Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

So I called the hosp again today got through to one of the other dr's secretary who finally told me my results.. My progesterone levels were 9.9 on day 21 which means I didn't ovulate.. I knew I didn't ovulate

I asked so know we know 50mg hasn't worked what's next and I've been told that I have to wait until my dr's secretary is back from annual leave and then call back.. The NHS is a joke

Loujodie · 27/11/2018 20:04

Ah @Iqra786 it's so frustrating isn't it. Hope you're ok. When are you due to see your consultant again?

By the way ladies.. where are you all in the UK? I'm in Hertford, Hertfordshire.
I was given 100mg to start with and now on my second round out of 3. Am not seeing anyone again until January 16th.

Currently on CD19 and crossing my fingers and toes!

Sending best wishes to you all

Lou xx

AliceScarlett · 27/11/2018 20:45

How frustrating :( I don't know why they don't say "if you don't ovulate take 100mgs". When are you due the next dose?

I don't think I ovulated either, but it's 6th cycle so I'm past caring.

I'm in Surrey. Victoria Wing for me!

@Twiglet2353 How did today go?

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 27/11/2018 21:08

@AliceScarlett Came away with another clomid prescription - this time for 3 months at 100mgs (and bloods every month). Appointment tomorrow might change state of play though. She backtracked on her management plan a bit when I told her I was seeing the ivf consultant tomorrow, but she's pretty sure either herself or the ivf unit will want me to have another lap to remove my blocked tube.
Was good to go through my lap findings in more detail though.

@Iqra786 can be really frustrating all the toing and froing ey! Hope you get some answers soon

Somarch · 28/11/2018 06:51

I keep reading about everyone having blood tests to see if they are ovulating, I’ve never had one! All I get is an internal ultrasound!? Is this normal & are the bloods more accurate than the ultrasound? I have no idea what my progesterone level is, I just know it was 1.2 when I started?

Iqra786 · 28/11/2018 07:58

@alicescarlett I'm due to start my second dose next week.. I just hope I get a call sometime this week and someone can tell me what the plan is.. Am I to take 50mg or 100mg

AliceScarlett · 28/11/2018 08:16

@somarch ultrasound is more accurate. No point doing bloods if they can physically see the follicle.

Hopefully someone will call you by next week Iqra x

Day 21 bloods taken ... crossing my fingers & toes!

AliceScarlett · 29/11/2018 14:51

Good luck everyone! I'm past my fertile window now. After 3 years DH and I never have to have timed sex again. I must say I'm rather pleased about it.

Loujodie · 29/11/2018 15:30

@AliceScarlett
If ok, can I ask how often you were having sex in your fertile window?
TMI but it all went a bit wonky for us last night! He was feeling ill with the manflu and I had the hump! Oops, but managing every two to three days. It's just so bloody boring!
Xx

Mol5 · 29/11/2018 15:34

Hey guys,
I had a break from mumsnet for a few weeks to evade a mental breakdown, as you do.
Last month was our final cycle of clomid and BFN.
Our house sale also fell through this week. Merry Christmas to me!
The only good news is I did ovulate each month I took it and had never Ov'd before.

I've told my Dr i'm not coming back to discuss next steps until the New Year because I need a break.

Now.. I may be delusional.. BUT has anyone's ovulation been kick started by clomid, then continued to ovulate once off clomid?
I am genuinely thinking that I might be nearing ovulation NATURALLY for the first time in my life.. I have OPK lines and CM.
I think I could be going insane because this has never happened before off meds?!.. anyone?

Mol5 · 29/11/2018 15:36

Hey @loujodie - we had sex every other day during my fertile window as advised to by our Dr. So a lot..annoyingly...

@ttctyler18 no one is going to send you their meds on the internet sorry. Why don't you go to another pharmacy?

@loujodie Normally CD 11, 12, 14, 15. Half the time recently it's been cup and syringe as we are just so tired of it.

@mol5 Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Clomid can kickstart ov from what I've read, if you're having all the signs then get in there!

Anyone other than Twiglet and I off for IVF soon? I've started to watch YouTube documentaries on IVF, it's kind of helpful to demistify it but also slightly terrifying. All the couples they follow don't get pregnant!

DawnK77 · 29/11/2018 17:46

@Mol5 yes, i had clomid once, was allergic but have had 2 normal periods since and I never have periods unless given medication to force

@AliceScarlett yes, I've been approved IVF is next, however went to clinic couple of weeks ago and had a camera investigation they aren't happy that NHS consultant has left a large Dermoid on ovary so I'm now waiting for date to have that removed and then IVF... when do you start? Xx

Twiglet2353 · 29/11/2018 18:15

@AliceScarlett Yey for no more timed-shagging! It will be so much nicer from here on out, actually doing it spontaneously!

Update from ivf consultation yesterday - all going ahead if required but to continue clomid in the interim with progesterone levels each month and to definitely increase the doses if shown not ovulating!

Happy to be listened to/progressing forward!

Ttctyler18 · 29/11/2018 18:25

@AliceScarlett just thought it’d be worth an ask as been trying so long I don’t want to miss a course alread, and I’m in a very small village theirs only one pharmacy here, unfortunately I don’t drive so can’t travel, I explained this to pharmacy (that is miss a course and I don’t drive so can not get anywhere else) and they didn’t seem bothered! :/ x

Iqra786 · 29/11/2018 18:28

I have some good news too! Got a call from the hospital today and they have agreed to prescribe me 100mg!! Grin I really hope I ovulate this month! Due my AF next week ☺️

Hop90 · 29/11/2018 19:30

Iqra786 Did they not give u another blood test on day 28 ?

Iqra786 · 29/11/2018 19:55

@hop90 nope I was just told to take a pregnancy test and if negative to start northisterone on CD28 for 7 days and then to start clomid on CD2 my progesterone level needs to be 19 in order for me to ovulate on 50mg progesterone levels were 9.9 so hoping the 100mg will do the trick now
