Thank you AmyL88- Yes, I have another scan early next week, but the nurse was pretty clear about making sure DP and I don't waste any time!

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 25/01/2018 18:37

That's great news Mermaid!!

MermaidTail7 · 25/01/2018 18:48

Thanks Confusion.. Fingers crossed its a good one x

Alicejj8x · 25/01/2018 18:57

Sunny how are things and how did things go with your scan xxx

Alicejj8x · 28/01/2018 21:32

So tmo I am meant to be due on period however with my periods that's probably highly unlikely unless metformin has really helped!!
I have been getting really bad cramps today feeling a little sick and very tired. I also have a lot of discharge come out Friday which looked like ovulation it was so so stretchy so not to sure what's going on there :/..

I will wait and see if AF shows her face then maybe wait and possibly do a preg test Wednesday just to be on the safe side?

Animagus · 29/01/2018 10:09

Hi everyone please can I join? I’m new to this!

I am having investigations for possible PCOS, have only been TTC for 4 months but the lack of period since coming off the pill and my past history of irregular periods has led the GP to investigate sooner rather than later (I’m 26) which I am happy about but also very overwhelmed by it all!

I’ve had bloods which came back normal and currently waiting for an ultrasound in the next few weeks, I guess I’m just looking for people who are in the same boat so I know I’m not alone in this and that there is hope at the end of it all. Feeling rather sorry for myself at the moment.

Alicejj8x · 29/01/2018 10:25

Hello Animagus!

What your going through seems the exact same as me give or take a few things

I've had bloods which came back normal to and it wasn't until they did an internal scan they picked up on my pcos even thou I've had a few of the internal scans after my miscarriage my pcos has only been picked up in December 2017!!

I am also 26 and have been TTC for over 2 years with one miscarriage.
I am currently on metformin for my pcos and in a few weeks time will get given clomid to make me ovulate.

I am the exact same with the lack of periods and mine are every 3 months !!

If you have any questions plz feel free to ask :)

MermaidTail7 · 29/01/2018 10:29

Welcome Animagus..
There's lots of ladies here who have all been through the same thing as you, so you are in the right place.. I was going through the test cycle for my PCOS last summer (now formally diagnosed) and it is really tough..I really struggled with the weight gain, lack of answers, and the resulting infertility..

With my diagnosis, all my blood tests (of which there were many!!) were coming back completely normal, so my only symptoms we polycystic ovaries and a lack of period, until I paid for a different blood test they don't cover on the NHS in my area, which worked out my egg reserve as well as other levels.. That came back that while I had hormone levels within the 'normal' range, they were right at the top end of the normal range.. Since then I've been on metformin for the PCOS symptoms (weight gain and acne) which has really helped, and on gradually increasing clomid doses to stimulate follicle growth/ovulation..

AmyL88 · 29/01/2018 10:40

Morning Ladies,

Can I ask, did your GP test your Thyroid before referring you to the fertility specialist? I am on cycle 5 of Clomid and went to see an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility at the weekend as i am getting worried about what next. The first thing she told me to do was to get my thyroid checked and couldn't believe i was prescribed clomid first! x

intrigued2018 · 29/01/2018 10:56

Hi Animagus,

I am going through exactly the same as you! This thread has helped me massively in the last month to understand the process and what's what as I too have felt completely overwhelmed and sorry for myself! You aren't alone. The success stories on here also help you to realise that there is light at the end of the tunnel its just a bumpy road to get there.

I am 28, been ttc for 5/6months, bloods results were relatively normal (LH on the higher side) and my ovaries looked okay. I went to the drs in Oct and they referred me to a gynae, I had my diagnosis. The gynae referred me back to the dr after the diagnosis and am waiting to hear if the nhs fertility clinic will accept me... should find out in the next two weeks. If not then we have decided we will get our investigation done with a private fertility clinic and understand what our treatment route would be decide from there.

x

Animagus · 29/01/2018 12:37

Thank you all for your lovely responses, it is reassuring to know there are people that feel the same and are dealing with it well!

I am having the scan in two weeks and the doctor said then I will be referred to gynaecology to see what help I can have. I only have some of the symptoms of PCOS obviously no period, had one early miscarriage and I have oily skin (not acne though). I am still within the normal range for my weight so that’s not the issue, just bad luck I guess!

I’m just unsure whether they are going to say it’s PCOS or say it just won’t happen for us, I think that’s what’s worrying me, I can’t stop the negative thoughts!

Alicejj8x · 29/01/2018 12:45

I know exactly how you feel.
I too have no problem with my weight my bum is normal or acne I just have irregular periods and the cysts on the ovaries which means I have pcos

I always worry I won't be able to have a baby but since we've already been pregnant technically just ending in miscarriage we can get pregnant but it probably will take a while but once we've been treated and in the right path there's nothing to say we cannot have that end goal of having our babies :) x

Alicejj8x · 29/01/2018 12:45

Hahah it says bum I meant BMI! Bloody auto correct

Animagus · 29/01/2018 13:08

Haha glad to hear about your normal bum!!

Yes I agree there’s no reason for me to be too negative at the moment, I’m just glad we found out about it now rather than in a few years time when there’s less time to sort it out. Sorry to hear you had a miscarriage, it was truly awful but seems like a lot of people go through it too.

With regards to the ultrasound, is it likely to be an internal one? I know everyone is probably different but my letter doesn’t say, and I’m dreading it! It just tells me I have to drink lots of water which makes me think it’s a normal one but I’m not sure.

intrigued2018 · 29/01/2018 13:17

With regards to the ultrasound it is internal and external - it wasn't as horrendous as I thought it was going to be! good luck.

The thing I have learnt this last month is that I have good days and bad days with coping with my emotion, especially when it comes to PCOS. Try to keep your chin up, big hugs! xxx

Alicejj8x · 29/01/2018 13:43

Hahaha lol silly auto correct!

I would say to fully investigate it would need to be internal which I promise you isn't bad at all and is over very quickly.
But if they have told you to drink water I would say it's a normal tummy scan as when I have had an internal they have asked me to go to the toilet before so they can see a clearer image! So they could do both and then just ask you to go to the toilet before doing the internal one depends how much they can see I guess :)

Thank you it is awful and sorry to hear about yours too :( but we just got to keep positive and think there's lots other women worse off I guess :( xx

intrigued2018 · 29/01/2018 14:09

I was told to drink water before hand, they then did the external scan and had to go to the loo then come back for the internal. good luck x

MermaidTail7 · 29/01/2018 17:13

I had the same with my internal and external scans as Intrigued...

HollyWollyDooDah · 29/01/2018 20:40

Well that was a good week, fertility nurse tasked me to lose 5lbs in 5 weeks and my first week I’ve put on 4lbs!

AmyL88 · 30/01/2018 15:36

@HollyWollyDooDah don't beat yourself up! Are you following a plan? I have re joined slimming world and have lost 6lb so far...only another 2 stone to go Cake

Did anyone see my earlier post regarding Thyroid levels? Would be intrigued to know x

Alicejj8x · 30/01/2018 16:06

Amy I would of thought they would of checked your thyroid in doing the blood tests? These were one of the first bloods I ever had to be tested along with hormone levels :/.. very strange they prescribed clomid first :/..

Also ladies question about metformin sorry if it seems a silly one but my periods are every 3 Months very irregular am
On metformin but is it meant to regulate your cycle? Or is that just one of the things it can do along with many other things?? I understand it's all
About the insulin for metformin?
I was meant to be on AF this Monday and still no show only a 2 days late ( haven't done a preg test yet either as I just have no desire too).. but where my AF hasn't shown does that mean metformin isn't/ hasn't worked? Or should I not be worried if AF hasn't shown whilst on metformin??

xLauraa · 31/01/2018 09:32
