Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

Oh yes I have a little bit of CM if I do a good root around, but none on wiping. I'd read a lot of posts about people having 'an abundance' and it made me and my meek CM feel inadequate 😂😂😂

AliceScarlett · 01/10/2018 09:52

I can relate to the relief...what a shit state of affairs.

Abundance! I had that when I was about 15. 10 years of the contraceptive injection soon sorted that out Angry

Hm. I think I'm angry today Blush

CD20. Waiting on AF.

@AliceScarlett I think there's a lot to say about the long term effects of contraception on fertility. I've been off the pill for a long while now and my cycles have never been the same. Especially factoring in the luteal phase defect!

Wonder if more will come out in years to come

AliceScarlett · 03/10/2018 21:24

@Twiglet I think it will. Infertility is rising ( although population is growing) I have no idea about chemicals and things but contraceptive use may well account for some of it.
Do you guys avoid BPA? I don't. I do worry about hormones in meat and dairy too. Not anymore because I've been a vegan for two years but the accumulated effects. Plus there is soy! I can't find much evidence to suggest the estrogen levels are too high but who knows. Minefield of trying to avoid uncertainty :(

I got my dates wrong, I'm on CD21. This 2ww is seriously dragging.

I know the feeing re time dragging in that 2 wk period..I feel the same. On CD 28. Tested yesterday as couldn't wait and bpn. Xx

Twiglet2353 · 05/10/2018 05:49

6dpo and woken up spotting. Surprise surprise. I feel like I'm almost numb to the disappointment now.

AliceScarlett · 05/10/2018 07:04

So sorry :(
6dpo! Is your luteul phase normally so short?

OP posts:
Twiglet2353 · 05/10/2018 07:49

I start spotting anywhere from 2-8dpo and then start my next cycle of full flow bleeding anywhere from 7-11dpo. I feel so disheartened 😕

AliceScarlett · 05/10/2018 11:01

:( Are the Drs/clinic not doing anything? Is your progesterone high enough?

Have you ever tried acupuncture Twiglet? I found it really sorted my cycles out (including getting rid of the 5 days of spotting before my period started). Then my acupuncturist retired! So currently trying to find another one. Was really sceptical before I tried it as I don't really believe in that sort of thing but was amazed at the results. Still didn't get pregnant, but at least it stopped me stressing about short luteal phase for the months I was doing it.

AliceScarlett · 05/10/2018 17:04

When (if) I do IVF I'm going to have accupuncture, I've already decided on the practitioner.

My body is playing tricks with me - painful nipples, nausea, very tired, frequent urination. 9dpo. I actually hate it because it increases my hope, but I've been ill and felt off quite a few times over the past 3 years. It's never meant anything then sonit doesn't mean anything now.

Twiglet2353 · 05/10/2018 17:29

@GettingImpatientNow I have thought about it. Initially what put me off was the cost as obviously it's not a one-off thing and ideally you should do a full course. But as the months go on I've found myself trying to look for local specialists in infertility.

An update from this morning, no further spotting, hooray! Hoping it's just a blip and I at least get a longer luteal phase this month 🤞

Iqra786 · 05/10/2018 20:42

Hi guys wondering if I could join too??

I'm 24 years old been TTC for 1 year and in Feb have been told that I have PCOS :( I have had the dye test and my husband has had his semen analysis both which came back normal.. I've been prescribed clomid last month but I've been waiting for AF so I can start taking clomid, currently on CD 51

I have been having accupunture done since June and the last 3 months I have had cycles which lasted 35 days I don't know why my AF is late this month? I'm trying to stay calm but I'm so stressed out

I've been waiting months to be prescribed clomid and now that I finally have it I can't take it 😭

AliceScarlett · 07/10/2018 08:27

Welcome @Iqra786 How frustrating to have to wait for Clomid and not know how long that could be! Hopefully AF will hurry up and you can crack on. How many months worth do you have?

11dpo today and horribly hopeful. Why do I do this to myself? Slight nausea and sore boobs is not enough to warrant this kind of hope!
My mum mentioned yesterday that when people ask her if DH and I are ever going to have children she says she thinks probably not as we are too busy with hobbies. It made me feel like I'd let her down. I know logically that is ridiculous. Also surprised the contents of my womb is a discussion point within her friends and our family. Such pressure and I'm not meeting the expectations.

How are we all doing?

OP posts:
Iqra786 · 07/10/2018 10:37

Thankyou @Alicescarlett :) I have 6 months worth.. I weren't to see my acupuncturist yesterday and she said I should call the hospital and ask if I can have norethisterone to start my period.. So I'm thinking about giving them a call tomorrow

I don't think your letting anyone down! Your trying your best and at the end of the day all we can do is try and hope for the best! I'm sure you will get your BFP very soon just done lose hope!!

Twiglet2353 · 07/10/2018 13:52

Welcome @Iqra786

@AliceScarlett I so know what you mean about family pressure. It's horrible to feel like you're letting anyone down. You're not, we're not, we've just been dealt a shit hand (and a bitchy uterus) xx

I started brown spotting the day after my last update, now 8dpo. All the usual stuff to remind me how not pregnant I am. Woo and indeed hoo 😕😞

AliceScarlett · 09/10/2018 08:15

13dpo no cramps just sore boobs which I've only had once before. FF says AF is due Thursday. I really hate this time of hoping, I just endlessly swing back and forth from one extreme to the other.

GettingImpatientNow · 09/10/2018 09:03

Fingers crossed for you Alice Scarlett.
We had our first IVF consultation yesterday and was advised to wait a couple of months to let hormones settle after taking Clomid before beginning. It's always waiting waiting waiting! So will be December / January before we get going.

Mol5 · 09/10/2018 11:28

Hi all,

Welcome @lqra786 - we're the same age :)

How is everyone doing?

It doesn't seem like there's been any good news for a while.. does anyone have any clomid success to report?

I'm on CD22 of clomid cycle#2 on 50mg.

I have been focusing this month on controlling the things I can like my diet and exercise and I've happily lost a few lbs. Not much else I can do to keep my mind sane especially when two of my siblings have announced their pregnancies this month!

AliceScarlett · 09/10/2018 12:54

Cramps and spotting.
Really quite angry.

OP posts:
GettingImpatientNow · 09/10/2018 13:20

Aww rubbish. Properly rubbish. I had my hopes up for you as well. Hope you're ok, try not to get too down about it (I know it's hard). What's your next steps? More clomid cycles? Xx

AliceScarlett · 09/10/2018 14:43

Thank you X

Yes two more cycles then a month off then IVF in January.

OP posts:
AliceScarlett · 09/10/2018 14:43

We can IVF together!

OP posts:
Iqra786 · 09/10/2018 16:18

@mol5 Thankyou Smile

@alicescarlett I wouldn't lose hope just yet clomid is prescribed for 6 months for a reason and I've read that a lot of people have become pregnant on cycle 6! Wishing you all the luck!

KT2828 · 10/10/2018 17:45

Really hoping it works for you on the next two cycles @alicescarlett
I’m only on my first cycle and that’s hard...so can only imagine how you must be feeling. I’m on day 35 and no Af. Tested day 32 and neg. guessing the clomid hasn’t worked this month! Am I right in thinking a long cycle means I haven’t ovulated ?? x
