Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Hi @Gribble2021. No experience of hives but sure I've read someone else mention it somewhere?

Sounds like you're really susceptible to Clomid then. Was that just the 50mg dose too?

mouse1234567 · 29/10/2018 19:57

Hi @Gribble2021-poor you re the cancelled cycles and the hives. I’m on day 7 of my first cycle 50mg and no hives yet. Not really any side effects yet either-so fingers crossed!

I hope they sort your meds ASAP so you can get on with IUI. I have my scan on Wednesday to see how it is all progressing.

Gribble2021 · 29/10/2018 20:02

Hey ladies

My first go at clomid was 25mgs for 5 days & 2nd was 25mgs alternative days so a very low dose, doctor said it’s good that it’s workes but it’s worked too well so there now thinking on plan b “which I’m not sure what that will be yet” hopefully here from my clinic this week, I’ve read that it can be from the change in my hormones the rash/hives

Good luck to you all ladies I’ll check in & see how your all doing xxGrin

AliceScarlett · 30/10/2018 11:02

@Mrsbroodymamma Yay! 2nd BFP! Congratulations :)

@twiglet2353 that looks positive to me. Doesn't Clomid mess with LH readings though?

I've fallen off the thread. I'm one week into the 2ww on my 5th cycle and I Cant Be Arsed. Which in a way is better because I'm not getting my hopes up.

In other news I'm talking to the head of commissioning for my CCG this afternoon to discuss my 1 funded cycle that doesn't match the 3 cycles recommended by NICE. I doubt anything will come of it, but its worth a go.

Twiglet2353 · 30/10/2018 16:46

@AliceScarlett ooh let us know how you get on. We're only entitled to one funded cycle too (although if I moved 10miles down the road it would be two)

AliceScarlett · 30/10/2018 16:48

Nothing came off it, I'm not surprised. Only thing she did say that I didn't know was that if we end up freezing more than one embryo we will have to pay for transfer. Which isn't what the consultant told me.

Meh.

The try’s are such a postcode lottery it should be the same across the board

I’m still waiting to here what my next step is 🙈

I wish you all good luck xx

Twiglet2353 · 30/10/2018 20:16

Oh @AliceScarlett I was also under the impression that if you don't have a livebirth from the ivf cycle then any FETs from the embryos you got from that egg retrieval would be included in the 'one cycle' too....?!

AliceScarlett · 30/10/2018 20:25

Nope. A lot of trusts just do a fresh and destroy the others as they don't want to pay for storage.

@AliceScarlett oh it sounds so cold! 😞

AliceScarlett · 30/10/2018 20:42

Borderline unethical.

Hey guys sorry for being Mia I had my sisters wedding and lots of guests over.. So I've just taken my first dose of clomid! Here goes nothing 🙈

Loujodie · 31/10/2018 10:35

Good luck and baby dust to you @Iqra786

Still have everything crossed for you @AliceScarlett

I had my 21 day bloods taken on Monday (first round of clomid 100mg) I still don't feel like I've ovulated 🙈
Question.. how long did your bloods take to come back? I need to contact my gp for my next provera and clomid prescription too.

Xx

Twiglet2353 · 31/10/2018 18:28

@Loujodie I had my progesterone bloods taken yesterday and rang consultants secretary for results today. They were (non-surprisingly) 3. My consultant is now away for a fortnight. Left in limbo re next cycle. Woohoo!!

Gribble2021 · 31/10/2018 19:18

Good luck @iqra786

@Twiglet2353 I hate when they leave you in limbo, I was at my clinic last Thursday & they said I would here within the week what the next move is & ive heard nothing so again no idea what’s happening

Xx

Gribble2021 · 31/10/2018 19:19

@loujodie mines were back same day at clinic of doctor 2 days xx

Loujodie · 31/10/2018 19:30

Thanks @Gribble2021 and @Twiglet2353
I'll give the GP a call tomorrow and if they don't have the results I'll call the consultants office.
That's rubbish that you are left in limbo! What mg of clomid have you been taking?
Xx

Twiglet2353 · 31/10/2018 19:35

@Loujodie 50mg for the past two cycles. They only wanted levels taking cycle 2 and 4. I've asked the secretary to speak to another consultant if possible re:plan. I'm going to ring again over next couple of days to see if any luck and I'd like to request monitoring if possible.
And no offence to the secretary but she was trying to give me clinical advice and I'd just about had it 😂

Gribble2021 · 31/10/2018 19:47

Let us know how you get on @Loujodie good luck xx

Loujodie · 31/10/2018 20:15

@Gribble2021 I will do 😊
Thanks... crossing my fingers that I ovulated. Xx

Twiglet2353 · 02/11/2018 17:10

How is everyone doing today?
Had a call back from the secretary and my consultant has decided I should do a third month on 50mg. Despite two cycles of anovulation. This will be cycle 3 out of 4. I feel my opinion is totally disregarded, and I'm really struggling with it today.
Is this normal? Should I get a second opinion? And if so has anyone done clomid privately? Would I just contact the ivf unit?

TIA x

AliceScarlett · 02/11/2018 17:55

What?? That makes no sense. Why take 50mg when it's not working!
I'd take 100mg off my own back, but I don't suggest you do that. I just have no trust in doctors. Trouble with asking for a second opinion (Which you are entitled too and I think you should) is his colleagues are not going to want to go against what he has said.

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 02/11/2018 18:47

@AliceScarlett The consultant is actually female, whom I specifically requested as I thought she'd be more respectful and understanding than the male gynae consultant I had in the past who didn't appear to really like women 😂

But I have to agree with you, to me it's 100mgs or nothing next cycle. We all know how crap the side effects can be - why be on it unnecessarily?

I've asked the secretary to reaffirm on Monday and express my concern x

Gribble2021 · 02/11/2018 19:20

@twiglet2354

I feel your pain & I totally know what your going through, feel our opinions don’t count, twice they’ve done same with me, I was in last Thursday and was told I would here from them within a week, nothing I called & got told letter sent to your doctor, I asked if they could tell me over the phone what was happening & got told No so my my minds now in a twist waiting for this letter to come through I can’t plan anything & even my works all over the place. I’m due my period Monday my heads all over place I don’t think they understand what we’re going through at times. I’m gonna get a second opinion once this letter arrives

They also added at end could be after new year another 2 months in limbo 😩
