Hi! I'm hoping that this is 3rd time lucky for us... due to start process for my first Frozen transfer in June, with the actual transfer being in July... anyone want to join me on the journey? We have 2 unsuccessful fresh cycles behind us, and I have this one single little embryo from the last cycle sitting in the freezer waiting for me. It's a 3BB and all my hopes are pinned on it being the one!
We have unexplained secondary infertility, have a DS who will be 4 in August, and I've just turned 40, so time isn't on our side... so I'm now waiting for my period to start (due in about 10-14 days, although my cycles are mucked up since our ivf failed in April)... but once it comes i will be down regged to them do transfer early July I think! Fingers crossed we get lucky this time...!

Consultant just came in to chat to us hopes - said 6 was a good number, they looked mature but won't know for sure until they see how/if they fertilise. Sperm was good and we're doing ivf not icsi - we will get a call before midday tomorrow. Let the waiting begin!

Nigeltufnellover · 30/06/2017 15:11

Glad to hear it went ok pyjamas! Fx for you

geeup · 30/06/2017 18:08

That's great pyjamas. Six good eggs is a solid number. Best of luck with the next step. Let us know how you get on after your call tomorrow!!

laurelstar · 30/06/2017 22:44

Well done pyjamas, hope you're having a well-deserved rest.
Hopes I responded well to the stimulation and got 25 eggs, of which 22 fertilised and 18 made it to 5 or 6-day blastocyst. Of those 6 were found to be chromosomally normal, 2 inconclusive and the others abnormal. The numbers are high but unfortunately in the past I've had five miscarriages, so I'm still not holding out much hope. Good luck & let us know how you get on!

Hopes2bmom · 01/07/2017 12:28

Ladies, how are you all doing? I'm jus feeling relieved a bit, got a call from embryologist on day 4 today, all our 6 embryos are doing absolutely good today, fingers crossed, they ll check out till tomorrow or Monday and then freeze the blastocysts and give us a call. I'm still nervous but something to ease right now.

Pyjamas81 · 01/07/2017 12:29

That's great news hopes! Hurrah!

Clinic just called (longest wait EVER) - 5 out of 6 fertilised!! We have 5 embryos!!! They'll call again on Monday with another update. Long way to go still, but OMG!

Hopes2bmom · 01/07/2017 12:36

Wow pyjamas! Awesome! That's cool. Hope you have recovered from egg collection, how exciting! When is your transfer? Is it going to be day 5.?

Pyjamas81 · 01/07/2017 12:39

I was very lucky with the egg collection - didn't affect me at all!

They're going to call me on Monday morning to give me an update and depending on how they're doing I'll either go in on Monday for transfer or we wait. So hard not to get too excited, but will enjoy today for what it is - a very good day 😁

Hopes2bmom · 01/07/2017 12:49

Happy you have no effects out of ec. I was so terribly down till yesterday, ohss is awful mine was a mild one though. I had a nightmare yesterday that none of our embryos survived 😒😑 so was terribly upset since morning, its such a huge relief now though we need to wait until Monday to know the final count of our ice babies😊

geeup · 01/07/2017 13:18

Great news hopes and pyjamas. Hope you both enjoy a lovely weekend while your embryos get busy dividing!

laurelstar · 01/07/2017 14:45

Excellent news ladies. Good Lyca and will wait for updates!
As for me, some light brown spotting last night, so currently feeling very flat and pessimistic. I spoke to one of the nurses who said not to worry too much and they'll see me for my scan on Monday.

laurelstar · 01/07/2017 14:46

Sorry I mean good luck not good Lycra!

Goodluckjonathan76 · 01/07/2017 20:57

That's amazing Pyjamas!! Can I just ask, if 5 eggs fertilise, what are the chances? Does anyone know what percentage are expected to last 5 days and then implant? Or is it totally random?

Also, had a few more questions re IVF that I hoped everyone could help with. Just wondered, it is ever recommended that you do egg collection in one cycle then freeze the embryos and then do egg transfer in another cycle when you have normal progesterone levels which presumably gives it a much better chance of survival than doing ET when your body is all messed up because of the drugs? Or is the whole freezing process a massive deterrent?

Pyjamas81 · 01/07/2017 21:47

I think it really depends on the quality of the embryos goodluck - impossible to predict!

And as far as I know, they recommend fresh over frozen, I'm basically going with whatever they tell me to do!

Hobbes39 · 01/07/2017 22:09

Hi all! hopes & pyjamas - great news - that's brilliant - fingers crossed for the next few days xx
James - fingers crossed for your top grade embryo - there's nothing you can do now, so just try to relax and not think too much about it!
GoodLuck - I don't know a definitive answer to your question, but I do know it will vary with age and other factors. I have heard before that there are 2 key stages - 1. Whether the eggs fertilise in the first place and 2. If they make it past day 3. If they get past day 3 then they have a good chance of getting to day 5, so being able to be frozen or transferred back. Then there's a lot of luck over whether they implant or not...
Last cycle I had 5 eggs out of 7 fertilise - all 5 still going at day 3 but 2 front runners which were transferred back, 2 of the others arrested on day 4, one made it to be frozen. When my 2 day 3 embryos were transferred back I was told that at my age I had an approximately 30-35% chance of pregnancy with them. I am told that this one frozen one will prob have about a 25-30% chance as it is a day 5. But someone younger would have a slightly higher chance I expect. X

Hey goodluck,

Regarding fertilisation and the embryo, my re told that it all depends on the egg quality firstly and then obviously the sperm which results in the quality of embryo. In our case, there is nothing diagnosed wrong with my eggs thus far, it's my second cycle now. As we knew we have severe mfi they said we can expect an avg to below avg fertilisation report, it happened like that. First cycle with short protocol out of 4 matured eggs 4 fertilised and only 1 made it to day 5 and none to freeze. The one transferred was top grade hatching blast, but we were unlucky that cycle did not work.
This cycle with long protocol though we got large number of eggs the fertilisation was still low, but they are going strong even on day 4, fingers crossed all are doing good. So I just blindly guess long protocol is working for me with quality eggs.
So I guess various factors affect the fertilisation and the final count.
There is no proven fact that fresh or fet is best. But some people who suffer ohss would benefit only by fet as their uterus will be not be in good env to receive the emb in fresh cycle. I was so eager for my trnasfer but ohss has made me to go for fet. But I'm happy because I just want to try something different this time around to see if it gets successful. Fingers crossed.

Hopes2bmom · 01/07/2017 23:12

There was a type error. First cycle 8 matured eggs. 😊

Fox23 · 02/07/2017 19:09

Been away few days and so much is happening!
hopes and pyjamas hope you are having as relaxed weekend as possible! I have everything crossed! good luck

My meds arrived yesterday. Yey, I feel like I'm another step closer Grin

LoPl · 03/07/2017 08:57

Pleased you are having good days hopes and pyjamas - fingers crossed it continues.

Pyjamas81 · 03/07/2017 09:06

Currently waiting for the day 3 call - they said they'd call before 9.30am. It feels like FOREVER!

Hopes2bmom · 03/07/2017 09:51

Hey pyjamas same here! I'm so freaking nervous. They said they ll call me today to let us know how many blasts made it to freeze, no calls yet. It feels like forever !! Good luck to you! Is your trnasfer planned today ?

Pyjamas81 · 03/07/2017 09:56

Oh poor you hopes - I bet our phones have never been so watched!! Hope they put you out of your misery soon.

So they called at 9.20, talk about making me suffer! We still have all 5, 2 of them have the right number of cells, the other 3 are a bit slower, one of those three may have arrested (stopped) but they don't know yet. All embryos are top quality. They want to take them to blastocyst stage and they've booked me in for transfer on Weds at 11am (day 5). I have nothing to compare any of this to - is this good? Should I be concerned about the slower ones? Could I lose them all before Wednesday? GAH.

Hopes2bmom · 03/07/2017 10:01

Pyjamas, blastocyst transfer are always best compared to 3 day transfer because the blast is more viable than a 3 day embryo and the pregnancy success rates are high, but there is a small risk that all 3 day embryos may not make it to day 5 sometimes few of them arrests, it happened to me in my first cycle 4 3 day embryos and 1 made it to blast, so we need to just wait and see, fingers crossed you get a perfect blast!

geeup · 03/07/2017 10:29

Well done pyjamas - sounds like a great result. All you need is one to get there (but obviously we all hope for something to freeze too!). Keeping everything crossed for you.
I have 7 follicles showing so I'm pretty much exactly where I was this time last cycle. Good triple layer lining over 8mm so that's fine too. Just have to keep going and expecting collection still on Friday. Would have liked more of course but the nurse said quality over quantity etc.

Pyjamas81 · 03/07/2017 10:29

Ah thanks hopes - everything seems like such a gamble!!
