Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice

Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Hi All,

I've read through the posts and hoped I could come along for the ride with you all?

Age 35
Clomid round 1 😬
Have an almost 12yo with ex (took 18 months and missed miscarriage)
New partner of 3 years

I had the HSG and no issues stated from consultant, I have PCOS (diagnosed in 2014) periods when off the pill are all over the shop! We've been trying for over a year now and We saw the consultant a month ago. I was put on provera for 14 days, period started and now CD3 (taking clomid 2-6) OH has a slightly low count 13.9mil (

Loujodie · 10/10/2018 22:19

Ooh also,

I learned today that Jules Oliver suffered infertility issues in the beginning. In a book she wrote in 2006 she mentions this and taking clomid. They have 5 children now I think!

Book now purchased on amazon!

Hi @KT2828!
A long cycle definitely doesn't mean no ovulation. You can have a long cycle on clomid and ovulate still any time!
For example, my cycle on clomid is 32 days average with ovulation around day 18.
Some ladies on here have said before they had a 40+ day cycle and ovulate day 26+ etc.
Are you doing ovulation tests at home to track it?
Hope that helps Grin. Also, are you not having day 21 bloods to check for ovulation? They are most conclusive.

I'll check that out @loujodie! Welcome! That's the same as me re prescriptions and bloods, no scans, back in Jan. I'm currently on cycle #2 on 50mg. I had no bad symptoms at all, I hope you don't either!

I'd also recommend a book by Izzy Judd called Dare To Dream, all about their infertility, clomid, and IVF. It's like the words are taken out my mouth.

Xx

KT2828 · 12/10/2018 12:50

Thanks @mol5. I started af day 36. I didn't use ovulation predictor aticks but going to this cycle. They give scan at day 8 (on clomid day 2-6) and further scans if needed. Hoping to get some more scans this month so get more idea on of its working. Thinking of getting a clear blue advanced monitor but not sure if the clomid will affect how this works. Thanks for the book recommendation ! Xx

Mol5 · 12/10/2018 12:57

I just use these cheap One-Step paper ovulation strips and they work. You can buy big multipacks off amazon 30 for around £5. But I don’t think clomid would affect any readings. fingers crossed for next month x

Hi everyone, I hope I can join into this conversation - it has been really interesting and helpful to read everyone’s stories and not feel so alone with feeling frustrated and hopeless, when everyone around me seems to be getting pregnant!

I’m 29 years old.
TTC for 21 months.
Normal HSG and USS.
Regular cycles usually averaging at 26 days.
DHs sample all fine.
So have been put into the ‘unexplained fertility’.

We met with our consultant last week and he has prescribed 6 months of Clomid even though my bloods apparently show I’m ovulating. We have to wait until next cycle to start taking this.

I have also booked to start with an (expensive!!!) acupuncturist who specialises in fertility, as have read some positive things about the benefits of this, although I’m not looking forward to it particularly and don’t think needles will be relaxing ...!!

Fingers crossed for us all :) x

Loujodie · 13/10/2018 23:24

Hi @Mol5
It's nice to know others are in the same boat as you :-)

Ooh I'll take a look at the Izzy judd book too! Thank you.

Got a question.. just taken my last 100mg of clomid tonight ... when should I start using the opk's? I was thinking from Tuesday CD9? Or do you all think that's too soon?

Thanks all
Lou x

Mol5 · 14/10/2018 08:27

Hey @loujodie,
My doctors advice was CD11-CD21 for me personally initially.
Over a couple of months I realised a trend in that actually my peak is later around CD18 so I now don’t start until CD13 onwards but it’s totally up to you xx

Loujodie · 14/10/2018 10:19

Thanks @Mol5 that's very helpful. My cycles are so very irregular with the pcos that I wouldn't have a clue.

Crossing my fingers the clomid works and starts ovulation.. eek!

xx

Twiglet2353 · 15/10/2018 09:07

Must not get in Clomid rage about the media frenzy that is Meghan and Harry's pregnancy announcement...

Congrats on your fertility guys 👍🏻

Loujodie · 15/10/2018 14:42

@Twiglet2353 I hear you!

I just wanted to ask if Clomid is making any of you super tired and lethargic?
Luckily I'm working from home today as I'm really really struggling with tiredness. It's frustrating as I haven't felt I had the energy to do anything and usually I love going to the gym... mainly to eat stuff I shouldn't afterwards! ;-) I went today to a 30 min class and I feel wiped out!

Apart from a few hot flushes and (sorry if tmi) constipation, I haven't had any other side affects from it as yet. Finished day 6 on Saturday.
Going to start temping tomorrow morning and using opk's from Wednesday.

Lou x

KT2828 · 15/10/2018 20:00

Good like @twiglett2353
Yeah I was definitely more tired. Luckily so far I haven't had any hotflushes. I am also taking Inofolic sachets (advised to take by Dr alongside clomid to help with PCOS symptoms). They are expensive though and early days to know if any improvement with PCOS symptoms.

Xx

MrsTee22 · 15/10/2018 22:28

Hi all, thought I'd join in with this. I'm diagnosed PCOS, possible endo but waiting on a laparoscopy to confirm. Started my first month of clomid this month I'm on day 5 of my cycle now. Feeling positive. Anyone had much luck with clomid? X

BeaunyoGI5 · 22/10/2018 20:53

Hi girls hope u don’t mind me joining, this is my first month on Clomid. But I’m struggling to read my ovulation tests🙈 my fience and I have been trying for a baby for 4 years but only 7 months under the doctor. Did anyone get any symptoms early after conceiving with Clomid or did u notice and thing different to other months? And got a bfp? Here’s a pic of my ovulation tests there’s just today missing but it’s the same colour line as cd21 I’m confused

Baby dust to everyone xx

Hi Beaunyo, they all look negative to me. How long are your cycles normally? I think we've only had 1 bfp on this group and she had a really long cycle the month she conceived (ovulated around day 40 I think). Sorry can't be more help.

FizzyMarge · 23/10/2018 10:16

BeaunyoGI5 - I also have really struggled to read my OPK sticks ... they look the same as yours do so I have now given up with them as I just can't seem to get a clear reading. I even upped it to using them twice each day just in case I missed the surge but still no clear 2 lines on there!

I am now waiting for AF to start and then cracking on with taking Clomid- this will be my first cycle using this.
I am also going for my first acupuncture session on Friday which I am very scared about (hate needles!) But also feeling positive as trying 2 new things this cycle (Clomid + acupuncture) :) xx 🤞🏼🤞🏼

BeaunyoGI5 · 23/10/2018 22:51

Thanks girls for getting back to me, it’s so frustrating, ttc is a mind field, my cycles range from normally 28/32 days but last month was 7 weeks 🙈 it was a first for me but just show how unpredictable my cycles are, just wondering, since cd 20 my tummy has felt bloated and uncomfortable is this normal?

Baby dust to everyone xxx

Mrsbroodymamma · 24/10/2018 10:59

Hi, coming to the end of my first cycle of clomid + trigger. I didn't test out my trigger which I very much regret. Just tested with a first response 13 days since trigger. What do you think of the result.

KT2828 · 24/10/2018 11:39

That definitely looks like a faint positive! 😃 Xx

Mrsbroodymamma · 25/10/2018 03:25

I have retested... What do you think.

Looks positive to me and as though getting darker! Congratulations! Xx

mouse1234567 · 25/10/2018 08:41

Mrsbroodymamma-those lines definitely looks darker to me too! Congratulations!

Hi all, I started my first round of clomid yesterday on day 2. Stats are:

Cycle 15
Moderate Endo-laproscopy to remove some in August 2018
Ovulatory PCO-normal BMI but irregular ish periods with AFC in 20s and AMH about 40

Taking clomid for 3 cycles on and off as part of super ovulation. Really hoping this might work for us -although got IVF booked for April if not! So far no side effects but only day two of my packet! Scan booked for day 9 next wed.

Good luck to everyone!

BeaunyoGI5 · 25/10/2018 12:05

Hi girls, that’s a very good positive broodymamma, congratulations!

I wonder if I could have some advice, so thinking I’d probably already ovulated according to my opks me n h have relaxed on the dtd so on Sunday I managed to dtd then working late Monday n Tuesday n Wednesday didnt managed to do it, on Tuesday I got a positive opks so does this mean I’ve missed my chance? This is my first Clomid month and I’ve noticed I’ve had no cm at all so I no that doesn’t help, so should I just write this month off 🙄😪

Thanks girls baby dust to everyone xx

Twiglet2353 · 28/10/2018 18:55

Is this a proper positive OPK? I feel like I've had positive ones before where the lines have matched but never where the test line is darker? I'm my usual CD19 so clomid definitely isn't making me ovulate any earlier, and last cycle I still had a short luteal phase.
I'm supposed to have my progesterone done on Tuesday (gyno has been pretty strict on it should be done CD21 regardless).

Also attached my FF chart for funsies
