I'm on 2nd cycle of clomid (50mg CD2-6) and am on CD7 now - anyone else out there the same?!

Thank you. Yes, I guess however heartbreaking, it is progress and hoping for a sticky bean this time!

KP86 · 07/10/2016 07:39

Tried a digital test today. Negative.

This cycle must not have worked. And now I wait.

Doesn't matter, we will try again next time.

YouBoggleMyMind · 07/10/2016 08:10

Digitals aren't the most sensitive. Give it another few days and try a frer. Fingers crossed xxx

KP86 · 07/10/2016 08:12

I think I should throw out my eBay cheapies and buy the FRER which will stop me from testing every day because they are too expensive!

I know there's still a chance but hopefully I didn't miss ovulation completely (eg. it happened way later than I thought/compared to surge on OPK) because we didn't DTD past about day 19 or 20.

KP86 · 07/10/2016 08:55

Need to stop taking my vitamins without real food. Bleugh!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok today.

LittleFox10 · 07/10/2016 09:41

Can I join?

I have just started my first round of Clomid! Currently CD6 - taking my last Clomid of this cycle tonight. My scan is booked in for Tuesday.

Have you all been advised to do ovulation tests? I didn't, and now wondering if I should?

I'm scared, nervous and excited! Have no idea what to expect. So would be nice to talk to people who are in the same position. 😊

Xxx

KP86 · 07/10/2016 10:03

Can I ask, how did you all go about getting your scripts for Clomid? Did anyone go down the private GP route using health insurance?

We already have a DS so I don't know if we would be eligible for NHS help this time.

The Clomid I've been using so far is from my first pregnancy (still in date).

I'm starting to think ahead, what if it doesn't work and I run out of tablets. I have 4.5 50mg tabs left, so enough for one cycle at 50mg or two at 25mg (if I skip one day).

KP86 · 07/10/2016 10:06

Welcome, LittleFox. I was super lucky and it worked first time around for us (for DS), but I did ovulate much later than expected. I was pushed back 5 days at my first scan. I wasn't told to do OPKs, but I guess it's up to you. I wouldn't like to risk missing the surge window just because I tested at the wrong time of day. We DTD a lot over the (extended) fertile window, almost every day.

YouBoggleMyMind · 07/10/2016 10:37

Welcome littlefox,

I am under the NHS for my treatment and got all my medication prescribed from the fertility clinic. I wasn't advised to use opks but I did last cycle which sadly ended with a chemical pregnancy.

This cycle I'm not doing or using anything. Just a scan next Wednesday.

tatatetelle · 07/10/2016 11:09

Hi all

I'm like you youboggle, all under the NHS.

Littlefox I'm waiting for AF before starting clomid for first round, hopefully I'll be right behind you (if the headache I've had sine yesterday is any indication it should be any day now!)

KP86, keeping everything crossed for you! I

BummyMummy77 · 07/10/2016 11:24

Hi all! About to start clomid. A little nervous as to how much it's going to cost as we're in the states. The initial visits and testing will be costing about £900, dreading how much the actual medicine will cost!

Also nervous as the doctor told me there a very high risk of multiple births!

Excited though.

She'll only let us do three rounds and then make us take a year's break apparently so i hope it works!

tatatetelle · 07/10/2016 11:38

Crikey that is pricey BummyMummy! Although I'm not sure how much it would cost to go private in the UK to be honest. That's interesting, I have been told we'd try clomid for 6 months, it looks like a quite commun duration here for the treatment. What dosage will you be taking?

Yup I think any type of fertility treatment bears a higher chance of multiple pregnancy Grin

YouBoggleMyMind · 07/10/2016 11:45

bummy, welcome and I'm so sorry that the cost is so huge! It's ridiculous.

Over in the U.K. Clomid cycles often get abandoned for multiplied follicles appearing, however the risk of having twins is like 10% and triplets less than 5%. Triplet pregnancies are very hard and risky which is why they will tell you to abandon. Ultimately it's up to you though and they will tell you what they have to so they cover themselves.

KP86 · 07/10/2016 12:08

I've read elsewhere that Clomid is £800 here if you have to pay privately.

BummyMummy77 · 07/10/2016 13:32

Jesus if it's £800 there I'm terrified! I used to get this acne cream in the uk on prescription and here it's $300 for the same tube!

I'll be taking 50. My doctor said they won't do more than 3 cycles due to the risk of ovarian cancer. They are ott about liability here though.

I do want dh's sperm tested first. Quite annoyed how they doctor said there's not much point and it's probably me. Hmm

tatatetelle · 07/10/2016 13:46

Really?!? That's a tad outrageous!! Shock I've know I have PCOS since I'm 19 and we still had DH's sperm tested as one of the first things we did, it's a prerequisite to get referred to a fertility clinic.

KP86 · 07/10/2016 14:11

I had my last script in another country, so I'm wondering if they'll make us go through all that rigmarole again. I had bloods, ultrasounds, lap and dye tests (is that what it's called with the balloon?), DH had his sperm tested (slightly low motility).

I do have our medical history summaries from the GP but I don't think it's detailed enough to be useful here.

KP86 · 07/10/2016 18:43

Bought my superdrug tests this afternoon and I'm going to try to hold out until Monday to do it.

tatatetelle · 07/10/2016 20:41

Be strong KP!!! Ask DH to hide it from you!! Also for having been through the initial tests myself in the UK it's all fairly basic and surely they look for the same things everywhere. But fingers x you'll het a bfp before needing to see anyone xxx

tatatetelle · 10/10/2016 09:47

Morning all, hope you had a good weekend?

So I'm starting Clomid tonight, and got a scan booked next Wednesday. Let's do this!

How's everyone doing/feeling?
xx

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/10/2016 11:43

Hi tata, glad you're able to start clomid. What cycle day is your scan?
I have my scan on Wednesday morning. Starting to get nervous about it all after what happened last cycle.

tatatetelle · 10/10/2016 12:57

Thanks Youboggle, it'll be cd 11 next Wednesday. It's my first round so I'm not too sure what too expect, but I'll follow your advice and take it in the evening.

I understand you must be nervous, is there anything they can do or give you to help ease your mind when you see them on Wednesday? Hopefully you'll get a bfp very soon and your body will be more prepared for it xx

KP86 · 10/10/2016 14:27

Superdrug test was negative today, so I'm more and more convinced I'm not knocked up. So disappointed as I just expected it would work first round like last time. I should make a dr appt and see if I need any new investigations.

For those getting scans, good luck! It will be fine, just think it's one appointment closer to your BFP.

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/10/2016 15:19

Hmmm strange kp, maybe you could get a blood test done? Any sign AF at all?

Not sure that's much I can do to distract myself. I just have to hope that my follies are behaving themselves and are there. Then it's a huge 2 week wait. Well it'll be longer as I'm now too scared to test! Haha

KP86 · 10/10/2016 15:57

No signs, tomorrow will be five weeks since last period. Feels like so much longer!

Without Clomid my cycles are 5-6 weeks (longest cycle this year was last month, which was 44 days), so we will see what happens in the next fortnight. If nothing I will go to the GP for a blood test.

SIL didn't get a positive test with her first pregnancy until she was 7 weeks along so I know it's possible.

But my extreme fatigue (possibly related to having a toddler!) of a couple of weeks ago has subsided and no nausea at all.

I felt ill from 7-10 weeks in my first pregnancy so that would be coming up soon if I was...

I'm still hoping but have told myself it didn't work to try to alleviate the disappointment.
