clomid by 50 every month until I’m on the maximum dose

What’s people’s verdicts on cheapy OPKs vs the fancier clear blue ones. So far Iv been doing the cheap ones and sometimes Iv had a strong second line. I’m wondering whether not to bother with them at all and just follow the advice of having sex every other day from about day 10 onwards. My husband works away two weeks a month and is then at home for two weeks. Fortunately it times well with my cycle though

Clarence58 · 26/12/2018 21:01

@Iqra786 my consultant said that if this didn’t work then it would be IUI then IVF. But she didn’t really say much more than that. I’m just hoping this works for now

Iqra786 · 26/12/2018 21:04

@clarence58 I hope so too praying for everyone on this thread

Somarch · 27/12/2018 08:05

@Clarence58 I have scans every month, would rather the blood test to be honest 🤦🏼‍♀️ God knows how many people (medical professionals) have been up there this year!! I bought OPKs from amazon. Think it was a pack of 500 of the strip ones & not had any problems with them! Think it was £10 for the lot! Begrudge paying sooooo much money for the clear blue pregnancy & ovulation tests as I’m not guaranteed to ovulate!xx

juneybean · 27/12/2018 12:23

Still haven't ovulated, day 13 but thought I'd ovulate earlier on clomid. Still getting high readings on the advanced monitor.

How's everyone else doing?

confused107 · 27/12/2018 14:19

I have the clear blue advanced monitor. I just found it all really consuming testing everyday so I have given up using it. Just taking the advise of DTD every second day..still have sticks so might try them again

Clarence58 · 27/12/2018 15:14

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I might use the sticks I have in already but not get too focussed on it. I’m just desperate for my period to arrive so I can get started on the clomid. Today is day 28 and my cycles are usually 28 days but occasionally are 29 or 30 days so it should be any day now. Obviously Iv done a pregnancy test (or a few) which were negative

confused107 · 27/12/2018 15:42

I'm really enjoying my Christmas and cycle off clomid, but will soon be on to cycle number four when AF arrives. Prepping myself to try my best this cycle- ordered pre seed, got some cough medicine and have booked in for some acupuncture. Any other suggestions?

Iqra786 · 28/12/2018 10:47

@twiglet2353 I have just had my 21 day bloods and the nurse confirmed the results would be back by Monday

Twiglet2353 · 28/12/2018 16:20

@Iqra786 Got my results back from this morning and they're 9....
