Oh and of course the aspirin and if you are on blood thinners will cause any spotting to look so much more than it is.

If anyone's interested chemist direct are doing Bioconcepts Resveratol 120 Capsules of 200mg x 2 for £10.

Thanks pebbles - know what you mean about getting lazy about taking stuff, I argue with myself nightly about taking the stuff I take in the evening. I tell myself it won't be forever :)

You're right about the aspirin and Clexane, it does make it look worse than it probably is. Oddly despite the bleeding I feel sicker than ever today so I think my body is just taking the micky today. I've gone back to firmly sticking my head in the sand again, I'll worry about it on Wed!

Thanks ladies I'm very sore!
Well it's Easter hols, just ofsted, moderation and mums radiotherapy to contend with :(
Pebbles that's good for restravatol. Penny put me on it but then had those high uterine results so stopped it, of course who knows what caused that.
Ari really hoping your bleed is nothing to worry about even though I know you will be until wed :(

Oh Ari. I know so uncertain but feeling sick still is good and if there were 3 embies trying to settle in perhaps one might not have made it? It is horrible having to wait as at any other time from 5 weeks you could at least see a gest sac. A few yes ago after my First IVF we had 2 embies put back and I bled in Egypt they scanned me at 5 wks and he could see one sac had collapsed and the other was still there. Tbh my hcg reading came back at 18 and then negative 2 days later so way, way, way lower than you as you were sky high to start with so v unlikely this is the end of everything is way too soon. Hoping madly that there are one or two in there nestling away nicely.GrinGrin

Ari hope it reassures you a bit that Penny's not concerned! At least you have that scan coming up soon, just the weekend and early part of next week to get through before you can have a look. Hope the bleeding stops very soon.

Pebbles is this your first trip to Serum?

mel enjoy the hols, at least you don't have to teach for a few weeks(I'm guessing from the ref to Ofsted that you're a teacher!)

Still sitting on the fence about taking resveratrol supplements, while eating an entire punnet of black grapes a day... Thanks for all the info, ladies!

Just a further question to ari or any other of you knowledgeable ladies about our friend resveratrol... since it's an aromatase inhibitor, can you take it at the same time as letrozole (which is also an aromatase inhibitor) during super ovulation?

Report
brownstag · 04/04/2014 20:11

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that one, Village.
Ditto to what Duggs says, Ari. This is looking very promising, and I'm sure I've read that early bleeding is common in IVF. Not that anything is going to stop you worrying.
I'm now having a panic about taking all my supplements (and a couple of prescription drugs) abroad. We're travelling with EasyJet and I have already transferred all my supplements into a container like old people in nursing homes have with the separate days and times. It took me about 20 minutes, there are so many. But of course there's nothing to say what they are.
Is this going to be a problem? The website is very vague.

Thanks Mel, too. I emailed Gatwick and they said that should be fine about my supplements, but to tell them before I go through the scanner.

Dhea help please my results are back whilst being on 25mg daily and they are high at 923.0 and the normal range is 150-620 any idea on what I do now? Is it good that it's high? Should I stop the dhea?

OP posts:

brownstag · 05/04/2014 15:59

Yes, I would. Mine came back at 610, and although Verisana would say that's high normal, I suspect that's high normal for a man. I queried it and they said the range is the same for both sexes, but elsewhere I've read that up to 450 or something like that is normal for a woman. It suggests your DHEA levels before taking it were normal, maybe even high. You haven't been taking it for very long have you?
As to whether it's good that it's high, it might be good fertility-wise, and it might not, but you don't want to end up with hair like mine! If your usual levels are normal or high, then there's presumably no advantage to taking it. The usual problem is that as women age, DHEA is low. So it might be worth retesting after you've been off it for a few months, if you can afford it/be bothered!

Thanks brown I'll stop then. That's strange then isn't it with my low amh that it's high. Yes only been on a couple of months so surely it wouldn't raise it quite so much. I can't recall If I was on it when I had my high uterine test.. Umm interesting!

Mmmm, yes, strange. So probably worth retesting after a while. But then I have low amh but age-appropriate FSH which also doesn't make sense. I don't think much about this fertility game makes sense.
I imagine my DHEa levels were also astronomical when on 75mg; mine were 610 when I'd dropped it to about 10mg, or something like that.
I always find that whenever I invest in large quantities of something, I have to stop it. The last time I bought £40 of pred and 9 months of pregnancy vits I miscarried. But maybe you will need them again.

Hope everyone is ok this rainy Monday morning! Happy birthday to Belly!

Ari thinking of you and hoping the bleeding has stopped?

Sue happy birthday for Saturday! You are still young (I am 44, turning 45 this summer - eek. Would love to be able to knock a couple of years off!) I've been reading back over the thread, trying to learn a bit about super ov and related issues, and noticed that you wrote in an older post (back in Sept last year) that you were told by a fertility expert that the hcg shot, if given after the egg has released, can disrupt implantation. Did he/she mean if the shot is given after your natural LH surge has already begun, or literally after ovulation has actually taken place?

Waves to all.

Report
Arianrhod · 07/04/2014 13:40

That's interesting village, given that we at Serum are given an hCG shot immediately after embryo transfer (and then take two more, spaced 2 days apart for each one) to aid implantation. How peculiar! And I'm 46, so don't panic Mr Mainwearing (really showing my age!).

Hope the birthday girls all celebrated/are still celebrating in style!

Nope, bleeding had stopped .. well, changed to 'old blood' spotting .. but then started up again just a couple of hours ago. It's not huge amounts, so I'm studiously ignoring it. Fingers stuck in ears, la la la la la ... :)

How is everyone else doing today??

Thanks for the birthday messages, had a nice weekend but ate/ drunk far too much!

belly hope you had a nice birthday yesterday.

I was told that if ovulation has already happened the ovitrelle shot can damage the egg and cause a chemical pregnancy. Maybe its different with embryo transfer as its more developed?

ari glad the bleeding has stopped - when is your first scan?

Looks like I am out yet again this month. Bfn yesterday, af due today. Roll on next month'

I had a big heart to heart with DH at the weekend and broached the subject of donor eggs. He said it wouldn't feel like his baby and was against the idea. That's the first time I have spoken to him about it so I will leave it a while and bring it up again. He said he would think about it but it doesn't look promising.

Waves to everyone else!

mel Sorry about the BFN, and sue too. It's enough to try the patience of a saint, all this waiting around for another 4 weeks!

sue Is your DH the sort who likes facts, research, information? If he is, could you send him a couple of links on epigenetics? Plus the fact that it would be as much his baby as if it were your eggs - it would still be his wrigglies doing their deed, so his genetics still come into play. Just a thought. Someone once said to me that it takes a while for the guys to think things over before they can come round to an idea.

Well I'm afraid the bleeding is back with a vengeance .. started up yesterday lunchtime then tailed off, but this morning it's more than it was on Friday. I am getting a bit fatalistic about the whole thing now, I'll wait to see what the scan sees tomorrow but how on earth can anything survive this much bleeding? Surely that's lining coming away, it's way too much to be embryos getting bedded in. Well, will see tomorrow morning.

/waves to everyone

Ari the best of luck hopefully it's nothing and theirs one AT LEAST in their. I've heard of twins/ triplets where one sadly hadn't made it but the other has. I think you've been so strong, I would of asked for another hcg I think though as we all know, what will be will be. Praying for good news for you.
Sorry Sue, sucks doesn't it. As each month goes I panic I'm nearing the 6 month :(
Hubby has done his back in so needs to see an osteopath and is on diazepam so he's off this week now, this wasn't how I planned it!!
