Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

@Gribble2021 that's exactly it. It's like our lives are on pause. I'm sick of not planning anything "just in case I feel shit on clomid/just in case we've got ivf appointments" or heaven forbid "just in case we're pregnant". It's having such a detrimental effect on mine and DHs emotional wellbeing, being a couple that are usually so determined.

I'm pleased we have this community to talk to each other, because bar a minimal few there's no one in my private life I could really speak to about it x

Gribble2021 · 02/11/2018 19:55

100% glad I’ve you guys to vent to I feel no one understands unless they’ve been through it ..... the nurses I deal with ones fantastic the other is so matter of fact like “oh well will just try again next month “

Hope we all get some answers & results too so frustrating

my partner is so laid back about it all 🙈

Loujodie · 02/11/2018 20:01

It's all so up and down this ttc malarkey and taking meds etc. Some days I just think "oh whatever" and other days I'm like .. no I want this and I need help. So conflicted.

I called my GP today for my 21 day blood results from Monday, they don't have them as they didn't request them the consultant did. So I call the consultant's secretary.. voicemail! So I try 5 more numbers to no avail and end up giving up! ..., I just want my blood results please!!! Arghhhhhh

And calm xx

Gribble2021 · 02/11/2018 20:22

Every time I call I’ve to leave a message no one answers straight away, then when they call back I’m at work with clients & cant talk properly I call back same again honestly feel so stressed by it all

Good luck ladies ♥️

Hi all,
I've been keeping an eye on this thread even though I finished my clomid journey last cycle (after 3 months) and have arranged IVF to start next month.
I'm going out with friends tonight so have just done the obligatory pregnancy test and it came back with a faint positive!!!! Shock
I'm still shaking as I actually can't believe it. I've been brown spotting all week which is usually a sure sign that I'm about to come on but hasn't kicked in properly which is why I tested. I'm trying not to get hopes up as it's still so early but this is the closest I've come in the 2.5 years so at the moment am just enjoying not having the crushing disappointment of yet another failed cycle!!!
Eek!!! Smile

Hey!

Just thought I would post on here as my experiences TTC always left me looking for some hope so thought I would sprinkle some here (I hope no-one minds!)

Me and my husband were TTC for 19 months and during that time I was diagnosed with PCOS - I was so hopeless as my cycles ranged anywhere from 35 days to 70 days and some months I didn't ovulate, ovulation sticks didn't work for
Me with PCOS either so I had no
Way of knowing if/when I would ovulate and me and my husband tried so hard every month.

We were eventually prescribed clomid 50mg and I took it days 2-6 of my cycle. I had my 21 day progesterone test and was told my levels were 'slightly lower than expected' and so I would be moving up to 100mg the next cycle. I was so gutted and disheartened.

I got to day 87 of my cycle (the one I had taken the 50mg of clomid) and to be on day 87 was longer than my longest cycle but not unusual for me as I'm used to ridiculous cycles. I had not taken a pregnancy test as after my 21 day blood result I assumed I had not ovulated so had given up hope for the cycle.

My consultant was due to telephone me to talk about inducing a period so I could move on to the 100mg cycle and my husband suggested I should take a pregnancy test so that when he rung I could say I had done so and the test was negative. I took the test with very little interest (as I was more than used to negative results and didn't hold out any hope for the cycle I was on anyway).

The result came up 'pregnant 3+ weeks' I didn't believe it and neither did my husband. I convinced myself the test was wrong and there was something else wrong with me causing the positive result.

Well one doctors appointment and an ultrasound later it turns out I was 12 weeks pregnant!

I am now 15+2 and still cannot believe my luck.

I just wanted to spread some hope for any of you using clomid. That it can work when you least expect it and when you have run out of hope! Xx

Gribble2021 · 04/11/2018 13:02

Nice to hear some happy & positive news

Congratulations

foxychicken · 04/11/2018 15:25

I have PCOS and was prescribed Clomid. It didn't appear to work with me, no blood tests indicated ovulation, and we had finally given up when I got pregnant - I found out when I went for a scan prior to starting IVF.

Never give up, miracles do happen - my DD is now 15 and although no siblings followed even though we've never used contraception, maybe the nurse was right that sometimes Clomid sets the wheels in motion and gives your body the kick-start it needs. xxx

Mummylaura1988 · 04/11/2018 20:41

I started taking clomid in August after having to take medication to induce a bleed as I was cycle day 94 by the time the induced period arrived. I got a period in 16th September (day 40 of my cycle) after taking clomid on days 2-6 as advised so I took clomid again on 2-6 of my cycle but we're now on 4th November and no period. I've done several pregnancy tests all saying negative. I've been feeling sick off and on for the last couple of weeks. I had all the symptoms that I was coming on a few weeks back sore breasts bloating etc but still nothing. I don't know what's going on should I ring the hospital I'm under because I don't think clomid has worked for me this month? I've tried to be more relaxed about TTC because I've been so obsessed about it in previous months I thought i would take the pressure off myself so I didn't track when I've ovulated (or not as the case may be..). Anybody had this before and could possibly help shed some light for me?

Thankyou in advance xx

Loujodie · 05/11/2018 16:04

Hi lovely ladies,

I've just got my 21 day results back from last week (monday) and the consultants secretary said my level was 50.3.. I've tried googling if this is good and I don't really understand what I'm reading? Any help is greatly appreciated please

Lou xx

Twiglet2353 · 05/11/2018 17:02

Well had call from secretary today to say she had spoken with my consultant about my concerns reiterating it's my third cycle. She still wants me to stay on 50mg for this next one. I can't find any evidence to support this? The secretary now said she's prepared to prescribe me more than 4 cycles. I think it's a waste of everyone's time but then I'm feeling a bit Negative Nancy...

Hi guys,

Thought I’d join in.

Almost ready to start TTC for #2.

DS1 is a clomid bubba, we were TTC for 14 cycles, I was 27 when we fell pregnant, cycles all over the place anywhere from 26-53 days while I was tracking them.

Had a 5cm cyst in my left ovary that was removed and while they were doing that they did the dye test on my tubes.

Fell pregnant with DS1 on my first cycle post op which was my second cycle on clomid.

DS just turned 1 a couple of weeks ago and we are thinking of starting to TTC again around Jan/Feb.

Thinking about asking to go on clomid straight away because it took us a while last time and I don’t want to waste time seeing that I’ll be 30 next year and we want two more kids if possible.

My GP is great and the fertility specialist I saw last time was lovely, when I saw my GP last time she said she is happy to send a referral through to the specialist whenever I want and I think I’ll get bloods and an unltrasound done before I see him just to make sure everything is ok and no more cysts have sprung up.

Am in Australia so think things work a bit differently here compared to your NHS.

Oh jeez, sorry for the novel.

Just thought I’d share a success story and it’s good to have support

AliceScarlett · 07/11/2018 15:16

Hello everyone, sounds like a lot of us are having a rough time.

I'm two days late, 2x BFN and totally furious. This always happens on the cycles I don't get my hopes up with. It's so unfair. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed because it will turn up soon and my hopes will be dashed again.

Hey ladies,
Just reading everyone’s stories & it is so lovely to see everyone supporting each other.
Me & my DH are currently ttc, I’ve done my first cycle of clomid (only on 50mg) but the side affects have been awful! The mood swings especially have been horrendous :( I’ve started arguments with my DH every night even from the smallest thing & half hour later, I apologise & im all happy again! Has anyone else experienced horrific mood swings? Thinking I should talk to the dr about it?

Twiglet2353 · 08/11/2018 20:14

@Somarch apart from headaches in my first cycle, my only other side effect is becoming a psycho bitch 😂😂

Oh god and the hot sweats! 🙈

Somarch · 08/11/2018 20:27

@Twiglet2353 oh god, don’t even mention the hot sweats! I think I should be locked in a cave when on the clomid!
So glad someone else has experienced this as well!!x

aj90x · 09/11/2018 12:53

Hi ladies,

I have PCOS and me and my partner have been ttc for 18months now. I started clomid 50mg day 2-6 last month. Not using opk but BD every other day. Had my scan CD13 was told I had a follicle on the right at 28mm (told this meant it was a cyst) on my left I had 4 follicles 36mm, 34mm, 27mm (again told they were cysts) and one at 19mm told this would release within the next 24hours. Had my day 21 blood test unsure whether I would have actually ovulated.

From CD22 I had sore boobs worse than I ever get, white CM and had slight cramping and twinges from my left side. Did a pregnancy test yesterday CD26 of course a bfn! Still convinced I was pregnant and just tested to early.

Today it all came crashing down when I went to the loo and there it was af I really didn't expect it and now I'm on and off crying like a right idiot. Can't help thinking it's my fault the clomid sent me CRAZY and I would pick the silliest little fights which turned into explosive ones. Has anyone else had pregnancy like symptoms after ovulation on clomid?

This month I've been told not to take clomid to keep an eye on the cysts and see if I ovulate by myself. Which I'm not hopeful for as I never have before but let's give this a go!

Sorry for the essay and I hope you don't mind me joining! Just thought I could really do with some people to talk to x

Twiglet2353 · 11/11/2018 18:20

Please help me ladies I just don't know who else to ask.

I'm on my seventh consecutive day of spotting. However because I usually start spotting a week or so after a positive OPK I've been waiting to get a full bright red flow before starting my next cycle. I'm now technically 14dp+veOPK and would usually have started my new cycle 3-5 days ago.

I've now read online that Clomid can cause light periods. Now I'm thinking should I have started my next round by now?

TMI but my spotting was brown sticky discharge mixed with dark red for the first few days and since then just dark red upon wiping. Not requiring tampons just a panty liner.

Do I A) wait it out and see if I start heavy bleeding or cramping over the next couple of days or B) Have my first Clomid tablet tonight?

I'm finding it so hard to differentiate between spotting and a period 😞 And for the record obviously I've POAS because I can't help myself, bd obviously a stark white BFN!!

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 18:30

Do you normally start full AF flow after spotting?

So tricky to know, very frustrating x

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 11/11/2018 18:38

Not really, I've have super light but long periods since I first came off the pill, and it's only really the past couple of cycles that I've had a day where I've felt cramping.

Stark contrast to the periods I had before going on that pill (Femodette). Used to have to control the heaviness with Tranexamic Acid and be on a variety of painkillers for the intense cramps from the endo

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 18:52

My only concern is that if you are on cd 6 or 7 and you take Clomid tonight it might be a waste because it is too late... How long did your last period last for?

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 11/11/2018 19:05

@AliceScarlett last cycle I spotted from the5-9th October then had 6 days of light to medium flow followed by another day of spotting x

Forgot to say have also attached my cycle stats from FF for the past year x

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 19:10

I just don't know. Can you demand to speak to your consultant? Or a fertility nurse? And ask.

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 11/11/2018 19:23

@AliceScarlett because I'm under gynae still and not the subfertility clinic I've been pretty much left to myself.

I do however have a GP appointment in the morning to hopefully get my ivf referral letter. This is potentially outing but I have learned that I have been pretty mismanaged and my colleague who happens to work in this field has advised me of what I need to do.

Sadly this is not a close colleague that I can send a cheeky fb message to demanding he analyses my FF chart 😂
