Hey guys got my scan today to see what follicles have been produced, hoping it's good news 🤞

Ktmp maybe you should treat yourself to a Vegas trip then!

Otters gutted about your progesterone level 😒 how long to do you have to wait for your colposcopy?

Blondie how did your scan go?

Has anyone experienced a change in appetite while being on clomid?

Blondienut · 27/06/2017 10:00

Otters I had investigations on NHS, consultation privately and follicle scans on NHS!!! So I guess I'm very fortunate- my consultant said they used to charge the private patients for follicle tracking but now they don't! Sorry to hear about your progesterone - mine was only 15 when I had it tested but I now from using opk I only had it done 4 days after ovulation. I spoke to consultant about it as was worried if I did manage to get pregnant that my progesterone would be too low to maintain it. She's given me progesterone suppositories just in case.

My scan is this afternoon. Trying to stay neutral about it as don't want to be negative but also don't want to get my hopes up.

Can anyone who had the follicle tracking tell me how many scans they needed. I'm guessing it's different for everyone but I'd love an idea....

otters2017 · 27/06/2017 17:11

gands I'm having my colposcopy on thursday. really hope that its ok or they can do the treatment straight away if i need it. Been in such an emotional state, clearly finding this more difficult than I thought.

blondie how did your scan go? I had about 2 scans sometimes just the 1 scan as it's not routinely offered here and I had to push for it. I'm guessing if it's private they may have more frequent scans. It's just to check the follicle size and they may advise you not to proceed if you have too many follicles as there's a risk of multiple births. Interesting about the progesterone - should have asked for pessaries but guess it's too late now.

Jamon · 27/06/2017 21:22

Blonde I hope your scan went well. Hope the clomid does the trick for you and you don't need IVF. It's definitely worth a try at least. I've bought my clomid online as consultant refused to prescribe. NICE guidelines don't advise prescribing it to women who ovulate regularly... however I've read enough to think it's worth a try.

It affects me emotionally too, last month very badly. I was hysterical at times and kept thinking I don't even want to be here anymore. Very extreme mood swings. This month I'm calmer - hurrah! However still on my guard as one more pill to take tonight and last month the full crazy kicked in around ovulation...

Is it affecting your eyes badly? Keep an eye on that as that's listed as a reason to discontinue.

Gands how was your scan? Hope all went well

Good luck with your procedure Thursday otters

Can I get an opinion please? I'm taking 50g for five days. How important do you think it is for me to get a scan to check my ovaries?

gands88 · 27/06/2017 23:33

Hey guys, scan went well got a good follicle growing, going back Thursday for another scan to see if it's good enough worth having the injection to start ovulation so fingers crossed 🤞

Hope all goes well for you Thursday otters you know we hear to talk about it, sending you good vibes 👌👌

Blondie hope the scan went well? in regards to the scans I've found it's different each cycle (I'm only on my second), last cycle I only had 1 D11 I think it was, had the injection to start ovulation and done. This cycle they asked me to come on today which is D9 and had a scan and I'm going again Thursday D11 again for another scan and hopefully another Injection. It's all been on my docs say so that I've had these scans. They have been very thorough. Did you say this was your 1st cycle?

Jamon I think it's quite important to see how the tablets are working, I went on 50gm 1st and I produced 3 follicles so they told me to only take half a tablet (25mg) and now I'm producing just the one. Also you can look at it the other way, it may not be producing anything and you may need a higher dosage. Can you go get a scan if you wanted?

otters2017 · 28/06/2017 06:51

gands glad the scan went well. Hopefully your follicle will be ready by tomorrow

jamon I agree with gands about checking size and number of follicles to adjust dose of medication. It's also recommended to have a baseline scan on a new cycle of clomid as clomid can cause cysts and thin your lining so it's good to check these things out. Are you on your second cycle now? Might be worth paying for 1 scan just to check

blondie Hope scan was ok do let us know

Blondienut · 28/06/2017 07:51

Hi all , scan was fine- very quick. I think this one was just done to check I'm not over responding with cysts etc??? Anyway the nurses words were 'ovaries are clear as we'd expect at this stage, come back in a week'!!! Bit of an anti climax !!!

Yes it's first cycle trying clomid for me. Side effects have been OK apart from as I said sore eyes (but not blurred vision just achy) and feeling moody- however that could just be the general effect from not being able to get pregnant!

Jamon, I would echo what others say and have a least one scan - I seem to ovulate most months too apart from about 1 cycle every 6 months when I have a super short one - annoying that consultant wouldn't prescribe it for you. It all differs so much from dr to dr.....

How many cycles is everyone trying of clomid? My consultant only advised a couple as my AMH so low so need to move quick- anyone else have low AMH?

Jamon · 28/06/2017 07:55

You're all right I do need to check it. Can anyone recommend a good place in London to pay for a private scan?

otters2017 · 28/06/2017 09:00

blondie glad everything is ok. Hopefully there Lana nice juicy follicle or two soon. I've only been given 4 cycles. I have low AMH as well and ivf is the next step.

jamon sorry don't know anywhere in London but I'm sure you could google or ask on MN?

Trying not to worry about tomorrow but it's difficult! At least I can make a plan after tomorrow so I'll feel a little better.

gands88 · 29/06/2017 16:43

Hey guys, scan went ok today, still not quite ready for injection so having to go back Saturday for another 🙈 I know the internal scans aren't comfortable for anyone but I find them quite painful so having 3 in the space of 5 days is traumatising me a little bit!
*
Otters* how did your app go today? Hope they had some answers for you?

Blondie I'll be going for 5/6 cycles as my AMH levels are normal for my age (28) I'm hoping I don't need that many but you never know!

Jamon did you find a clinic or hospital that would do you a scan in London?

Jamon · 29/06/2017 18:16

Well done gands that is a lot

I've booked ultrasounds direct on Monday which will be Day 12. £110 which isn't too bad and absolutely worth peace of mind

otters2017 · 29/06/2017 18:33

Glad scan went ok gands that's a lot of scans! Are you paying for them privately ? Sorry forgot

jamon well done on booking the scan. I think it will be worth it certainly for peace of mind. Do let us know how you get on

blondie and ktmp hope you're both ok

So I had the colposcopy today. It's not an experience I'd like to repeat! Unfortunately he saw high grade cells so I needed treatment. They do LLETZ treatment where they burn off the abnormal cells in your cervix. I got a local anaesthetic but it still hurt. He said to expect discharge for a few weeks. It's still painful and I've been resting today. I now have to wait 6 weeks before I can start ivf so looking at start date of end aug all being well. I still have to wait for pathology results which take 4-6 weeks and that will determine my follow up. I'm now thinking we should plan a holiday for early aug as we need a break and who knows what the ivf journey will be like for us. On the other hand we should save £ for ivf but a last holiday would be nice as well.

gands88 · 30/06/2017 08:25

Thanks guys! Just hope it's all good to go with the ovulation injection tomorrow don't think I could do another scan 😢

Otters yeah we are private but our clinic offers like a bundle where If we have more then 2 scans per cycle they will charge £350 total, otherwise the scans are £150 each. So not to bad. Awww bless you 😒 at least they have done what they need to do and hopefully in 6 weeks you can start ivf treatment.
Oh god I know what you mean, that decision of do we spend our money on a much needed holiday or save it for ivf, such a crappy decision.

Hope all goes well with your ultrasound Jamon 🤞

otters2017 · 01/07/2017 10:12

gands are you having your injection today? Good luck! It's good that your clinic does a bundle package.

I'm feeling much better physically. Got a lot of cramps but not sure if it's post procedure or pre-AF. My temp dropped massively this morning and I'm nearing the end of the cycle. I've decided we should book a short holiday in aug then look to start ivf end aug/ early sep

Hortonlovesahoo · 01/07/2017 18:40

Hi all, can I join in? I'm 31, PCOS and currently on month 2 of clomid. I had a super easy time with #1 (1 round of clomid and boom) but this time is more difficult as my cycles are super long (40 days on average). I'm day 31 at the moment at still nothing.

gands88 · 01/07/2017 19:34

Hey all got to go back for ANOTHER scan Monday 😭 the doc reckons I will ovulate on my own over the weekend but if I don't he will give me the Injection Monday. Got these scans down to a tee now!

Welcome Horton, course you can join, we all here for each other 🙂 I am also on my 2nd cycle of clomid and so far so good. How are you finding it? Any side affects?

Otters glad you feeling better and glad you guys decided to have a holiday next month, deffo needed! Where you off too?

Hope the rest of you guys are ok?

Hortonlovesahoo · 01/07/2017 20:08

Thanks for the welcome Gands. Hopefully you'll have ovulated this weekend!

Clomid seems to be fine for me but i'm only on 50mcg so it's the itty bitty dose. My sister is on 150mcg and still isn't ovulating so i'm trying to be positive.

My doctors tend to be a little laissez faire about confirming my ovulation. Unfortunately during this cycle we were on holiday during the suspected ovulation times so i had one scan on day 9 and then nothing (no blood tests or any further scans).

otters2017 · 01/07/2017 22:00

Welcome horton hope the clomid works for you this time.

gands can't believe you have to go for another scan! I can't remember but do you normally ovulate on your own ? Hopefully you'll ovulate on your own this weekend. Get dtd to keep it covered!

I'm looking to book a holiday to Germany for a week. Going to Munich and around Bavaria. Looking forward to it! I don't normally book holidays in aug but not much choice with timings this year.

I've also developed some brown spotting/discharge today and I'm not sure if it's post procedure or pre AF. Just have to be patient and wait and see.

boatrace30 · 01/07/2017 22:21

Hi,
I wondered if I could ask some advice. I'm not taking Clomid yet, but hope to.
I have pcos, TTC #2. We somehow got super luck with #1. Six months in but only third cycle and I think possibly my first ovulation. Nearly a year in now and cycles are 30-40 days but. It convinced I'm ovulating properly as periods are super light and luteal phase is short.

Anyway, I have first appointment with fertility clinic (NHS) on Thursday. I wondered how far into the process you had all been prescribed Clomid (I'm not expecting it on Thursday but I feel it's the logical first step). And also not 100% sure I can get it on NHS with #2. Those of you who are NHS do you get regular scans or at you just left to it. I've looked at a local clinic and it costs £500 per cycle. Is that normal? It seems super expensive.

Sorry, lots of questions. Feel feee to ignore them!

otters2017 · 01/07/2017 23:45

Hi boatrace I think the treatment varies from place to place, there is no set rule so it seems. Some have been fortunate to get all treatments on NHS and others not. I managed to get clomid on NHS but my unit does not routinely do tracking scans so I had to push hard for them. I'm not sure how much it is privately as I fortunately didn't have to get mine privately. However it's not worked for me and I'm now looking at private IVF. It might be best to wait for your appointment on Thursday and see what they say. Have you had blood tests and scans done to check everything else is ok? There are definitely more treatment options if you have PCOS rather than unexplained fertility (in my own opinion) Good luck!

Jamon · 02/07/2017 00:30

Boatrace I bought clomid from the oxford online pharmacy for £16 and I've just booked a private scan to check on my ovaries, which is costing £110

Ktmp · 02/07/2017 07:33

Hello everyone! Welcome Horton and boat race!

Just checking in as today is my birthday! Trying to stay upbeat and enjoy it but feel a little sad for obvious reasons 😢

3 days till my next appointment at gynae to clinging to potential progress. Currently day 16, three days of high on cbfm and was really hoping for a birthday peak!

Hope everyone is feeling good, will check in properly soon 🎈

boatrace30 · 02/07/2017 07:48

Thanks everyone.
That's interesting jamon, definitely something to bear in mind if I get nowhere with NHS.
otters. No, frustratingly no other tests. PCOS was diagnosed 16 years ago. I feel like gp wasn't interested and I pushed for referral with nothing but a day 21 blood test. So other issues can't be ruled out. I had a c section with dc so worry I could have scarring.

Just have to wait for Thursday, it's been a long wait and I feel this will be the slowest four days ever!!

Hortonlovesahoo · 02/07/2017 08:24

Ktmp: happy birthday!! I hope you have a great day.

Boatrace: there seems to be a big difference depending on where you are. I hope that it works.

otters2017 · 02/07/2017 11:36

Happy birthday ktmp 🎉🎂 hope you have a great day. Not long to go till your appointment.

boatrace you should definitely ask about fertility MOT tests as it's difficult to treat if you don't know what's going on. Hopefully they will suggest these tests at your appointment but if not definitely ask!

Feeling in limbo today. My temp dropped massively yesterday so fully expecting AF today but nothing and temp has shot back up again! My body is playing tricks on me. Going to hold off testing though till tues if I can wait that long! So desperate for my miracle BFP!
