Footy, how did you get pregnant the first two times?

KP86 · 08/04/2017 20:08

KTMP, is this day 22 of the 'new' cycle? I'm really annoyed on your behalf at the dr who didn't give you the provera. Who knows whether that's affected your current situation. Are you booked in for 21 day bloods?

Ktmp · 08/04/2017 20:25

This is day 22 following an actual AF. Only had 21 day bloods on first round last year, they won't do them again! Really hopeful it's just been a timing issue and I'm now ovulating really late due to the longer cycles 🤞

Footy1 · 08/04/2017 20:46

Kp first son took 1yr to conceive. I almost signed up for ivf and then the day I had consultation I took a test which was positive. My second son we started to try as didn't want a long wait again and it happened the first month. No drugs or ovulation kit or anything. Then went on contraception pill for 7 years. Big mistake..

I was on the pill for almost 10 years until we TTC. It completely hid my PCOS, I'm sure I could've known years ago and made some big changes to help my future self. Can't change the past though!

We need a male contraceptive!

penguinsandotters · 08/04/2017 21:43

footy how do you check your cervix? I have no idea what position mine is in!

I too was on the pill for >10 years. Wish I'd considered another form but as you said, can't change the past.

SummerHopin · 08/04/2017 22:37

Kp86 I could have written your last post. Exact same issue bastard pill hiding this from me for years.

When I'm feeling low I really struggle with the idea that the pill stopped me from knowing about all this. You can't change the past, but it does hurt to think of it Sad

KP86 · 09/04/2017 08:02

I did have PCOS symptoms from the get go, but at 15, what doctor is really thinking about that for their patients?

Irregular cycle (sometimes 3 or 4 months); very, very bad skin; extra hairy; tendency to gain weight (and these days I'm obese with BMI around 32-33). All cleared up, except weight and excess hair issues) immediately on the pill.

But, will keep repeating my mantra of what's done is done!! Same as if I knew what being overweight and unfit would do to me and how it would wreck my body/figure/joints, I would have worked a lot harder when younger and not been so lazy to try to maintain a healthy weight.

Meanwhile, back to the thread (haha!) I think I'm about 7DPO now, so another week to wait. I'll try to wait until next Saturday to test. We'll see...

KP86 · 09/04/2017 08:03

Maybe I need to threaten myself with IVF or more intervention to get pregnant. Seems to happen quite often!

Footy1 · 09/04/2017 08:37

Penguin cervix checking right...(warning tmi for some, but tips are helpful)
So when u are trying to find it, I find doing it in the bath is best or on the toilet. Mine is tilted slightly to the right side and at back. If you bear down it pushes it out more so u can tell if it's soft or hard. It's like a stump (almost)
Before ovulation it's low & hard and should be easy to reach. Around ovulation it's very soft (can't feel the stump) very high up, and almost blends in with your internal soft lumps and bits) . After ovulation it can stay soft but drops a bit. If pregnant it can remain soft and high if AF it usually drops and goes hard again. Hope that helps.

It's useful as when u find it and pull out finger you can tell what your cm is doing.

Kp do u take metformin for pcos?

Footy1 · 09/04/2017 08:41

Really think there should be more warnings about the pill when the doctors give it out to people. I don't think I was ever told about the fact it can take so so long to get out of your system and also mask a multitude of problems. Especially today with all the sti's on the increase for young people. It's really not good!

I'm also kicking myself that I didn't try earlier. Annoyed with Dh as he assumed it will just happen so made me wait few years.

Just a bit of encouragement to you ladies..

I use to be a personal trainer for the forces and then personal clients when I left. Some were ladies who wanted a baby. They lost weight and changed their diets and conceived. I do believe it's important to be in shape for pregnancy alone and it does help conception. Sugar & anything processed is a bad thing for conception I honestly believe so. Maybe try cutting out sugar will help. Worth a try? I've put on weight in the last 2years as had a bad injury so not able to do much exercise. Was only borderline pcos and I'm not overweight so that's why they gave me metformin.

This cycle I'm cutting back on sugar, fat and white carbs. Anyone want to join me?

A good book to read is - it's starts with the egg.

KP86 · 09/04/2017 15:00

I've never been prescribed anything for the PCOS as no cysts. Just all the bits that go with it.

penguinsandotters · 10/04/2017 07:02

Thanks for the encouragement footy I agree that we need to prepare our bodies as best as we can. I'll join you! I've already started so just need to keep going.

Ktmp · 10/04/2017 11:36

So this is my current temping chart. Does anyone else just feel like nothing makes sense? Another high but no peak for me again today!

Clomid - hoping for bfp's
penguinsandotters · 10/04/2017 13:34

ktmp i have no clue about temping charts so won't be able to help. Have been thinking if I should start temping. Do you need to temp for a few cycles to see a pattern or is it clear from the start?

KP86 · 10/04/2017 16:53

Just saw the latest prenatal thread and then put my dates into a calculator. If I get BFP this month the due date will be 24 Dec, based on late OV.

I guess that's karma for saying last year I wouldn't try during March/April/May as I didn't want a Dec/Jan baby...

All speculative, but I'm keen enough to deal with it. The baby might resent me forever but they'll get over it ;)

penguinsandotters · 10/04/2017 16:58

I know what you mean. At this rate, I'd be grateful and over the moon with a BFP

Ktmp · 10/04/2017 17:49

I've been temping for nearly a year and still can't work it out!! Always seems so erratic and you can explain it a million different ways depending on what blog you read!

I'm now hoping for a Christmas baby too. These dates were always my goal as it worked well with having 6 months off then returning to work before summer ready for the holidays (I'm a teacher). I planned it that way for years but then decided that I'd want longer off so was hoping for a September due date. Right now I'll take any date I can get though!

Footy1 · 10/04/2017 22:38

Yes me too.. tried to plan when was best! Right now I wouldn't care if it was due on Christmas Day!

Your chart does seem a bit crazy KT! It's quite low temps.. do u sleep on a stone floor or something?! Lol
Do you take your temp first thing in morning same time?
Clomid does make your temp a bit erratic anyway at the beginning of cycle but should settle down. I've had a few cycles like this.
My temp is generally 36.10-36.30 before ovulation, then 36.40-36.75 for after. I'm still showing low temps so nothing happening at the mo.

Penguin it should be clear from start if u start temping but over a few cycles you should notice a pattern (but that's only if u are a regular ovulator)

I always thought it was a bit low! Made my husband do his a few times to check it was working! I do it every morning at the same time (body clock is now set to 5:10 without fail!) Read so many tips and try to follow them - literally barely move an inch, don't speak. Open to any other suggestions though!

Day 25 and back to low on the monitor. Just read loads of forums about people who have gotten their bfp without a peak to make me feel a bit more optimistic. Off to slimming world this morning to find put the damage from too many treats!

SummerHopin · 11/04/2017 13:27

Sorry ktmp I've never temped at all so am no help there. I think it all sounds really complicated Confused

SummerHopin · 11/04/2017 13:30

Just wanted to update - had my follow up scan this morning after only finding a 6mm and 8mm last time.

Very pleased to report I had a late developer and they found a 16.5mm dominant in there at day 16 :) Nurse said she would class that as a successful clomid cycle and she'd put my ovulation date as Saturday. Lining looks good as well. Booked for progesterone test next Thursday to confirm.

Couldnt quite believe it when she found it. We were all geared up to come out with provera and instructions to up to 100mg next time, not with the instructions to get at it like rabbits for the next week! A real surprise.

I know that ovulation doesnt mean BFP, but with PCOS ovulation is enough of a milestone in itself, so we are taking this as a very good day! :)
