Fingers crossed for you SLady. Am feeling bit mixed about ivf, am glad funding has come through but the whole process sounds scary

SLady · 25/05/2017 20:56

Yes I bet it's nervewracking barsons. Keep the positive thoughts. When are you hoping to start?

Barsons83 · 25/05/2017 21:29

It depends on the hospital waiting times. We go on hol in September so hoping to have it done by then but might not be able to

SLady · 26/05/2017 11:15

Fingers crossed for you barsons.

I know this isn't a question I should be asking but can you drink alcohol whilst taking Clomid? Has anyone done it? Does it have any bad side effects? I'm not a huge drinker anyway but it is DH's 30th birthday on Saturday and we are throwing him a huge party and I want to be able to enjoy a glass of bubbles or two!

Iamchanging · 26/05/2017 11:42

100% yes you can drink alcohol, I certainly did with no side effects!

SummerHopin · 26/05/2017 14:10

Hi all, just wanting to put my mark on this thread to keep an eye on everyone. Nice to see another couple of BFPs on here, I hope that they are sticky and also that there are more to come!

Slady so pleased you're now 1 round down on clomid. Like I said before be aware that you can still ovulate late like I did as I think it took my body a while to understand what was going on! If in doubt just DTD a bit more :) it cant hurt!

FX to all.

YouBoggleMyMind · 26/05/2017 16:50

Yes yes to booze. I would have been sober for 18 months if I'd not drunk while having 10 cycles of clomid...

SLady · 26/05/2017 17:02

Thanks changing & boggle - exactly what I wanted to hear Grin I will make sure I have a guilt free glass or two to celebrate this weekend!

Thanks summer I'm definitely going to take your advice! Day 2 of Clomid and feeling good. FX

FloofyFloo · 26/05/2017 18:12

Good to know you can drink with clomid! Would be kinda annoying otherwise!
Does anyone know how many rounds of clomid are standard practice? I'm probably having clomid treatment - and if that fails icsi (as far as I understand) but how many rounds would they do?
I just wish the whole process was clearer!

Barsons83 · 26/05/2017 18:29

Hey FloofyFloo, i think it depends on the hospital clinic. I know some people get more than 6 but mine wouldnt do that. Just coming to end of round 6 but getting pmt symptoms so af most likely will arrive tomorrow. Then I will take Letrozole for 4 months before we start ivf

AmyC86 · 26/05/2017 19:24

Marking my place xx hope everyone is doing well xxx

YouBoggleMyMind · 26/05/2017 20:02

Well I had 10 round of clomid but I did have to request the last few rounds as they tried to swap me to letrozole (meaning a wait for it to be "approved" or paying for it myself and having no idea as to whether it worked on me or not!) and boy am I glad I persisted. Round 10 was perfect and now I'm 10+4 with our little clomid miracle!

Iamchanging · 26/05/2017 20:27

How are you doing Amy?

YouBoggleMyMind · 26/05/2017 21:41

Yes, how's things Amy? Xx

satsoooma · 27/05/2017 21:03

Hi everyone. Just popping my head back in with an update on baby satsoooma.

I have had an awful two months with hyperemesis. I was admitted to hospital for dyhydration and losing too much weight and then signed off work for 9 weeks. Just been lying on the sofa drugged up to my eyeballs, vomiting and staring out the window as was too zombified to even watch TV. Not that anyone deserves hyperemesis, but after what I went through to get pregnant I felt like I deserved not to be so sick IYSWIM. Although I suppose both conditions are related to your body not managing its hormones well.

I am still feeling rough, but it seems like I might be coming out the other side now. I got my 12 week scan recently, which was amazing, with lots of jumping and little fingers. I have also been dated as slightly further along than I thought, which I am skepical of because I know when I ovulated. But I'm happy for every extra day of progress Wink

Hope this new thread proves lucky for you all!

Elly1685 · 28/05/2017 10:56

Hi all,

Hope you are feeling better satsooma!

Boggle, it's good to know that you weren't limited to 6 rounds of clomid - I will be tempted to push for more or even go private if the first 6 don't work for me!

Good luck SLady - I hope the first round of clomid works for you. I had my cd13 scan yesterday and follicles were 6mm so it obviously hasn't worked for me this time so it's back to notheristerone and 100mg of clomid for me next time... however, hubby and I are jetting off to spain this week for a week at a villa so I'm not thinking about ttc and clomid and scans and all the rest of it. It would have been nice if I was ovulating this week but never mind :) hopefully a boost in clomid next time will do the trick. Doctor suggested I start taking notheristerone a week on Monday - does that sound ok with everyone? Or should I wait for a longer cycle?

SummerHopin · 28/05/2017 11:18

Hi elly, had to just reply to your post as you might still be ok! My cd11 scan I had a 6mm and an 8mm which was a fail per the guidance. BUT I had another scan at cd16 and one of those was 16mm! That ovaulted and we got pg that very cycle.
So just remember that you can still ovulate late even on clomid. So keep DTD as if you think you haven't and give up DTD you may miss it if it happens late.
Best of luck! Xx

YouBoggleMyMind · 28/05/2017 11:31

I think part of the reason I got that many rounds was due to the first three not working at all and then adding metformin to it finally gave me a response. I over stimmed 3 times so only 2-3 of the rounds of clomid actually worked perfectly. It's a fine balance I think x

YouBoggleMyMind · 28/05/2017 11:33

Agree with Summer, keep going as I ovulated on like cd19 or 20 on the round I got pregnant. You're not out yet!

Elly1685 · 28/05/2017 11:45

Ooh that's really good to know - thanks ladies :) x

Infertility123 · 28/05/2017 23:48

Hi Ladies,

Just dropping by to say Hi on the new thread.

Nothing much for me to write about, latest update is NHS have now officially stopped any further treatment and we need ICSI IVF due to the low motility following Hubbys vasectomy reversal and in our area it isn't funded as he has Children. We are now saving like crazy with a hope of having treatment in the Czech Republic in August. I have just received the book attached and need to get my body prepared for this gruelling journey.

I'll keep an eye on the thread to see how you're doing and keep my fingers crossed for a fantastic BFP thread for you all. I'll update you when I know more and start my IVF Journey.

Much love to you all,
Lisa x

PCOS - Trying to conceive
AmyL88 · 29/05/2017 13:55

Hi Ladies,

Can i join back in? I think i popped up on the thread over on the conception board.

I have finally been diagnosed with PCOS. Been trying for 2 years with 1 MMC early this year. I do get periods every month but they range from 36-40 day cycles. The Dr has said i have quite alot of immature follicles on my ovaries and i have an appointment on Friday to discuss further.
I do get positives on OPKS but its late in the cycle (CD24) does anyone know what this means? Does it mean i am actually releasing an egg or not? Obviously i can fall pregnant naturally as i did last November but could i potentially not be releasing mature eggs?

Sorry for the ramble x

holzyb20 · 29/05/2017 14:03

Hi everyone I was 90% sure I was pregnant this month it was my first round of 50mg of clomid I was sure I got a faint positive 10dpo at 12dpo I started bleeding really light with loads of EWCM it got a little bit heavier but nothing like a normal period, (I had 2 large clots but still wasn't bleeding very heavy) I bled for 1.5 days then completely stopped. My question is was that my period why was it so short is pregnancy still possible or do I start my next round of clomid?

BethanyCollings · 29/05/2017 16:56

Been getting strong ovulation tests for the last two to three weeks. I swore I had a positive test on the 22nd of May but nothing else has come up.

I've got bloods booked for the 5th June but I don't know what to do.

Is my PCOS messed up really badly or am i pregnant 😭
