You never know, this while buisiness is so uncertain! Fingers crossed for you.

Peanuts88 · 23/07/2017 16:20

AF for me today Angry oh well- onto cycle 2!!!!

Jamon · 23/07/2017 16:44

It came on yesterday - start of cycle 21. Not taking clomid this cycle, need a break.

Peanuts88 · 23/07/2017 17:23

Ugh sorry jamon it's really annoying... I don't even want to know what real cycle number this is for me... I think it's cycle 20 Hmm but pretending Clomid cycles are a fresh start... Wine for us!

Amyvictoria21 · 23/07/2017 23:17

I'm sorry AF arrived :( I'm supposed to be ovulating this week and I've had some cramps but still yet to see any cm. (Sorry for tmi). I've never really seen any on normal cycles but expected it this time round.

Ktmp · 26/07/2017 12:35

Hello everyone! Just checking in before I go on my holidays!!

Cd10 here and, apart from temping, I'm doing nothing other than bding to see what happens this month!

Small update on the referral route - was in the hospital this morning as I had my needles appointment for my migraines 🤢 and I popped into gynae to see if the Secretary had gotten anywhere. Good news is that she'd found a consultant to do the referral letter and would chase it up today! The next step will be an information pack arriving in the post and then I'll get an appointment. She also said that they send over all the test results so they don't have to be repeated! 🤞

Hope everyone is doing Ok?

Ktmp · 01/08/2017 17:38

Where's everyone gone?!

Another update - secretary rang and tried to make me an appointment this Friday (still on holiday) to discuss the referral at my usual clinic so it looks like I'm still waiting.... She even asked if I was still taking Clomid which really peed me off as I've been waiting for months now.

Still hoping though 🤞 Holidays are the best medicine (8 days of bding in the last 10 days and currently on cd16 so can't say we're not trying!)

Hi everyone, hoping I can join? I have pcos and have just finished my second round of Clomid 50mg. I am unmonitored but had a cd21 blood test this month and I discovered my progesterone is still less than 1!! I am obviously really disappointed and starting to lose hope! Round 3 I will be given 100mg which again I need to try for 2 months. Does my very low progesterone mean Clomid is less likely to work?

Ktmp · 08/08/2017 16:05

Hello @SLady! Welcome!

Your progesterone level is the way they check if you ovulated. They say a score over 30 is usually evidence that you have. Clomid is supposed to help you ovulate so they've put you on 100mg as your score shows that it didn't help at 50mg.

How long have you been ttc?

SLady · 08/08/2017 16:36

Thanks ktmp I am just really disappointed as I was expecting my levels to have increased a bit, even if it wasn't enough for ovulation. To be still less than 1 after 2 rounds of 50mg is upsetting! I was just wondering whether the fact that my result is so low after Clomid has any bearing on whether it will work with other doses? We've been TTC for about 14 months although pre-clomid was pretty tricky with 70-odd day cycles!

happybus28 · 09/08/2017 07:23

Hi,

Can I join in? I'm on my 2nd clomid cycle, taking 50 mg days 2-6 unmonitored. 1st cycle last month I had a positive OPK day 12 and ov'd day 14 which I was chuffed about (always had between 40-50 day cycles before).

2nd cycle now and I'm currently CD15, not had a positive OPK yet but had some EWCM yesterday. Pretty sure I haven't ov'd yet as I usually get symptoms afterwards (very sore boobs and nausea) which I haven't got yet.

I just wondered what others experiences are with when you ovulate after clomid? I thought it would be the same every month so feeling a bit disheartened now I'm on CD15 and nothing's happened yet. Probably me being impatient but as 1st cycle worked great I'd got my hopes up it would be the same this month!

Ktmp · 09/08/2017 22:07

Hello @happybus28! Welcome!

Not sure how much help I can be as I'm never completely convinced that Clomid helped me ovulate. I've done 6 rounds (3 at 50mg and 3 at 100mg). Only monitoring was day 21 bloods on first round and that score was 27 so not hopeful (and obviously no bfp so not too successful!)

SLady · 10/08/2017 08:00

Me either sorry happybus

Have they tried combining Clomid with anything else to make it work ktmp? Will you be trying 150mg?

Ktmp · 10/08/2017 08:35

@Slady that's all they did with me. Gets me so annoyed about the postcode lottery for the nhs! You only have to read through this thread to realise how different the whole process is for everyone. 😡

I've got an appointment today that's supposedly just a formality for my ivf referral so no more Clomid for me.

SLady · 10/08/2017 09:09

Yes that's the thing that annoys me too ktmp everyone's treatment is so different and you can't help feel that you might be in with a better chance had you lived somewhere else!
That's good, do you have to wait long for your IVF? Did they offer you anything else before IVF, or was it straight to that after Clomid? x

Ktmp · 10/08/2017 10:50

No idea what happens from now @slady. My consultant mentioned it briefly when she gave me the prescription for 100mg that if it didn't work it would be an IVF referral. Lots of messing already to get to this appointment (see previous posts) so will just have to wait and see. Feeling pretty crappy about it all to be honest. Really hoped I wouldn't need it and to make it more stressful, my brother in law and his girlfriend have just had an awful time failing two rounds with the second round causing significant damage.

SLady · 10/08/2017 10:55

That's a shame you don't get to try 150mg. Thanks I'll have a read back through the thread and catch up. Sorry to hear you're feeling crappy, I think we all start out hoping it will be a simple journey and we'll be one of the lucky ones where it all goes straight forward so I'm sure it can feel disappointing but whatever it takes to get your little bean. You will get there in the end. I always tell myself I have a healthy womb, eggs at the ready, a partner, there's no reason why it won't happen with some help and it will eventually. We need to keep hopeful Star xx

Ktmp · 10/08/2017 21:13

Definitely trying to stay positive @slady!

Appointment went quite well. The consultant was covering (as they seem to be struggling to find someone). Wish I'd had her from the start! She wasn't happy that they hadn't repeated the 21 day bloods as even she said she couldn't say whether Clomid had helped or not. She explained the next steps really thoroughly and said that we may not need full IVF, they may try IUI. Just need to wait for the appointment now which should take a few weeks 🤞

whispers it's cd25 at the moment though (trying to stay relaxed!)

SLady · 10/08/2017 21:53

That sounds like a really positive appointment ktmp that's really good you've got a better consultant! I have 2x 50mg, 2x 100mg and then 2x 150mg and I have a blood test on the second round of that dose. Only one at cd21. So stingey!
That'll be good if you can try something else before IVF, the more options the better. I'm not sure how iui works really. Not too long to wait, keep trying in the meantime, you never know what can happen. Someone on another thread got their bfp just as they were about to start ivf it was crazy!

brighteye3986 · 11/08/2017 16:56

Hi, can I join in please? TTC for 2 years... have been to see our consultant today for our follow up after having all our tests and have been prescribed clomid as they are saying the only indicator for infertility points to not ovulating.

I'm currently on CD12 so won't start taking it for a while but was wondering if everyone could help and give any advice as to anything I should do or side effects etc. Should I start doing OPKs once I've started taking clomid? I will be starting my first 2 cycles on 50mg and then depending on bloods will either stay on 50mg or increase my dosage.

SLady · 11/08/2017 21:44

That sounds similar to my Clomid plan brighteye are you being monitored? Will you be having CD21 blood tests? I don't get any side effects with clomid except from I do get a little hot when taking them. So I take them at around dinner time and just sleep with thin sheets and does the trick. I prefer not to do opks but it's personal choice the only thing I would say is don't rely on them too heavily and make sure you DTD every other day CD9 - CD23 no matter what the opk says and other than that just cross your fingers and that's all you can do!

brighteye3986 · 11/08/2017 21:53

Thanks slady! I will have a blood test done on CD 21 after cycle 2 of clomid to see if it is working. Then from the results of that will be the decision as to whether or not the dose is altered.

I stopped doing OPKs a while ago because I was becoming too reliant on them and I think it was starting to become routine. I think I will stick without them and just let nature do its course.

SLady · 11/08/2017 22:20

Same as me. You're not Suffolk are you brighteye? I've never come across someone who is on the same Clomid plan as me. I just got the results of my second round 50mg blood test and unfortunately it didn't work :( so I'm moving on to 100mg next.

Yes and you can get false positives. I'm just trying to relax and DTD so I know I'll catch it if it happens whenever it happens

brighteye3986 · 12/08/2017 06:47

I'm in Kent. It seemed like it was a normal thing when my consultant advised me that would be what would happen although hubby was asking lots of questions!

I'm sorry to hear that the 50mg hasn't worked but hopefully the 100mg will. At least there is still a little bit more that can be done before the IVF route.

The only thing getting me down at the moment is that it is such a long drawn out process and lots of tick boxes. Our consultant went through the IVF referral form with us yesterday to see where we would be and we have managed to hit every box except for the clomid one. I've even managed to get my BMI down to 30 so if it comes to IVF I'm pretty much ready.

SLady · 12/08/2017 08:41

Brighteye it seems everyone moves on to the next dose the first time it doesnt work and also it seems normal to be monitored so i always feel like I'm missing out on something! I'm really hoping the 100mg works for me, I've always been so optimistic it was a shock that the 50mg had no effect. So are your periods regular then, so you know when you'll be starting Clomid? I have pcos so I have to take norethistertone to induce mine! Yes it really is, once you start Clomid though things move pretty quickly and 50mg might do the trick for you, it can work first time for some people! Im really hoping not to have to go through the ivf route, im hoping it can be sorted before then, I just need to get my body ovulating!! What did he say the other options were before ivf?
