Can i ask why @Sunny ? are you not responding to the clomid? Apologies if you have stated this already my memory is rubbish!

I know what you mean about taking a break over xmas, I have thought of that myself. Every cycle is such a rollercoaster of emotions!

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 08/11/2017 12:20

Did Clomid mess up anyone’s cycle? I’ve been spotting for the last 5/6 days now (starting on CD37) and I don’t know why! Argh!!

Sunny1984 · 08/11/2017 17:08

AmyL I do seem to be responding to the Clomid most moths but I will have 7 rounds by next months and to start with he said I could only have 6 months before needing a 6 month break from it. The consultants I spoke to feel that if Clomid is already requiring me to be supplemented with progesterone I shouldn’t have it for much longer and injections have less negative side effects!

I don’t know whether that’s true but I just now don’t trust my current consultants. I’m probably wrong but I felt he was pushing me
Straight to IVF before trying different meds for another few months! He has a private clinic which I’ve seen him in and now I’m just skeptical as to whether he is giving me the best advice or thinking of his private business!!!

SLady · 09/11/2017 11:19

I am going to take a break over Christmas. I'm starting round 5 my first go of 150mg today and then that's it. It's my 30th in the new year too so I'm going to take a break for a month or so and then do my final round in the new year then a hycosy and injections. I just want to enjoy Christmas and my birthday without thinking about TTC and I feel so much better when I'm not in a "cycle" as there's no pressure and i can put it out of my mind.

Fingers crossed you just need a bit more time sunny. You've got to go with your gut instinct and what you think is right. The injections do have their own side effects too but if you've had enough of Clomid then just stop when you're ready. I think I'd go up to 9 if the 150mg works for me

I'm not sure confusion mine has always been no AF or it's induced a normal AF. I haven't had anything in between

SLady · 09/11/2017 11:23

I think because all of the doctors aren't consistent and every person gets different advice it's really hard to know what to do for the best and who to believe. I think at the end of the day you just need to go with your gut. I asked my doctor about letzerole and he said he has never used it and we don't really use it in the UK but in Australia they use it first line. But he said why do you want to try that then? I feel like if I did my own research and presented it then they would listen and be flexible which is what they kind of say in the NICE guidelines which he recommended reading before. It's CG156 if anyone wants to read

Elly1685 · 09/11/2017 19:53

Af arrived yesterday :( which was CD25 does that sound about right? I've never had a natural af before so I'm assuming this means I did ovulate?

There's a really small part of time that thinks because I've ovulated once my body will go 'ok so that's what I need to do' and it will do it all naturally next month - although I know that will never happen!!

They have said they won't pay for more fertility treatment now unless it's IVF so if we want to do the injectables again it's £400 a month :( also because I'm a Welsh patient, wales have cut all funding for ivf so i won't be considered for IvF until at least April. It's just so frustrating! The first time something has worked for me, and now I can't continue with it :(

I'm glad of a break actually - it's my 30th next month so I can have a nice month and not stress - a bit like you slady

SLady · 09/11/2017 21:38

It would mean you ovulated around CD11 Elly does that sound about right?

I'm so sorry Sad that really is so unfair. It's so frustrating that they would only give you one round of injectables, especially if it worked. How stupid! Is there anyway you can save up and give the injectables another try while you wait for IVF? If you ovulated on injections for the first time it would be worth having another go if you could.

Yeah I think a break for your bday and Xmas might do some good then you can reevaluate in the new year. And don't give up hope, it's not impossible for us to get pregnant naturally and so many women with pcos do. You just never know! X

Elly1685 · 10/11/2017 07:00

Well I did trigger CD11 so I guess I o'd late cd12 or cd13. However I had 'ovulation pain' until cd19. So I'm a bit worried that m af arrived too early after ovulation. Could this be a problem?

I've also been having extreme nausea and hardly been able to eat since af arrived which is frustrating.

I live in hope it will work naturally but I have many doubts about that for me x

Sunny1984 · 13/11/2017 11:18

Hey,

How is everyone doing? That seems so unfair Elly. If you need it would the IVF be NHS funded? It seems insane that they wouldn’t try another few rounds of injectables. Could you speak to the Consultant?
SLady how are you finding the 150mg dose! I’m CD 13 and just waiting patiently in hope that I ovulate this month!!

Elly1685 · 13/11/2017 17:04

We have an appointment on 21st so I'm hoping my consultant might see that the injectables worked and give me another chance. Yes the NHS will fund IvF but because I live in Wales I have to wait for their April funding to be released and hope I'm one that is on the list for treatment that year :(.

AmyL88 · 14/11/2017 10:24

Hi Ladies,

Been away for a few days, had a rubbish weekend, AF hadn't shown up so Sat morning so i was about 4 days late according to when i ovulated.....Ofcourse I tested, a BFN....then about 2 hours later AF appeared!!! Sooo frustrating as I was having so many 'symptoms' and really had my hopes up! Not sure if i have messed this clomid up either as i completely forgot to take it last night so have taken it this morning...just need to hope for the best now!

How is everyone?

@Elly1685 Let's hope your consultant will give you another round. Did they confirm ovulation happened? It's so disheartening isn't it!!

SLady · 14/11/2017 12:48

Fingers crossed Elly I would go in armed and prepared and be firm with them. There's no valid reason they shouldn't give injectables another try if it clearly made you ovulate. Not everyone can get pregnant first time!! Grr so frustrating!

Feeling good Sunny took my last Clomid pills last night. Just hoping the 150mg is making those follies grow!!! I have a scan on Monday which will be CD13 (because of the weekend) so should hopefully have a good idea if the 150mg is going to work or not. Fingers crossed for you Sunny. Are you still taking the progesterone pills?

Sorry Amy it's horrible when the cycle messes with your mind. Hopefully this is all of our lucky rounds...can you imagine!
I've had pregnancy symptoms most cycles and I don't even ovulate, I think the Clomid gives similar symptoms which makes it even worse :(

Elly1685 · 16/11/2017 21:22

How are you getting on with your clomid Amy? They didn't do any tests to confirm ovulation but I'm assuming I did as AF arrived which has never happened before?!

How are you getting on too slady?
So my fertility clinic rang me today..IVF booked in for end if Jan. Safe to say I'm freaking out... x

SLady · 17/11/2017 16:23

That's great you can start so soon Elly I'm sure nerve wracking too but good to know you can get going in the new year! I'm trying not to think about things until my scan on Monday. Not feeling very hopeful, happy to be having a scan so I can find out sooner rather than later though

Sunny1984 · 17/11/2017 16:33

That’s fantastic Elly that the wait is short, but i imagine very overwhelming! Are you still seeing the Consultant on 21st?

That’s good you have a scan Monday SLady doesn’t it feel like we spend our life waiting for the next thing to happen?!!

I had a scan on Wednesday which looked like I’d recently ovulated so keeping fingers crossed but not feeling that optimistic!!

Mol5 · 17/11/2017 16:49

Hi there, a latecomer and mumsnet newbie! 24 years old, TTC for 2 years, discovered PCOS after year 1 with investigations, bloods & internal scans. Otherwise mild symptoms and regular-ish periods. Prescribed metformin for the first few months with gradual dosage increases, no change.
We have just entirely moved and the new area GP (different part of the country) is not happy to continue us on fertility referrals without his own investigations, and is telling us we must start again. I just want to move on to Clomid now, but he wont even entertain the thought.
Any metformin success?
X

Elly1685 · 17/11/2017 17:05

Fingers crossed sunny! I hope it works for you!

Yeah I'm lucky I haven't got a really long wait but I'm so nervous about it. I need to find a forum with ivf advice and how best to prepare.

Welcome mol - I've recently started metformin and not noticed a change but it's early days. Fingers crossed you get your clomid soon. I know how frustrating the wait is.

LG93 · 19/11/2017 17:12

Hi all, please can I join you?!

I'm 24, been ttc for 6 months. Diagnosed with pcos at 19, been on metformin since around 21. Had mirena coil removed 7 months ago. Still absolutely no sign of any ovulation in any of my cycles. Averaging around 32 days although last cycle was 44. 2 family babies due imminently (one 2 days overdue the other due in a few weeks) and I'm so jealous 😩 got a gp appointment in December to discuss, although I know realistically there's nothing she can do until it's been a year. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

SoapyChoc · 19/11/2017 18:46

Welcome Mol and LG

Great news Elly hopefully with Christmas coming up you can keep yourself busy so as to pass the time quickly while you wait.

Good luck for your scan SLady

Glad to hear yours was positive Sunny

AF came today for me. It was a 29 day cycle which is unheard of for me. The last two cycles I have felt like I have had signs of ovulation and then Af has.come around 2 weeks later so I am positive Metformin is doing something for me. I around finding losing the last bit of weight strangely hard. I need a slap! Wishing everyone a good week.

HollyWollyDooDah · 19/11/2017 21:11

Hi guys
Sorry been Mia for a bit
So busy and been ill with cold/chest infection
Wrote out all my periods for the last two years - really opened my eyes a bit
Shortest cycle - 11 days
Longest cycle - 43 days
I'm assuming they'll be able to regulate my cycle? Is that how it works? X

SLady · 20/11/2017 09:26

Hi ladies, welcome newcomers!
I had my tracking scan this morning CD13 and there is a big juicy follicle there at 20mm!! And my lining is 11 which apparently is perfect! So really good news, I cant believe it! He said it might grow to 22/23mm before it ruptures but I will ovulate in the next few days. Looks like the 150mg Clomid has done the trick! Feel so much better after a scan and of course with the good news too. FX!!

Sunny1984 · 20/11/2017 09:37

SLady that’s brightened up morning!! So pleased for you, keeping everything crossed this is your month! A lining of 11 is amazing 😃 mine was only 8 on day 15!

Welcome newcomers, this is a great supportive thread.

Thank Soapychoc and Elly, I’m really hoping it’s my lucky month soon!!

SLady · 20/11/2017 10:15

Ah thanks Sunny Smile I am so thrilled. I had really given up on the clomid so I was so shocked! Especially as ive had zero symptoms. Feeling very happy that I know what's going on in there and that I am in with a shot this month. Fingers crossed this is both our months... How's the 2ww going? Not sure whether to DTD every day or every other now I know its imminent - I don't want to miss it!

Sunny1984 · 20/11/2017 11:26

It is amazing news ☺️
Personally if your DHs doesn’t have any issues I’d go for every day for the next 3 days so you don’t risk missing it!!

That’s my approach when I had the scan with the juicy follicle we went with every day! Obviously it didn’t work last month for us but I knew we couldn’t have done any more!!

I’ve read about the sperm meets egg plan and that is every other day until positive OpK then every day for 3 days!

It’s ok trying not to think too much and carry on as normal! Going Xmas shopping today and tomorrow to keep me occupied!!

Mol5 · 20/11/2017 14:48

Hi SLady that sounds fantastic news! Is that on Clomid? Sorry not sur if you gave up - or this was the positive and you had almost given up! How long have you been on it? Is it on NHS? X
