Hi everyone, can I join please? I'm waiting to start my first round of clomid. I'm expecting af in a few weeks so a while to go yet.

Is anyone else taking clomid for a short LP?

tatatetelle · 02/11/2016 12:06

Hi MM, welcome!
I think a few of us are here due to pcos. Will it be your first round of Clomid?

LittleFox10 · 02/11/2016 12:42

Thanks Tata.

Yes I had my 21day bloods done which showed I ovulated. The nurse didn't give me exact figures but just told me to continue with Clomid and if nothing happens to give them a call. Having such a rubbish day and just feel rubbish. Hope the next cycle is better!

Oh no poor you. Hopefully it isn't an ectopic. If the pain continues then go and get checked to be on the safe side xxx

tatatetelle · 02/11/2016 12:59

It's just horrid that when you find out the cycle didn't work, you've got to deal with PMS on top Sad I hope you get through today quickly, so you can get home, and all snuggled up xx

I'll test on Saturday and see how it goes but will certainly speak to the Dr next week. I tend to feel pretty much everything throughout my cycles so hopefully that's just a little bean settling in.

doomkittycleo · 02/11/2016 21:25

Tata I had raised prolactin when I had a blood test before, they said it was likely due to stress, but it was only borderline high. Not sure what the normal figures are.

LittleFox10 · 03/11/2016 07:16

Fingers crossed for you on Saturday Tata! Keep us updated :)

I don't feel anything throughout my cycles so I don't know where my body is at half the time.

Xxx

doomkittycleo · 03/11/2016 08:08

little-fox Have you read Tony Welcher's "Taking Charge of your fertility"? It's a really good book at teaching you what to look for

LittleFox10 · 03/11/2016 20:25

Hi Doom,

No I haven't actually. I shall have to buy it and have a read. Thank you xxx

tatatetelle · 04/11/2016 08:18

I caved and tested this morning....and got a clear bfp 😊 Round 1 of clomid woohoo!! Let's hope it's a sticky one!

MmmMalbec · 04/11/2016 08:55

That's great news tatetelle! What dosage were you on? It'll be my first round yes, so great to hear early success stories!!

tatatetelle · 04/11/2016 09:37

Thanks Mm, I was on 50mg and it seems to have done the trick for me!

MmmMalbec · 04/11/2016 14:17

That's great! Can I ask what days you DTD and when you ovulated please? I'm a bit unsure how it all works!

doomkittycleo · 04/11/2016 17:00

Oh wow congrats tata you've got me even more excited about starting clomid. Only just over a week to go.

I hope it sticks!!!

tatatetelle · 04/11/2016 17:09

Thanks Doom!!

Mm I ovulated on 22/10 and we dtded on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd to cover all basis. And probably earlier that week as well but I can't remember, that was just practice Wink

LittleFox10 · 04/11/2016 17:33

Ah amazing news Tata!! So happy for you XX

MmmMalbec · 04/11/2016 18:11

Oh that's great! Do the nurses give you an idea of when they expect you to ovulate at the scan?

tatatetelle · 04/11/2016 21:14

Thanks Littlefox 😊
Mm yes for me the scan did help and the dr was able to tell me I would ovulate within the next few days (scan was on Wed and I ovd on the Sat). But I also did opks which helped. Hope that helps!

MmmMalbec · 05/11/2016 09:52

Oh that's good to know, thanks. I was wondering whether you could use OPKs. How many scans did you have in total? Sorry for all the questions!!

LittleFox10 · 05/11/2016 10:15

Hi Mm,

I had 2 scans with my first round of Clomid as the first scanned showed I could of possibly already ovulated so they booked me in for another to make sure I had/was going to. Luckily I hadn't ovulated but had a very good follicle which was measuring 20mm, just unfortunate for us I didn't fall pregnant so have started my second round on Wednesday. I purchased an Ovulation Kit online last night after Tata saying she used them. So fingers crossed this cycle is better however I wish I was having a scan to make sure I have another follicle at a good size!

When do you start your round Mm?

Xxx

MmmMalbec · 05/11/2016 10:38

Thanks for that LittleFox. My consultant said I'd possibly have around 3 in a week, but I guess that depends on what they show. Sorry it didn't work for you last time. Will you be on 50mg? Did you wait for your first scan to start to DTD? I have no idea when to start. I don't naturally ovulate until around cd20 at the earliest but I'm hoping clomid brings me forward a lot!

I'll probably be starting in around 2 weeks. Have to go through another cycle of pointless trying, knowing my period will come a few days after ovulating and then I can get started.

How have you found the side effects?

LittleFox10 · 05/11/2016 11:43

Oh wow, 3 is a lot in a week.

Yes I'm on 50mg for 5days on days 2-6. Since my loss I haven't been tracking when Ovulation is, so I'm all out of sync. My last cycle was 32days which before it could be anything between 30 - 50 so never really knew if I was ovulating. I'm hoping the OPKS will help this month.
After my second scan which showed I was going to ovulate the next few days we DTD every other day. This didn't work for us so this cycle with the help of opks I think we will dtd everyday in hope it helps.
I was very lucky and didn't have any side effects, maybe the odd headache but that could of been work related as I work with babies and just the general stress of paper work etc. I take my Clomid at night, just before I go to bed.

Xxx

MmmMalbec · 05/11/2016 14:23

Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had a loss. Was that on clomid?

I'm going to be on 50mg day 2-6 too. I might not end up having that many scans. Who knows!

It's hard to know about which days to do isn't it. We conceived DS by dtd every other day and it ended up being the day before and after ovulation. But I think on clomid I'll try and do 3 days in a row to cover the day before, the day of ovulation and the day after.xx

LittleFox10 · 05/11/2016 21:45

No he wasn't a Clomid baby, he was naturally conceived, which took 3 & 1/2 years and lost him at 17 weeks. 2 years later and still nothing so that's why I have started Clomid. Hoping this will work and I have a healthy little baby. Would love to give my partners dad his first blood grandchild. He has grandchildren from his step daughter but not from his sons and he's getting on in age now and I'd love for him to meet our little one when we finally have the chance.

It is so hard to know when to dtd. Yes I'm hoping to dtd before, on the day and day after to cover it all. Was your first child a Clomid baby?

I read on another thread that you shouldn't do opks whilst on Clomid because Clomid gives too much LH which the opks pick up to give positives?? So undecided on what to do now.

Xxx

MmmMalbec · 06/11/2016 06:57

Oh that's awful, I'm so sorry. Did you ever find out why it happened?

No DS was conceived naturally 2nd cycle. I honestly thought I'd get pregnant easily this time but my luteal phase has been really short. It was 13 days when I conceived DS but now I start spotting around 6dpo and then af arrives around 10dpo, so my LP is only 9 days. But that combined with the spotting makes me think I have a progesterone issue.

I've read that about the OPKs too so that's why I was interested that Tata had been successful using them.xx

tatatetelle · 06/11/2016 08:19

3 scans in a week seems a lot to me too Mm, maybe he meant up to 3 depending on what he sees? Or maybe it's slightly different if you're going private (since it's your 2nd I assume you are?)

I did read a few things about Clomid and opks too but they did work for me, we started the 'scheduled' (i hate that word in that context) dtd in the few days before we thought I'd ovulate based on what I saw on the scan (20mm follicle). DH had really good results at his SA so we thought that way even if we missed our window, we would be covered. If you can around the date you think you are going to Ov, do 2/3 a day as the reading can really change from morning to evening!
