@Elly1685 Did you test?

@SLady how are you getting on?

I am 9dpo today, felt sicky yesterday but i know its too early for that so my body is playing tricks on me!! :-( Not sure whether to test or just wait it out!!

How is everyone else?

SLady · 04/12/2017 11:07

Oh sunny Sad it's such a shit situation. Especially as you dont get help on the nhs for ivf. Just so unfair Angry I really hope your last round is your lucky one. Has AF arrived yet?

I never used to do them Elly I was just wasting money and getting disappointed all the time and my periods were all over the shop anyway. If you had strong symptoms then would be worth testing..

I'm CD27 today Amy don't think I will bother testing yet I'm just going to wait and see if AF arrives. Might test at the weekend if still nothing. I have no symptoms whatsoever apart from a bit of PMT so I don't think I'm in this month anyway. When are you thinking of testing?

SLady · 04/12/2017 11:19

Although actually at the weekend I broke out in SO many spots on my face and my skin has been so good lately. Not sure if it's because my diet hasn't been great the past week or so but my skin isn't thanking me for it!!!!

HollyWollyDooDah · 04/12/2017 15:34

Fingers crossed for you both slady and amy

Had my first appt at fertility clinic today and nothing to report
He's given me forms to have bloods done throughout next cycle
Thinks I ovulate late but by his guess only ovulated 14 times in last 2 years
Got to lose weight (eye roll) and start taking 5mg folic acid review in 3 months
Partner is fine

Interestingly I bought up metformin and he said that there's recent studies to show it doesn't assist in weight loss, ovulation or pcos management so that's a nope

sigh

SLady · 04/12/2017 16:11

Sounds like you're moving in the right direction holly. Lol I think there must have been a new study or something re metformin as me, sunny and now you have all been told the same thing in the last month or so. I know so many ladies have found it helps with their weight loss though. My doctor did say if i was overweight he would put me on it but otherwise there's no evidence to show it would help me with ovulation

Elly1685 · 04/12/2017 20:37

No I haven't tested - I have no symptoms apart from really bad skin lately, pain in my lower left side and feeling really low. But I think that's just the stress of ivf and my baby bomb...!

When I had the hcg trigger shot I had super sensitive boobs and weird cm which I imagine would be the same if I was pg but I'm having none of that..

You're right SLady, testing just depresses me more and wastes money :( it's just annoying

Its been three months since I was put on metformin - I haven't really noticed any difference.!

LG93 · 05/12/2017 08:30

I’ve just been to see my gp who was at a fertility conference last week. Apparently current advice is that metformin doesn’t really do much to help ovulation and she had an inofolic leaflet on her desk which she’s photocopies for me. Going to give that a go , she also told me off for temping and doing opks and said I’d be better to just leave it all and have a break. Off to buy some inofolic now!!

SLady · 05/12/2017 09:39

Lots of people have been saying the same thing LG93 I bought some inositol ages ago but I didn't notice any difference. I didn't really stick at it though so maybe I should give it another go.

AF due tomorrow and feeling crampy today so think it will come right on time!

AmyL88 · 05/12/2017 11:14

Lots of talk about the inofolic at the moment, think i will give it a go next cycle.

Don't rule yourself out @SLady!! Positive vibes only. AF is due Sat for me so we shall see...I am resisting the urge to test!!

LG93 · 05/12/2017 11:35

@AmyL88 I thought the same and had booked the appointment to ask her if I could take it with metformin, and she said that currently fertility experts say it works better than metformin so going to crack on, although with buy the myo inositol separately as it’s so much cheaper!

@SLady they say you’re meant to take it for at least 3 months to give it the best chance of working so I’ll see what happens.

AF was due yesterday, still not here but BFN so trying to put it out of my head and work on moving forwards!

SLady · 05/12/2017 12:11

True Amy it's not over until AF rears its ugly head!! We shall see. I don't even have any tests left so it's not been difficult not to test. Eek not long Amy FX!!

That's interesting LG93 I think I'm going to give it a go! When I bought the myo inositol separately I never knew how much I was meant to be taking Confused hard to measure it out properly!

HollyWollyDooDah · 05/12/2017 21:34

What does this inofolic taste like?

ElizabethCatherine · 06/12/2017 09:17

Hey @Sunny1984 would the Saturday 20th work for you of Jan? Have not set in stone a date yet but can try 20th! Going to do an insta post and seen how many ladies are interested :)
@Sunny1984 I will be having my transfer in the beginning of Jan! Starting meds up again this Saturday to bring on a bleed and then start the estrogen patches and injections through Christmas so should take me to first week of jan I believe for transfer! I am at the wolfstan fertility clinic in Hammersmith it's apparently the biggest fertility clinic in all of the UK! I have heard people going to zita west clinic and recommend it (private clinic if you do not have an nhs run).

@Elly1685 keep in touch lovely when you are going for ivf and let me know if I can help you at all x

Happy Wednesday everyone! Half way to friiyyaaayy!!!

Sunny1984 · 06/12/2017 09:17

Morning all,

How’s everyone doing? I’ve had a bug since Sunday so feeling very sorry for myself as AF arrived in full force the same day!! Worried my Clomid won’t have been absorbed properly so thinking this cycle has even less hope 😢.

I’m interested about the Inofolic too but I’ve not heard anyone have any success on it!

SLady, any sign of AF?

AmyL have you tested yet?

Sunny1984 · 06/12/2017 09:31

ElizabethCatherine I can hopefully do the 20th will just need to request it off work 😁

Ooh what Dr were you under there? I meet Mr Salim at the fertility show and he was the guy that said he might be able to the injectables on the NHS! Would you recommend the clinic or not really? It’s a massive trek from Essex but was willing to do it if it’s worth a go! I’m swinging back round to the idea of just getting on with IVF in Feb because I’m very aware that at 34 on Feb 1st I should maybe just get a move on!!

SLady · 06/12/2017 14:18

Holly it didn't really taste of anything but I mixed mine with juice. From reading up on infolic seems you're not meant to mix it with anything other than water or sparkling water though Confused

How exciting Elizabethcatherine not long to go!! It's good you don't have to go through the first bit again. Have you got one or two embies?

Sorry to hear you are poorly Sunny. AF is due today if I ovulated day 14. No sign yet but I guess I might have ovulated CD15 or CD16? Not sure whether to just put myself out of my misery and test tomorrow. I just hate the disappointment that comes with it. Trying to put it off for as long as possible.

What have you decided to do Amy?

Alicejj8x · 06/12/2017 14:23

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me and give me any advice/ info on poly cycstic ovaries

Basically just to fill you all in..
December 2015 stopped the pill
Jan 2016 became pregnant ( didn't no I was pregnant Untill March ) pregnancy sadly ended in a Missed miscarriage at 6 1/2 weeks
Since then my periods a have been so irregular once every 3 months
Have had lots of scans and bloods
Today I had a internal scan done as the doctor reckoned I might have PCOS
Confirmed that my right ovary has follicles on and my left has some follicles on it..
she has started me off on Merformin
500mg a day for 2 weeks then
500mg twice a day for 2 weeks then
500mg three times a day
This will be for 3 months.. in feb I will go back if no luck of regular cycles/ pregnancy and they will then start me on clomifene aswell as the metformin
I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting pregnant on METFORMIN or if anyone has been in my situation with this ..

I have heard that poly cycstic ovaries and PCOS is 2 diff things?..
I asked if it's bad and the doctor told me it's not bad it just means getting pregnant might be harder.
Has anyone had any positive stories from poly cycstic ovaries or these tablets?..

I am so so scared I won't be able to have a baby :( any advice or friendly words will be a big help. Thank you :)

SLady · 06/12/2017 14:53

Hi Alice so sorry to hear about your MMC. I don't think anyone on this thread has conceived from Metformin alone? Clomifene is the drug that induces ovulation and helps conception as ladies with pcos don't ovulate regularly. I think the difference is the syndrome (pcos) is all of the side effects of having polycystic ovaries (overweight, bad skin, excess hair etc). My doctor explained that I have polycystic ovaries but only suffer very mildly from the syndrome. Hopefully you will have success with Clomid, lots of people do and there's a lovely group of supportive women on here if you need to talk about things! It is a scary thing coming to terms with it and not knowing what will happen in the future

Alicejj8x · 06/12/2017 15:34

Thank you for the reply. Is this group UK based or ?..
I don't have any of the usual symptoms of pcos expect irregular periods. I am not overweight I don't have bad skin etc... but they found some follicles on my ovaries
I hope it's not to bad they haven't said it's bad at all so surly they would of mentioned I did say is it bad and they told me it's not but it'll take a little while longer to get pregnant that was al!!
I will be put on Clomid after this 3 months on these tablets first so fingers crossed they regulate my cycles :( it feels like a big deal but compared to others I guess I'm a lucky one as I know I can get pregnant from my previous MC
Thank you for the reply x

SLady · 06/12/2017 16:08

This group is UK based Alice. Yes that's true it doesn't mean you're not going to get pregnant it just means it's a bit more difficult because of the irregular periods and irregular ovulation and everyone responds differently so it's difficult to predict what will work for you but there are options :)

SLady · 06/12/2017 16:10

I've been on a Google spree this afternoon Hmm and you know it's bad when you can see you've clicked on all the links before! I need to POAS and get it over with

Alicejj8x · 06/12/2017 16:12

Thankyou good I'm UK based but I know some are like from America etc...

Thank you for your reply :)
I just worry as I think will this stop me having children or being able to have them at all but I've read so many people have pcos and have gone on to have children. Need to stop worrying myself I think lol! Xx

LG93 · 06/12/2017 16:21

Hi Alice, sorry to hear of your loss Flowers

I’ve been on metformin for years (way before I was ttc). It was previously heralded as a bit of a wonder drug for pcos but my gp was at a fertility conference last week and the consensus was that it doesn’t actually help as much with ovulation as they thought it did. The science behind metformin is that it’ll increase your sensitivity to insulin, and reduce the insulin levels in your blood as well- insulin is an antagonist to your ovaries and stimulates the production of androgens which cause the symptoms of pcos and can inhibit ovulation.

Currently, they’re seeing promising results with myo-inositol (which you can either take as inofolic, which includes your folic acid) or on its own. This replaces secondary messengers which is thought to help your cells react correctly to insulin and therefore less is needed, which decreases levels and you get the same benefits of reducing insulin levels as with the metformin; although the early literature available shows betters results from the inositol than were ever seen with metformin. It may be worth trying some inositol too and seeing if it helps. It’s a supplement rather than a drug so can buy it online and my gp was happy for me to take it with metformin but I suggest anyone considering doing so checks with their own gp as I’m not a Medical professional!

Good luck xx

mummyclarke1987 · 06/12/2017 19:40

Hi all.

Apologies if this question has been answered already. Does anyone take myo-inositol and metformin together? I have been reading about inositol and purchased some powder from Amazon but didn't realise that you can't take metformin at the same time. I have been prescribed 3x500mg metaformin a day because I'm ttc bur read that inositol helps with your PCOS and infertility. Any opinions?

Thank you!

LG93 · 06/12/2017 19:56

@mummyclarke1987 - I saw my gp yesterday to ask about metformin and myo-inositol. She was happy for me to take them together, but I should caveat that with the fact I’m not a medical professional so maybe ring your gp surgery and ask the question?
